Hello All, I've been vaping for the past three years on and off and finally kicked the analog habit (1 pack a day for over 20 years, down to 1/4 pack a day over the past three years). I've been full-time vaping for three months and started originally three years ago with a cheapo 7-eleven Xhale 02 that I used when I couldn't partake of an analog. That thing died an early death several years ago so I switched to various disposables and tried a V2 Red 808 a few months ago and came to enjoy it, but the cartridges were too expensive (at $10 a day/every two days, I was spending much more than I was on analogs).

I ordered an Eleaf iStick (with a Nautilus Mini) that will be here in a few days and I joined Zamplebox also (first delivery tomorrow). In the meantime I picked up a cheap Zig Zag ego clone to get me through with the expectation that it will get throw in a drawer as soon as I get good kit. I'm ordering a Vamo V5 (and thinking about getting some 808 batts and cartos for stealth vaping in the bathroom at work. :) I'm thinking about which clearomizers, RBAs and RDAs to get and will be ordering them soon from FT.

The sad part is that the e-juices I've found locally have been absolutely horrible. I picked up something from thecityvapecompany.com called Splash Fruit Punch that tastes like soap and dreck. The ZigZag and Liqua juices my local smokeshop carries are also nasty. I'm looking forward to getting something decent tomorrow from Zamplebox so I can find out what good e-juice tastes like. I've separately ordered some stuff from Gemini Vapors and the Drip Club, including the Grand Reserve, Royalty, 100 Grand, ANML-Carnage, and the new free Philip Rocke Strawberry Ice Cream. The ultimate goal for me is to get down to 0mg since I'd like to quit being addicted to nicotine. The problem is that I actually enjoy the "act" of smoking so vaping will be a part of my life even afterward.

Anyway, I look forward to being around here and thank you all for your advice that I've already read on these forums.

Hi Cotay, I'm new here as well. I completely understand enjoying the "act" of smoking. I honestly believe that's been the harder part for me to kick the habit. Even when I had the nicotine via the patch or gum I still longed to actually smoke. Vaping is an awesome alternative and from what I've been reading, has really helped a lot of people to quit.

I only joined this afternoon, but I've learned quite a bit already. Tons of helpful info here.

Glad to see you here MrsMac. For many years I also smoked cigars and pipes. I had eleven humidors and over 2,000 cigars when I got married eight years ago. I promised my wife I'd give it up so I gave my cigars to my brother (who smoked them all within 2 months). I was "good" for about a year and only took the periodic drag when it was too difficult. I did my best to avoid situations or places where I normally smoked...which helped immensely. But I eventually gave in and started smoking again when my job got stressful. I honestly believe it's the oral fixation as much as the nicotine so only giving up a part of the equation (i.e. nicotine) seems much more doable to me.

Have you found any good juices that you'd recommend? I'm trying to stay away from the tobacco flavors so I'm not tempted to go back to analogs. My experience with cigars tells me that I'll like savory or spicy juices, but I'm willing to try some of the fruit flavors as well. I'm just concerned about the soapy and chemical flavor of many of the cheaper juices. For me, I'm not looking at this as a money saver (for the time being at least), but I want to eventually approach it as a hobby (much like cigar smoking was for me). I've been on 18mg V2s and think I've been taking in more nicotine than when I was on analogs. I'm switching to 12mg for the next month and then going down to 6mg very quickly. I'll stick there for a few months and then see where it goes.

Welcome to ECF Cotay.

I don't think it would be worth it to get the Vamos V5 over the eLeaf iStick since I think the iStick is the Vamos and more. I think the better buy is to just sit on your Nautilus Mini and iStick until you want to move into the realms of RDAs, RBAs, and RTAs, then you can think more about the higher wattage regulated mods or a mechanical mod, but I honestly don't think that the Vamos would be well suited for RDAs or RBAs.

Thanks Shynobi, I appreciate the advice. I might then pick up a better ego-c clone (maybe the ego-v v3) for use in the car. I commute two hours each way and I've been struggling to keep the junky V2 808s charged. I had five of them but three died...the V2 batt quality is horrible.

I was thinking about getting some Joye 510 atomizers to use with an ego-c clone to use to sample the various juices before putting them into the tank. I also thought about getting a pack of 5 EVOD clearos to use for that purpose. What would you recommend for testing e-juice?
