Hi everyone... I've been vaping for about a year now, still hovering around 18mg for my nicotine numbers. I would've hoped that I'd taper off, but I guess I just like the stimulant effects of the nicotine too much to sacrifice it. My lungs are much happier, though..

I got started with a 510 clone using disposable cartridges. After about 2 months of going that route, I decided to upgrade my vaping experience and I got myself an Ego starter kit with a CE4. Huge upgrade, it must be said! That said, I found out pretty quickly that I was very much not happy with the top coil type clearomizers...

I got myself a number of Kanger T3s, then the Kanger EVODs, and now I finally upgrade myself to a joyetech EVic as my primary vapor source with Kanger Protank and Protank IIs as my daily vape, with an Ego as my backup...

I always seem to go for the lowest ohms I can find for atomizer heads... 1.5 or 1.8 Ohms... I know some people like them higher, and I'm curious as to why... what are the benefits of higher resistance?

Anyway, hi y'all!

Hey hi!

I'm new myself. Started about 2.5 months ago with an ego knock off and a top coil clearomizer. I'm now using either the same knock off or my ego c-twist and a kanger protank 2, which I LOVE LOVE LOVE. I'm using a 2.2 ohm, I guess I just like the flavor a little better with a bit higher resistance. I don't know much about this world yet, but I was getting a burnt taste in the past.

A few weeks ago I bought a SmokTech Aro at a local b&m. I was going in for a mini protank, but couldn't pass this up at half the price. Pyrex is the way to go no matter what brand you prefer, imo. Bonus that the protank coil heads fit this one as well. I also have an evod. Nope, not pyrex but sure gives a nice vape!

I'm bouncing and playing around between 18 and 12mg right now. No negative effect for me.

Never thought I'd know a day where I could say I'm happy to not be smoking.

Welcome to you!

IMO some e-juice don't like to get hot to fast and low ohm coils heat quickly. I find most of the juice I like vape (higher in VG) like to simmer not boil. so if you find your self vape"N a blend/juice that taste good for just a second on your draw, and starts to "burn" back off on the power or watts/volts and if that do's not work go up in ohms. higher ohm coils take a bit longer to get to operating temperature and generaly chain vaper's love higher ohm cartos. I have a kanger PT2 set up with a 2.6 ohm 1/8 dia coil on cotton at about 7 watts after brake in... let's have a vape ... ... .............wheeew. damn life is good. hope this helps!

There are none, unless you like to take 8 second drags. Welcome to the forum.

I'm using a 100% VG juice right now with my ProTank II, and I vape at 6 watts with a 1.8 ohm...

On some of the 50/50 VG/PG blends, I can go up to 8 watts without a 'burnt' taste, but the PG-only stuff, I've noticed, is pretty sensitive...

And yeah, after going to the Protank, I'm sold on Pyrex tanks. Sooo easy to clean out. I just run vodka through them, shake the old juice out, rinse with vodka again and then I'm good to go with almost no aftertaste. Great for the acidic stuff - I am a big fan of the citrus flavors, but they'd ruin the EVODs for any other flavor...

Just a heads up. The burned taste is just as much a part of the juice you're using, and the amount of airflow as anything else. I tend to steer clear from dark, syrupy juices (regardless of how delicious they can be) because of this. The terror you experience from a 'dry burn' is really just the taste of the gunky build up that has developed on the coil of whatever atty, tank, clearo you are using. If your atty or whatever isn't wet with juice, you will be tasting the crud I just described.

If your atty is relatively free of gunk, you will not be likely to get the horror I described regardless of how low your resistance, or how high your voltage.
