Just received my new SS GGTS from COV. When received the switch button wasn't affixed to the post, so I screwed the switch button to the post and adjusted the throw on the switch. However if I lean the GGTS the botton will slide in and make contact with the post and it will fire. It seems there should be some kind of tension that will keep gravity from causing the GGTS from firing. Something like a spring or sumtin or is there a trip to setting the button up so that it wont fire from just leaning the device on its side where the button is facing up.

Sorry for the likely dumb question.

Thanks for the any help in advance.

It sounds like the spring inside the switch housing is missing or your adjustment on the switch is set too low.
Can you try setting it to a higher throw and see if theres better resistance. If not then I would take the switch housing apart and look for the spring.
Chris

There is no spring, just the contact post, the part that screws into the tube that holds the button assembly and the button head. Basically the button is floating and if I keep the button facing down it doesn't fire when I don't want it to but if I face it up, if fires. Guess I should get in touch with COV and try to get a spring, based on what you said here.

Yep...supposed to be a spring in there right under the button head.

Specifically: GG New 2012 Replacement Button Spring

If for some reason they can't help you I have a few extras at the house, also I've ordered magnets that will work like the spring. I find I prefer magnets overall as they don't lose tension. Don't have them yet but should be here in a few days.

This is like the thread of the dog avatars...

Chris and his noble looking dog. Black lab?

My Jack Russell Terrier being bitten by my other jack russell when she was a puppy. He's bearing his teeth but you can see in the back round the puppy is chomping his arm.

And of course the bulldog avatar.

LOL. I caught that too. Mine is a great Dane I bought on line for boat loads of money that arrived as a lab. But we love her so it doesn't matter.

The Spring from a click pen should also work... you may need to cut the spring a little if the tension is to tight for your liking...

I'm in the same boat as the OP with the missing button spring. The click pen spring (which I end up taking one home from work every day) works fine for now, until I hear back from COV. And wow does this thing hit great!!

I like the magnet idea, never have to replace. Where can I get some that work in the switch?

Thanks
