ok so I got myself a Trident rda to go on a Itaste mvp v2.0 going out today to buy 32 Gauge Kanthal and Silica, questions on wrapping the coil. What do you normally wrap your coil on, I've seen people use screwdrivers and such, but what size? also would I need to oxidize the wire? seen some videos where they don't. Also how many wraps would give me about 3 ohms? need a total resistance of 1.3 or higher to fire on the MVP

I use either a 5/54th or 1/16th drill bit, I got 2 of each from Wal Mart for like $4 total. Usually without oxidizing kanthal you will get a pretty nasty taste from what I've heard if you vape off it fresh but it's not absolutely necessary that you do before wrapping your coil, you can do it after being mounted on your Trident just by firing your mod. I usually oxidize it with a lighter, just take a couple passes on it while the wire is red hot, and then also fire it on the mod before wicking it.
I would get some 30 gauge to play with too. It handles power a little more gracefully than 32.
Ok so got home with some 32 gauge and silica ekowool, guy at the smoke shop said wrap right onto the wick, so that's what I did. 8 wraps for two coils got them situated on the Trident tested at 2.2 ohms fired it and it doesn't seem to get much vapor, increased voltage to 5V still doesn't seem to be vaping right
I wrap mine around a small eye glass screw driver 4 wraps of 30 ga comes out to 1.4 ohms. That's what I run on my MVP at 10 watts. I oxidize my wire with a liter before I wrap it. It seems to take the spring out of the wire making it easier to work with for me any way. Good Luck
the reason for the lack of vapor is the wattage is being split between the two coils, so at 15 watts max they are only getting 7.5 watts each which isnt really a lot. and then having that much wire to heat up will take forever.
But with dual coil you want 3 ohms for each coil though right? So it comes out to 1.5 total
Thats right, 1.5ohms is the load seen by the mod. But, you need to set your voltage/wattage as you would for a 3ohm coil else you will be really underfiring. This is why dual coils suck battery so quick! 1.5ohm single should be set very differently than a 1.5ohm dual coil using 3ohm parallel coils.
