Welcome to ECF. For a decent starter without spending a small fortune go with an eGo of some sort. The juice comes in varying levels of nicotine. Depending on the supplier you can get anywhere from 0-36mg nic in your juice. As your smoking lights I would recommend starting out with a low nic level juice and move up or down from there. You will vape more than you smoke(at least I do). And drink plenty of water as vaping will dehydrate you.

Welcome to ECF. when i smoked i smoked 1.5 packs a day.. and have been smoking for over 25 years.. I am on day 18 i think of no stinky sticks.. how i did it was. i bought a Volt starter kit from smokeless image. and then bought some E-Juice to go with it. yes. when you buy E-juice you can go from 24mg Nicotine to 18mg to 12mg to 6mg to 0. I used the 555 ejuice to start out with at 24mg and i am currently vaping ejuice at 6mg levels. i feel great.. I know it is not much info.. but there will be posts that make this look silly.. lol.. just do research and you will find what you need.. I hope others give you really good ideas.. if you have other questions feel free to ask.. and congrats on your road to quitting..

If you aren't worried about having something more cigar sized, the Volt X2 is a great choice. If you want something a little more portable, look into the Volt Standard Kit. Comes with everything you need and some prefilled cartomizers. I recommend buying some more liquid to go with it, preferably a sample pack so you can start trying to find something you really like. Bluemistvaping.com has a thing where you can order 5 3mL bottles your choice on flavors for $10, or 10 flavors for $20

The bigger batteries will definitely last you all day on one charge, especially since you are like me and only smoked ~10 a day. With smaller batteries you run the risk of one dying, but the Volt standard comes with two batteries (I recommend the 78mm batts for longer life) so you should be good.

Standard Kit:
Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

X2: (comes with cord, but not wall plugin, can be had at Walmart or Best Buy for fairly cheap)
Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

Clearomizer for X2:
Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

Clearomizer for smaller batts: (also fits X2)
Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

Really depends on what you want. Do you want something that looks like and has the same form factor as a cigarette or do you want something where the battery will last longer and compromise a bit on the size. At half a pack a day, I ordered a couple 650mah Ego Twist batteries and a couple CE4 Clearomizers. Then you need a charger (or two) and some juice and you're good to go.

You don't have to order from that site either, just wanted to show you some information.

My advice, steer clear of cigarette sized ecigs, especially if they are heavily marketed, and generally don't work well. They are underpowered, and don't hold much juice, or wick good either. The exception is the Joyetech 510 Tank system. Batteries won't last as long as the eGo-C twists below, however.

My setup, being a fellow n00b. Works great.

2x Joyetech eGo-C Twists 1000mah
2-3x Kanger T3 Clearomizers
1-2x Joyetech USB chargers
1x Kanger T3 bottom coil replacements (2.4ohms or above)

All are available from vaporcrave.com

Oh, and leave the voltage at 3.2 on the eGo-C twists until you learn more about volts and ohms, and how it pertains to vaping. If you turn it up too high, you could blow a coil.

Im confused i saw the volt standard, and im leaning towards that, but then others are saying go Ego
what is that and where do I find it? I tried to look it up but I cant find it.
And are there any coupon codes for the Volt?

Thanks so much for helping me out with this.

Yes Smokeless Image has a coupon code that works for every order, every time. I can't think of it off the top of my head, but a quick Google search yielded "MYVOLT94". Try that one. The Volt X2 uses the 808/eGo threads while the eGo uses 510/eGo threads. Regular Volt batteries only use 808. Some people say the 510 threads have more options, and while this is semi true, there's still plenty of support for the 808 threads.

I smoked at least 1 1/2 packs of full flavor menthol for over 35 years. I tried to quit many times, never lasting more than a couple days at best.

I started with a BLU cig-alike that was terrible so I replaced it with a better cig-alike a couple days later and even that didn't do the trick, I was still smoking a couple in the morning for a kick start.

Once I got an eGo 650 mAh battery and some higher nic content juice I was able to put the tobacco away. In 4 days I will be smoke free for a month for the first time in my adult life. I still use that eGo 650 and also have an eGo Twist 1100 for long days. I use clearos and fill blank cartos, depending on what I am doing for the day.

Cig-alikes might be OK for a very light smoker, I don't recommend them personally (even though I thought it would be perfect for me at first).
