Hello. I've been vaping for about a year now. Just got my 1st sub-ohm set up. Was dealing with a lack of flavor with my iStick 20w & Nautilus Mini tank, so I moved on to the iStick 50w & Horizon Tech Arctic tank.

I will say, I'm having an issue with juices. Getting zero flavor out of my Charlie Noble Blue Bay with 6mil nicotine, in fact, I'm getting less flavor than my old set up, burnt taste, and stong throat hit (yes, i presoaked and primed the coil). Thinking it's the juice. What are some good juices for the sub-ohm set up? Is low nicotine better? What PG/VG ratios get better flavor? Max cloud is not a necessity for me.

Need to know your resistance and power setting.

Going subohm doesn't mean you absolutely need to use high power.

Also thicker or sticker juices will burn quicker at high power because they can't wick fast enough to keep the wick wet.

I would suggest instead of going straight for high power, start low and turn it up slowly.

Usually cloud chasing subohm setups are done with rebuildables, where the higher power is needed to drive larger coils

I don't know the gear being used so someone who does will pop in I'm sure

Far as i know there aren't any juices for sub ohm. People may have to lower the nic level but the flavour should for the most part be the same.
Well can be different but don't go from flavour in one to no flavour in another unless something else is not right.

I'm reading at .6 ohm on a .5 ohm BTDC coil (rated for 30-80 watts) at 36.0 Watts. Not a fan of extremely hot vaping so 36 is about the sweet spot for vape temp for me.

I don't have an atlantis but the juice holes or such look rather large so it should be wicking ok. Could try less watts and see if any flavour shows itself. 6mg nic should be ok , well if the nic is too high for you and that set up then it can make the throat hit strong and dampen the flavour , but not harsh like a burning harsh. If so then the juice may be getting to hot usually with high vg ( or so Ive heard).

As for the pg/vg ratios thats just something you'll have to discover.
Ask five people you may get five different answers. Even stores some have a fixed ratio , others have different ratio depending on the juice.
Pg is thinner and gives more throat hit and carries flavour a bit better , vg is thicker and makes most of the vapour and some feel its a bit safer ( unless you vape it at very high temps but no one does or can do that without hurting themselves)
Though both have been used by people for years and years.

I can easily build two different .6 ohm coils, one will work perfect at 20 watts and taste nasty at 35+.
The other will barely run at 30+

So every new tank will take adjusting and playing with power to find its preferred range

how open is your air flow? if you have it wide open try to drop the watts a little and close the air flow should help with flavor and temp hope this helps

I say sweet spot because another juice I sampled from a friend with a similar set up had good flavor amount with zero throat hit at that setting (that's the setting on mine, not his). However the flavor itself isn't a favorite of mine. With the flavor I have, I'll definitely try a lower power setting. It just dumbfounded me because the PG/VG ratio is the same between the two flavors, just a different nic level (his is 3mil, mine is 6mil)

I have it about 1/2 open. I'll close it off more and drop the power when I try mine again.

You can change the power settings anytime you want, the tank doesn't need to be removed.

LOL. I'm aware. The juice I have in there is good at its current setting. I meant I'll change it up when i refill the tank with the other one.

If your getting a lot of hot vapor the nic could make it a little harsher.

Could even be the flavoring used just doesn't go down smooth when its hot. A lot of times we forget none of this stuff is actually designed to be boiled then inhaled.

I've recently started building sub-ohm as well. Just my own findings... If I back down on the power and close down the airflow just a bit the flavor intensifies dramatically. I'm vaping Omega from SpaceJam on my subtank. I cut back to about 20-25 watts, and switch to the two hole airflow, and I can practically chew the vapor. It's like getting hit in the face with a juicy peach.

I agree on coming down on the wattage too! I have a iStick 30w and Atlantis (0.5ohm reading at 0.6ohm) and I usually vape most juices at 3.7v or 22.8w, I find going near 30w is way too 'hot'.

I usually vape my atlantis @25w seems to be my sweet spot for them. The readings will jump around with kanthal my sigelei will register it at .6 ohms but with my dna 40 device it will cycle thru .54sih to .62ish frequently as that chip has live readings as you press the fire button. But to throw out there you can easily go up to 40w but that all depends on how hot you enjoy your vape.

Well, I filled my tank with the old juice and set the wattage lower to 19 then slowly upped it to 23. The extreme throat hit and burnt taste isn't there, however the flavor is still lacking. Might have to sample a few more over time. At least I can deal with it much better than before.

Thanks again, everyone for the input. Still amazes me how much the difference in wattage is needed between 3mil and 6 mil nicotine levels.
