Hey everyone.

Recently stopped smoking due to the cigarettes odor and my job in customer support, so on my way home I stopped at an AM-PM and (You can already guess what happened next) I noticed an obscured stand with three boxes on it advertising nicotine and vapor.

The Xhale 02 kit.

Thought it was cheap enough, and since I didn't want to hear any more complaints I decided to give it a go (even if they only had the menthol variety). To be honest I am not too thrilled about this particular e-cig, it feels ok but it doesn't hit as good as my regular camels and the taste leaves a lot to be desired.

It is helping me manage my stress (which is the reason I smoked in the first place) and I've had no more complaints regarding odor, so its a good bet I'm not going back to cigarettes.

So now I have to decide on a better kit, I place priority on battery life and widest compatibility. (a nice price is good as well)

In any case, Just introducing myself and saying hi, any counsel for a better kit is appreciated, though I have a LOT of reading to do.

Heyas Odra,

Welcome to the ecf! And woot on the decision to quit smoking!

Liberty Flights has Riva 510 kits starting at ~$30 Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510 . I have an ego, not a riva, but they're very comparable from all that I've read. And the riva is very well spoken of here. Liberty flights seems to have some of the best prices around, and they've shipped very promptly when I've ordered from them. a 650mah batt like the riva or ego lasts me more than a full day (moderate vaper here), and with a starter kit that has 2, you can use one while charging the other.

The 510 threading, like on the riva or ego, also seems to offer the widest variety of accessories without an adapter. With an adapter, you can make almost anything work with anything (except perhaps chargers, but that's a different story).

Many others are are sure to chime in with suggestions. Just thought I'd throw in my :2c:

And whatever you end up choosing, don't forget a variety of flavors in small bottles (3ml - 10ml) of juice.

:D

Hope this helps,
Maximillian the Moderately Mischievious

Welcome aboard :)

First some primer info:
E-Cigs use either a cartomizer, or an atomizer to hold the liquid and turn it into vape. Cartos hold some amount of liquid in them for longer vaping sessions without having to touch a 'bottle of liquid'. Atomizers either use a seperate cartridge to hold the liquid, or you can drip small amounts into them at a time right out of the bottle.

Now for my recommendation.

OK, people give me fits for recommending a 'box shaped thing' as a first real ecig, but for the money these things are quite nice. Everything you need for all day vaping (except some liquids of your choice that you'd buy separately), AND you can carry everything you need for all day vaping right there in your fist. The learning curve isn't one iota worse than anything else out there. The only drawback is 'psychological'. Does it HAVE to look like a ciggy?

For under 50 bucks...the Boge Revolution V2.1 (with 1400mah batteries @3.7v).

It has a bottom feeding bottle. It's designed to work with Boge 510 vertical coil cartomizers and comes with 5 of them at standard resistance (you might also want to order a box of 2 Ohm LR cartos to try on it for your first few weeks for a little 'warmer' hit). Also included is a wall based charger.

The battery in this thing is also big enough to safely run 1.5 Ohm Dual Coils for most of a day(Heavy/Warm Hitting Cartos) if you want to try those at some point.

When I want to vape a different flavor that isn't loaded in the bottle, I just screw on my favorite loaded cartomizer.

These things are very light and fit the hand and pocket well. They have two long lasting li-poly batteries in them that easily go all day (more like two days for me). No extra charger is needed, just plug the thing into the included charger, or use a mini USB cord to charge it on a computer. It can be vaped while it charges. These type batteries are rated to last a good 2 years or more (around 3,000 charge cycles), and you never have to fiddle with them.

Even if I never used the bottom feeder and treated it more like an eGo or something, I'd find the little V2 worth the $50 I paid for it. It's not the best bottom feeder out there, but it is one of the least expensive for something that comes loaded with great batteries, a charger, and can be vaped all day. If you buy any other box mod that bottom feeds, you'll get close to this price and still not have batteries and a charger, and five 5 cartos, to go in them!

Here's a V2 Review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b81qEbS5nsY
Note: The V2.1 still has the alien lights on top, but no anion thing in the unit, instead it has an extra battery bringing it up to 1400mah.

Just something optional I've learned:
Here lately, I add a tube from an old windex bottle to the bottle and use regular 510 atomizers (or my preferred, a typical LR 801 atty with an adapter) instead of the cartos, but that's just me. Every few hits, I give the bottle a few squeezes with my thumb and cold-draw to pull liquid into the atty...then I'm good to go for 8 to 12 hits or more. Sometimes it even auto feeds for me once I get it primed and going.

Welcome and I have to agree with the Riva , for price alone . But you may also want to check out the E-Power , 3.7 volts and replacing the batteries is way cheaper than the Riva , and EGO PV's . And I think they run around 45.00 but use all the standard 510 stuff , atty's , carto's , etc. Good luck . And at least your crappy kit , got you off the stinky's .

Welcome to ECF. All the models mentioned here are good but my preference is the Riva.
When choosing batteries remember:
Single Coil Cartomizers
100 mah= 1 hr Vaping time
Dual coil cartos
100 mah= 1/2 hr
Only allow your batts to discharge to 25%- they last longer.
Libertyflights has a 20% off coupon code also.

I'll chime in and say I have thoroughly enjoyed my Riva from Liberty Flights, and also my eGo. I am now moving on to a box mod, but don't think I would have been comfortable with one as my first good pv. (I started with a Blu starter kit, probably quite similar to your Xhale 02 kit.)
Get your posts up and look at the pictures of your set up thread, and read, read, read. Get what you think you will be comfortable with.
Welcome to ECF and congrats on putting down the ciggies!

Hi, I'm new as well. In two weeks I went from starting with an Apollo kit that looked like a real cigarette but not enough umph! So I moved on to the Kgo from hoosiersecigs and have already graduated to a Reo mini bottom feeder box mod red/black from reosmods. All this in two weeks. Kgo is excellent and kicks like a real Cig. I'm a chain vapor and the batteries last me anywhere from 10 to 12 hours each. The Reo mini is the best all around, so well built I'm going to buy a Reo Grand. But on the cheap, kgo kit from hoosiersecigs is $42 bucks and rocks. My wife has one in pink. Also these units use e juice unlike the Apollo that used pre filled cartomizers.

I agree with Renzuli. I would def check out the E-Power 14650. Its a 3.7V like the Riva but uses non-proprietary batteries instead. E-Power batteries cost $4 compared to Riva/eGo batteries that are$14-20. Everything is replaceable on the E-Power too so it keeps costs down. You said you wanted long battery life, the E-Power has 1050mah batteries, and you get 2 of them. One battery lasts me about a day and a half. It also uses a 510 connection, which is prob the most polular so it will be compatible with alot, like you said you wanted. Also you said you wanted a good deal and I think the deal for the E-Power is really good. (Read below) I would def get a E-Power or a Riva.

Read this about the E-Power : http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ne-considering-buying-e-power-14650-read.html

This will show you why you might like the E-Power more than the Riva/eGo.

Also it will show you where to get if for the best deal. (Crystal Clear Vaping)

Youll get a FREE 5 pack of "Ressurector" cartomizers, a FREE 30ml juice of your choice, and FREE shipping.
Plus if you put in "ecf5off" youll get 5% off your order.

I think this is a great package and a really good deal. It cost $57 but your getting over $25 worth of free stuff!
The ressurector cartos are awesome and youll get to try them for free. And a free 30ml of juice is nice to get you started.
(I recommend the Black & Mild juice for your free one. It really good and very tasty. I dont really think it tastes like a Black and Mild but its very good. Has a nice maple like flavor on the exhale and is VERY flavorful and produces a ton of vapor.)

Goodluck!

I second the Riva 510 kit. I ordered one for my BIL and one for myself, since I needed some backup batteries. My eGo batts were over a year old and one failed. I use the Riva batts for some juices and the eGo batts for others, depending on whether I want a 3.4v vape or a 3.7v vape.

The 510 thread is a widely used connection with lots of accessories and battery options. You can use just about any style of atomizer with a 510. Adapters are available if you just have to use an 808, 801, 901, or other atty. Boge cartos are widely available in the 510 thread, also.

Congratulations on quitting smoking! IMHO the progression usually is 1. Buy a retail ecig and find it terrible or "meh" but good enough to choose to quit. 2) come here and purchase a 510, Riva or 808 cigarette clone or fat-bat 3) many decide they want a little more as far as battery life, juice feeding, throat hit, flavor or versatility and upgrade to a mod or "modified ecig."

The choices are all up to you. My recommendation would be to make sure to check out the vendors who are approved here first - they're tried and proven to be good (ECF rejects more than 1/2 the vendors who apply and kick out bad ones), decide whether battery life or something that looks like a cig is a priority for you and, finally, shop!!

Good luck and welcome to the ECF!!

No offense intended, but that Boge revolution is garbage, and leaks all over the place. For a cheap bottom feeder look at the wetbox.

Mine doesn't leak at all. Over 4 months use.
I even added a simple tube and bottom feed standard atties.

Every thing I need for up to two days of vaping right there in one ultra light unit.

Not impressed with the wet-box here. At the same price range it has NO Batteries, no charger, no cartos, etc. Doesn't work any better to me either.
