I know this isnt in the modding forum, but im a new member and it wont let me post there.

I hope that someone here can help me figure out what is going on with this 5v juice box that i just made. I fallowed the steps in Dream's and Chain's tutorial.

When I went to take it on its madien voyage I screwed in a new 510 LR atty I had ordered and got only a little spirt of vapor and nothing else. Now the LR atty does nothing at all. I then screwed in a regular 510 and got only a little bit of vapor and then nothing, when this happens on the regular 510 the LED's fade and the whole device seems to shut down until I reset it by turning the master switch off and then back on.

I have no idea whats happening to this and now it seems my LR atty doesnt work at all even on my regular e-cig. As you can imagin this is very frustrating....

If anyone can give me some advice or has experienced this before and can give me some help it would be greatly appriciated

This just begs the question......you built the whole thing without posting enough to ask them questions along the way? Just curious, because obviously you've been viewing this forum a bunch why you haven't been posting? DnC and her brother as well as the rest are just super when it comes to helping and answering questions. I'd say make a few more posts and go talk to them. They are glad to see others doing these projects.

I just think they really are happy to see others doing those mods. It has to be a lot of work to put those tutorials together, and even the dumbest questions I've asked were always answered. Couldn't ask for a better group of people. When you get it corrected be sure and get a pic for them. I know they like to see other slight variations, colors, etc.

I'm very new to modding as well and am an absolute newbie to electronics(but learning). Someone suggested a battery operated soldering iron as one of the easiest mods possible, and I will agree. I bought one, rigged up a fitting for my carto, and the damned thing has spoiled me. I hardly use my kr808 batteries anymore. Curiosity got the best of me so I opened up the housing of the iron and it is extremely basic, so I bought resistors and led's and copied it to run on C batteries for a camping trip. It works beautifully. I think I'm going to be hooked on modding.

You need to check to seek if you have a short. Test for continuity between the positive and negative portions of the atomizer connector. I wouldn't try using this much further until you test that. It sounds like your connector may be shorted, which will cause bad things to happen on the battery side...

If your battery's protection PCB is damaged, you could get normal voltage reading during no-loading.

To find out if it is damaged (and needs to be disposed of as it is dangerous to charge or use a damaged battery) you will need to test the voltage under load. That is why I asked the resistance of your atty. You'll need to make a dummy load with the same ohms resistance of your atty and measure voltage across the dummy. (It will be less than no-load voltage.)

Basic troubleshooting. Isolate the easiest to isolate components and test outside of assembly under nearly identical use.

Make sure your dummy resistor load can sink about 5 watts to prevent making smoke. You should be able to parallel common resisitors to come close to any atty measurement without going with more expensive resistors.

If the battery + dummy load tests out at 3.2v, or above, then test the resistance of your atty connector from threads to center post. If that is infinite, or in the mega range, then put a jumper between the battery contacts and test resistance between threads and center post with and without pressing button. It should measure below an ohm with the button pressed and nearly infinite with the button released.

(I am assuming you are not using a boost or voltage regulator in your mod.)
