BAckground is I was a 1 to 1.5 pack a day red 72 smoker. Bought a Mistic and Nicotek compatible prefilled carts and all was good for a few weeks. Battery life is ok but it came with 2 so I could live with that. Was curious what I might be missing so I bought a Riva manual kit with stardust V3.1 tank. It was awesome for a day then tasted like burnt crap. Changed heating element, good for a day and then burnt. I kept the tank full all the time. All during this period I keep going back to my Mistic. I read that BLU carts will fit the Riva so I get a box of those. Taste like crap so I boil them out and refill. Works ok but still not on par with mistic. Search forum and find out that maybe the resistance is different. Mistic is at 2.6 ohms and BLU is at 3.2.

So bottom line is that I'm stuck and don;t know what to get.

Whats a good tank? I wasn't impressed by the Stardust wicking string thingy. Burning out 2 in 2 days sucks.

Whats a good cartomizer? What resistance should I get? Looks like most come in at 2 or 3. Are there any that are 2.5? I read that to low can fry a battery. How low can I go with the Riva?

Thanks for all the help. I'm tryng here and the Mistic is saving my but.

I wasn't impressed with the stardust either. If you're getting a burnt taste with a full tank after a day, you may want to try a different e-liquid. The darker/sweeter the e-juice is, the quicker it will gum up your carts/wicks/coils.

If you want to try something else, I recommend the smoktech tank with boge cartomizers. 3.7v is about the lowest you would want to go; if you like a warmer vapour with better throat hit you will eventually want to get a variable voltage battery, the Ego-twist type batteries aren't too expensive and make a huge difference.

A lot of people would recommend the Ego-twist because of its vv capabilities and its pretty low pricetag I attached a graph of Voltage to Resistance so you can figure out what might be going on at your end. What people have recommended to me is getting the Ego-Twist V2 and I am planning on getting 2 1100mAh batts to go with it, also Kanger T3 clearomizers seem to be very nice from what I hear and are relatively cheap.

Much agreed. The ego twist is the best Variable bang for your buck out there. Trow any smoketek style tank and carto on there and youre good to go. I prefer the single coil 2.0 ohm carts. They can handle the 4.8 that a twist will put out while still giving a good hit at the lower settings.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to try the resurectors and see how they do. I don't know if I'm ready for another tank yet though. I haven't found my all day vape yet but there are a few flavors that I like. Just not enough to fill an entire tank. Maybe once I find that flavor I will try a tank again. I have also been using 18mg juice which may be a bit harsh for all day vape. Thinking of trying the 12 and see how that goes. Thanks!

OK, the carto tanks are different than the clearomizers you were talking about in your OP. A carto tank just holds juice in reserve for the cartomizer, the clearo tank holds juice for the wicking atomizer. A carto (without holes punched for the tank) can be used without any tank of any kind, you just have to keep it juicy by dripping.

Might check out a Kanger T3 or a vivi nova, those are solid clearos.

I use SMOK eGo Mega Shorty cartos on my eGo batteries for stealth vape.

I've was just eying that black and mild. Come back and tell us how you like it after giving your new cartos a test run. Wish I'd been as bright as you and given up on stardusts before buy so many "one more tries."

Other than the Vapoligy French Vanilla I haven't found a flavor I really like right out of the bottle. But Vapoligy is the only brand I have tried since I bought the entire kit and flavors at their store. I did some mixing today with 20 drops of USA tobacco, 10 of choclate expresso, 5 of spiced apple and 5 vanilla. Vaped that all day and it was awesome. Gonna see if I can replicate it again.
