Hey everyone,
I just recently started vaping for my own reasons. I do not vape any nicotine, just the flavors. I am starting to feel a little weight build up in my chest. Is this normal or a noobie thing that just goes away? I am unsure if water builds up in the lungs from the vapor or not and am a little worried about its effects on said lungs.

Hello, I personally can't vape liquid with a high percentage of VG(vegetable glycerin) for extended periods or I get the same heavy chest feeling, everyone is different though. Do you know what the vg/pg ratio is in your liquid? Of course, it does'nt have to be that, could just be you're not used to it and it will go away.

if you just quit smoking check out A list of symptoms when quitting tobacco and changing to an ecigarette under thread starter Health, Safety and E-Smoking on this board [ sorry cant post links yet ] if your new to inhaling any substance well i'd think you would get at least some lung irritation to begin with but just remember i am not a doctor so

I've met people with a mild allergy to VG, not enough to harm them per say, but enough to cause them discomfort when vaping it. Whether that's the problem or not, I can't say, but VG does also create a much thicker(dense) vapor, that on exhale can leave the inside of your nose feeling wet. I'd do like everyone else suggested, and go lower to no VG.

I had the same heavy feeling in my lungs that you describe.

This is how I determined what my problem was:
I ordered an unflavored bottle of every pg/vg blend option available from Mt Baker. I also ordered 3 assorted bottles of just flavorings that I felt sure didn't cause any reactions in my lungs.
All of this cost under $50.00. It was a cheap experiment, all things considered!

I vaped one pg/vg unflavored percentage at a time only with a small amount of flavoring added so I didn't feel deprived. As soon as I felt the lung heaviness return, I emptied the tank and started up with a new percentage. And so on and so on.

It didn't take long to figure out that any more than 35% VG was causing the problem for me.

As time has gone on I have found that certain flavorings can bring on the heavy feeling as well. That was so much easier to figure out because I had already eliminated the VG issue first.

I hope you figure out what is causing the heavy lung feeling for you!
Good luck and welcome to ECF!
