New to RTAs etc but not to vaping

Hi All!

I have been an avid fan of vaping for the past year or so. I got the bug and started with a standard eGo battery and cheap clearomizers from Amazon, moving up to an Aspire CF with a Kanger Protank Mini 3 which I enjoyed for a while.

Now I recently bought an Innokin MVP v3 when they became available this year and stuck a Kanger Subtank Nano on top and loving it!

Here comes my predicament... I bought my first RTA, in the form of an eleaf Lemo due to the reviews and a good deck to build on. I currently cant seem to get it to taste right... it has a weird throat hit/taste and just burnt more than a nice vapour.

I am using the cotton balls and wire that the Lemo came with BUT i have some Kanthal 26awg and Muji cotton on order from amazon.

Is it just the wicking that is letting me down??

It could be various factors... What resistance are u on? And how much power are u using?

I am unsure what kind of gauge wire they provided with the Lemo but I have it at 1.0ohm powering at 17.5w.

I dry burned the coil and made sure it was burning from the middle outwards, fluffed up the cotton on each end after wicking through and then before putting the chimney on, saturate the wick with juice and then make sure it sits down on the deck but not covering the channels. Then I put a couple of drops on the coil and then do a couple of seconds of powering on and off... it smokes and smells good....

Then I rebuild it, start to vape and it tastes horrible!

Wick snug in the coil wick ends touching the deck and away from the juice holes on the chamber.
Always been good for me.
Currently got a 26 gauge 3mm 6 wrap build.
Usually I do 2.5mm.

When you say "snug" - how much resistence is there pulling the wick back and forth through the coil? Do you sit the cotton down the side or actually touching the deck... just before the channels? I have just bought some 26 gauge and muji cotton so maybe I will wait for that to arrive and try again - maybe the cotton is the problem in general?

So do you get the burnt taste straight away? Or after 1/2 hits. Any chance you can post picture of build? Might help. Don't mean to patronise but could it be nic level giving you too harsh throat hit? What nic level u on?

I do get the burnt taste straight away (but not when the chimney is off, it smells OK) and then even after 5+ hits it still tastes horrible. haha no its fine :) the throat hit isnt your normal "throat hit" and it almost feels industrial cause I am smoking "The Original Bunny" at 3mg!

Edit: I will get a picture up ASAP but I am working today

I find the lemo as well as many tanks after filling them full they can be rather temperamental until the liquid has dropped.
Some seem to never have a problem filling completely then vape away. I find that most times when its full i do have to nurse it for a few vapes and when some liquid is used its good.

But then as i dont want to waste any juice, I have only been filling up about half way haha, so I can tick that one off the list as well. Damn, what am I doing wrong! haha
