Well hello all

Just a little background :
I have been a none Smoker for 1week 4days and 14hr at the time of writing this post.
A co worker turned me on to vaping he has been doing it for some time and has informed me that I will have more stuff then he does at the rate I am getting it in less then a month.

I have 2 boys ages and 8 and 10. I have been trying to quit smoking for over 3 years now on and off on and off never kicking the habit for more then a 2 days at one time. I am 38 and have been smoking for over 24 years yea you can read I started smoking at 14. When I stopped smoking I was down from 2 1/2 packs a day to about 1 pack a day.

Now on to the good stuff I started with a little started pack of EGO-U ( some off brand ego battery with 2 clearomizers) and a 10mil bottle of juice. That was ok but like most things I do. I go big so that lasted about 3 days before I was on the internet reading reviews and watching Youtube before I placed my First order and boy I didn't hold back. I took what would be my smoking budget for the next month and went internet shopping. 1 pack a day at 6.00 a day for 30 days adds up so I had this little start pack ego and some juice well I did get some more juice along the way at a smoke shop so I had 3 juices a start ego pack and 180.00 dollars to spend. So I sat down and figured out what I thought I wanted.

1. Mod (Need More Power)
2. Carto tank
3. Carto's
4. Atomizer Tank style
5. juice and lots of it all diffirnt flavors

So what I got and where I got it at
1. Mod: VV650 VAMO V2 STARTER KIT no atomizers - color : Black Chrome, Power Plug : USA From: Vaporbreak.com 33.49 shipped
2.Carto tank and Cartos:10X 282 Boge F16 Tank Cartomizers,3X 233 Boge F16 Cartomizer Tank, 2X 239 5ml Blunt Tip Syringe (18ga) and a drip tip from Surevapes.com 43.22 shipped
3. 2 Kanger T2 from my Friend who got me into Vaping( SCORE FREEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!)
4. JUICE lets just say my First order form Mt Baker Vapor scored me over 150mil of Juice for 38.96 shipped

So I have spent over 115.00 dollars on just the stuff I have in hand not to say anything about the order I Placed Sat. for a dripper so because I Have allot of juice and want to be able to switch flavors easy and a dripping will let me do just that.

I ordered 2X IGO-L dripping atomizer Rebuildables 20 foot of Silica Wick and 100 ft of Kanthal A-1 32 wire from RTD Vapor for 42.05 shipped

So in less then a month I have spent over 157.00 dollars. Thinking about it now if I had known that it would have helped me as much as it has to quit smoking I would have spent 4 times that if needed. Like I said early in the post I have not had a "real Smoke" in almost 2 weeks and I don't miss it not one bit.

Below is what i started with and what I have now.

So now where do I go and what do I need to get next.....

Thank you for Reading

That's not too bad I'm up over 600 in 8 weeks, trying to not buy anything this week. Got thru last week without buying but already have a shopping cart ready to click order for a few days. Trying not to get more stuff is harder than quitting smoking lol.

Anyways you cant put a price on your health so just do what you need to to keep it up. You will slow down on the spending or so people keep telling me.

Yea, that's a very solid start. I really recommend holding off on rebuilds until you pick a few experienced members brains on it. Just a few things to remember:

From RolyGate here on ECF:

Please note very carefully that rebuildable atomizer coils and wicks have known risks.
Rebuildables are for experts, not average or beginner vapers with no multimeter or knowledge of how to use a meter, or when a meter must be used, or how electronic devices work. These materials cannot safely be used by the inexperienced or those without basic knowledge of electronics.

This is because:

1. A rebuildable coil/wick MUST be tested carefully with a meter before it is used.
2. If it is not tested it may damage the device it is used on.
3. Faulty wicks/coils WILL blow electronic devices.
4. New coil/wick units must be tested and then used first on a strong basic electrical APV such as a Silver Bullet, that will not be destroyed by a short circuit.
5. No new coil/wick assembly should be used on an electronic device until known to be safe.
6. These items destroy electronic devices if faulty. This is a known issue.
7. These items have inherent risks and may go faulty at any time even if they were originally in good working order. The owner bears the cost of equipment damaged as a result.
8. RAs or RTAs must only be used on equipment that cannot be seriously damaged or harm the user. In practice this could mean an electrical device with a hot spring (fuse) or an electronic device that will not activate if there is a short-circuit (a dead short). Unfused devices or unprotected electronic devices will suffer damage when used with a faulty RA or RTA.

Good Luck and Welcome to ECF and congratulations on your excellent start!

Mechanical mods would need to take more care in building coils, most apv have protection as do my batteries. Even ego twists have protection, there are some risks with unprotected batteries and devices. The older batteries and devices had issues but things have come a long way the past few years and allot better protection.

ROFL..................................
First off congrats, right behind u 4 days....
But thank u for not making me feel so bad.
I started with the ego-C 650 mah passthrough batt. black.
With a silver Kanger Clearomizer.
So needless to say the obsession began, so finally after
going to the store and asking did they get the ego 1000 mah passthrough.
I did find a silver 650 online and ordered two.
So now depending on my mood I will be able to switch between black and silver.
I must say the blue batts look prettry nice.
Lol lol lol..........................

As for 'are you going to fast' no.. unless you think you are.

We all react differently we all need things at different times and part of why vapers do well is we have our toy.. some need but a few - some need them in bulk and then there are others all along the spectrum in between. I know a vaper that after 2 years of vaping still is only using his original purchase, its now in 'well loved condition'. He has never even bought a backup, has one favorite flavor that he buys bottle by bottle as he needs to. Its not money, he could afford to own the e-cig store if he wanted to - its just how it is with him. And he is what I would call a heavy vaper, so its not that he does not vape all the time but he has never had an urge to expand. And then there is another friend who shops the online venders like a champ. He knows what the latest and greatest before the demos are released and live for being on the advanced or pre-order list. He lives for his vape mail and usually never a day goes by,except holidays, that he isn't getting vape mail of some sort. He's not rich but vaping has become his hobby so thats where is money goes. He just says at least people shut up about him burning up his money on cigarettes.

I got my hands on my first PV and could not wait for the store to open the next day to get a backup, eve slept badly worrying about what would happen if mine broke or I had to recharge it before I got my hands on another one. (actually I did need to recharge it while the new one was on its first.. looooong.. charge and that was a rough couple of hours I was nearly in tears before one turned green).

It was all on after that. I was still going to the tobacco shop daily but for their e-cig supplies, hardware, e-juice etc. I knew their stock better then they did, I did the vendor surfing like a nut case - this was long before i knew about ECF so I was on my own without even and one to recommend anything or any vendor or explain the differences between what I was looking at and a zebra). I learned a lot that way.. spent a lot too - but I got a very good idea of what I "needed" for how I vaped buy and what I liked or did not like.

After I had things like backups for my backups for 3 different setups that could not back each other up (if I wanted it backed up with something close to what broke) and had all the (at that time anyway) current accessories, atomizers, tanks, carts, clears, cases, lanyards, PV jewelry, replacements, rebuilding supplies (still have not ventured into that), DIT starter supplies, tools, cleaning equipment, utensils, a wide variety of bottles, filling caps, (anything you could fill e-liquid with). I will totally admit that some of this stuff has barely been touched, some the box opened, what's in it looked over and it sits there waiting until I need it. And that does not include e-liquid.

I had to try any interesting e-juice vendor I happened across, tried many many flavors and learned what I liked and disliked in the flavor range, learned that a flavor from one maker would taste sometimes different from another. Chasing and collecting e-juice really helped when I finally broke into the DIY started kit at least when it came to picking what flavor combinations I liked..

Its slowed down now, think it likely does if you a big intense buyer right off. Later its still exciting to look at and get new stuff but its more in the realm at least of 'whats new out there that has features I have never tried and is not just a slight upgrade or like what I already have' then just 'oops I don't have that gotta get it and you can walk away from the internet unless it falls in the former.

E-juice purchases have slowed down a bit - i really look back now and think i had gone too far with that. Making my own slowed me a lot but I don't think it was just because i could customize my flavors and make what I wanted but because it kept me away from the computer (gives you an idea of how much I was buying). Then I was to the point where I had some favorite vendors that hand my favorite flavors and enough of a menu that if I started feeling like something other than what was in a cabinet I didn't have to go to an untried vendor - one of my usuals would have it so that broke me from the "there is not an e-juice vendor on the internet that I have not yet purchased e-juice from" shopping pattern.

I don't look back and say I went too fast, or should have waited for other people to advise me, or i bought too much, or too advanced or anything like that. It was how I was, and basically what helped me the most at the time (and did not hurt many vendors). I guess I am luck most e-juice can hang around and wait its turn for a year or two.

If your happy where you on in you moving through hardware and accessories and juice, then go with how you feel not how someone else thinks your timeline should be. They are not being mean or telling you wrong, they just are repeating their experience to you and maybe don't realize that the "rate" of getting vaping supplies or moving up to more advanced models or buy out the e-juice vendor can be as individual as how a flavor tastes to you. Its, like ost of vaping, very subjective.

The only time that you might need to hear your 'going to fast' if things like bills are not getting paid so you can buy that new VV passthrough that just came out for $100 and get that $200 mod you liked or ordering 10 bottles of hand made flavors from a master mixologist at 15 dollars a pop. If you're not scrimping to finance the e-cig life you're now living then you're okay.

Not to set you off on another place to go crazy with (but i will anyway) but if you like different colored batteries other than just black or silver.. have you discovered the wraps you can use to have them in different colors or patterns never made the manufacturer. I just got started on that when someone posted about them in another forum did not like all their patterns so took a chance and googled ego wraps and found out that there were a bunch of vendors that sold these....got to order a few here and there you know, since the vendors with wrap I never bought from before, and not having ever had some need a bunch to compare....already got some - expecting some vape mail today with more...on another binge and they but a holiday in the middle of it!

Congrats man, I'm on a similar boat, make that a Space Shuttle actually ... maybe to get the hell out of cigarette world as fast as I can?

I've spent about $250 in my first week, just trying out different starter hardware and liquids to try to find what would work for me. It's been just over a week now and I read about, research and experiment all day long, with the hardware and the liquids, been in and out of the local stores and taking all the new info like a sponge.

There's a lot of fancy and cool looking stuff out there. For the time-being, I've chosen to go with a simple, effective and compact set up: eGo C-Upgrade 650mAh, with V2 Tanks. I'll reserve some of the fancy hardware for a special occasion.

Vape on, brother
