I am relatively new to mech mods and have been enjoying the vape for a couple of months.
First, here's my daily set up:
mod: Electric Angel
batteries: AW IMR 18xxx (i use all three sizes) and Efest IMR 18350 - i use 18490 most often.
Atty: Nimbus
Coil and wick: I usually run a dual coil/wick using 32g Kanthal and silica wick. I use 2mm silica tripled with a 4 wrap coil. I usually end up with .8 ohms.
First question: I just bought one of those inline volt readers to get an idea of voltage drop, etc... (more out of curiosity than anything else). with a fresh 18490, it reads 4.2 as it should... when i top it with the nimbus, it drops to 3.3. Is this normal or is something goofy?... i ask as i hear of people talking about .3 drop under load, etc... and it looks like i'm getting .9 and that is when its fully cleaned. Also, I have a Poldiac and that reads 3.6 under load... still a .6 drop. I feel like i'm missing something, or something is goofy with my set up. (not that i'm not enjoying the vape regardless... its a bit hot and harsh of fresh batts, but settles in).
Second question: I recently noticed that my nimbus gets pretty hot when i chain vape... is normal? I mean.. very hot to the touch...so hot that the top of the mod begins to get pretty hot as well. could this be a symptom of the volt drop i'm seeing above? scared if there's a slight short somewhere that's not obvious or if i'm doing something stupid... there is no visible heat damage or anything like that...everything looks fine and ohm reader is reading appropriately on the atty.
third question: I'm not too well versed in battery amp knowledge... is my current set up okay as far as amp draw, etc... If i understand the numbers correctly, i should always be under 6amps. Just would like to confirm that im no where near being unsafe.
Also, I am waiting on some 30g and 28g kanthal as i'd like increase vapor production via larger surface area in contact with the wick, etc... i will likely run similar ohms (if possible), which (if i understand correctly) will result in a slightly lower wire temp than my current set up with 32g. i presume i'll see a slight increase in vapor production and taste while cooling down the vape a hair... do i have my head wrapped around this right?
Thanks for your help.
