I've been vaping for a week now, and am looking for advice/feedback on my gear/etc, and have a couple of questions.

**Gear
eGo C-Twist (1000 mah I think, took 4.5 hrs to charge from empty on wall charger)

Aspire ET BDC (with 2 spare BDC coils)

Chesapeake Vape Black Honey Tobacco 12mg 60PG/40VG (I think, the bottle is only labeled with maker/flavor/nic mg)**

I've gotten about 48 hrs per battery charge and approx 48 hours (give or take) on the 3ml Aspire ET tank. I feel like that's pretty good based on how often I hit the vape (nearly all the time vs 2-3 analogs an hour)

So far, it's been a pretty good week in that I've cut back on my 1.5 packs a day habit to .5 - .75 pack a day. The "craving" for a analog occurs mostly on waking, after a meal, leaving work, and a few other times throughout the day.

The only purchase I made thus far was the juice, as I got this gear from my Mom who did not like it due to the fact that it hurt the throat/almost made us gag.
A friend gave it to her and the juice was Dekang Turkish Tobacco 18mg.
I went to my local vape shop, and spoke to them about my concerns starting vaping, and after trying a few juices, I picked the Chesapeake Vape Black Honey Tobacco 12mg.

First real question - should I up my nicotine mg to avoid analog cravings? Just worried about it being too harsh and turning me off of vaping.

Second question - I feel like I'm looking to concentrate more on flavor than cloud production, and due to some internet research, have bought one BVC coil to replace the BDC coil that came with it. I read the BVC coil can produce more flavor. I'm also going for a low temperature vapor.
I've never really noticed a "throat hit" when smoking analogs, so not sure that I'm seeking that per se.

Any juice recommendations? So far, just decided to stick with a tobacco flavor to ease the transition, but am open to other ideas.

Also, the first few days I feel like I was "mouth-to-lung" hitting, and in the last 3-4 days I feel like I've been "lung" hitting. I generally hit the fire button, puff once or twice, and then inahle for 3-5 seconds

Portability - really wish I could just put this in pocket like a pack of analogs, but due to the length I've just been carrying in a front shirt pocket when assembled, and disassembled in an old hard-sided eyeglass case in my pant pocket, which makes it not very convenient.

Anyways, looking for advice/information/comments/etc and I'm sure I'll come up with more as I go along. Thanks for any/all responses. I'll also be cross-posting this a few places to ensure the widest audience.

Whoa up. They'll just delete your cross post s
Thanks for the tip. I posted in the New Member Information one first, and then noticed the direction to Simple Solutions after that, so I then posted here. Hopefully they'll take pity on the new guy and let them both stand in order to expose my questions to more people

Congratulations on cutting back on the cigs! You seem to be on the right track.

I too was a 1.5 pad smoker and I started at 36mg nic. The equipment was not as efficient back then as it is now though. I agree with r7 about upping your nic level. Will be worth a shot for sure. Most likely what it will take to get you off the cigs.

You may want to consider getting a lanyard for your Ego? It would hang around your neck but can be tucked behind your shirt.

I will say that I do prefer the Aspire BVC to the BDC when it comes to flavor.

Welcome to ECF and good luck.

ETA- Stick to the higher PG levels rather than high VG levels for flavor rather than vapor. A 70/30 mix may serve you well. Also, you may want to try a few sample sizes of flavors that look good to you until you find what you like.

Thanks for the response - I think I'll get 10ml of 18mg next time so if I don't like it I won't be out much.

I just personally don't like the idea of walking around wearing it as a necklace all the time, and I'm used to carrying my "smokes" in my pants pocket. Once I'm at the office, I'll 95% of the time have a shirt on with a front pocket, so I just assemble when I'm there, but on days off at home or driving, was hoping to be able to carry it like I did my analogs. Anyways, I guess I can get a cheap lanyard and give it a shot.

Thanks again for the response & advice.

You may want to look at a small box type device. Something like an iStick 30W would probably work for you. Just be careful putting a PV in your pocket that it does not accidentally fire while in there.

When I first tried ecigs in 2007, I thought "hey I'll use the same nic level in the cigs I smoke now"...didn't work. The second time I maxed out at 24 mgs. Since I like coffee and associated it big time with smoking I got a decent coffee flavor and bingo it worked! Took me about a month and a half to get off the analogs totally, but within a few weeks I was down to less than half a pack from a 2 pack a day habit. Now I'm down to 6 mgs juice and I haven't had the craving. When I smoked I needed a cig within 10 minutes awake. Now I'm an hour into my morning routine before I press the button. The REAL test is walking into your favorite watering hole and not craving a smoke....

Get/make a neck holster with a lanyard...it's handy and you can tuck it in your shirt pocket or inside your button up shirt.

BTW: I smoked for over 40 years!

If you believe your e-liquid comes anywhere close to tasting like a cigarette, then more power to you. However, because e-liquid flavors come from food flavoring agents, you'll not likely find one that tastes like a tobacco cigarette. Most people who are successful in quiting soon drop their tobacco flavor and move on to a fruit or desert flavor, once their taste buds have healed.

Tips for Novices Seeking Tobacco/Cigarette Flavors

One thing I try to convince new vapers is to understand that vaping is not as simple as smoking was. That means there may be inconveniences involved using a vaporizer, and that includes the larger size compared to a pack of cigarettes. Small price to pay for the success in stopping smoking. There are "shorter" setups than the one you are using that may be more pocket-friendly.
