I'm new to the forum, and new to whole vape scene. Any advice given or opinions will be greatly appreciated. I bought me a vamo v5, a sub tank nano,18650 battery, and a charger two weeks ago. I can't use the .5 ohm, only the 1.2. I have been using space jam juice (omega). For some reason, everytime I take a hit, my throat gets irritated and i cough up my guts. I started adding 10ml of vg to a 30ml bottle. Seemed to help out alot. I then, put it into boiling water(sealed in the bottle). I find that heating up the liquid allows it to mix better. I'm running it at 4.5 volts and 1.1ohm =18 watts. Any suggestions or tips to improve my vaping experience? Either more vapor, better flavor, or denser vapor. Thank you.

Yes; lower the voltage.

For some reason a lot of people seem to think they're supposed to be able to just set the voltage or power and somehow be able to vape at that level.
That is not the case; you start low and more up until you find the sweet spot for your combination. That is why your vamo makes it easy for you to raise (+) or lower (-) your voltage/wattage.

How could I up my ohms? Since kanger tech only sells 1.2 and .5 ohm coils for this tank?

Standard ecig voltage is 3.7 volts; coils are usually designed to work around that voltage.

If you want to try higher ohms there are 1.8 ohm coils for the subtanks

You could by the sub-tank, use the rebuildable section, buy a bag full of prebuilt 1.5-1.8 ohm coils on Amazon... Cheap.

Their a lot better than the OCC coils too, no snap-crackle-pop.....:)

Their so inexpensive, I don't bother wrapping coils any more.

Thanks for the link, moved the volts down to 3.3v-3.5v and it seems to be working better. What brand of juice do you recommend? The stores around here only have store-made juice. They smell chemically and it was harsh on my throat even at 3.6v.

I am starting to suspect you're getting dry hits. Since you're going through coils every few days, that leads me to believe that the coil is getting too dry and burning the cotton.

Adding more VG won't help much in the long run. Try this to test it.. put your finger over the airhole and take a slight inhale... not too hard at all. By blocking the airhole, when you inhale, it will try to come from the tank instead... it will draw more juice into the coil.. but it can also cause it to flood, so that's why I said slight (not even as much as your lightest hit.. When I do this, I do it for not even1/4th a second). do this without even pushing the button.

Second, Try getting used to the wattage mode on the vamo. I think you'll find it much more consistant
Lastly, go super easy on the threads. I mean, you have to baby the Vamo's threads. I have my Vamo V3 since it was released. I made one mistake with the Vamo V5, and it stripped. those threads are made of a soft metal. I love the vamo, just can't use it anymore. I would take the connection off the Vamo V3 and put it on the V5, but they're totally different colors (gunmetal Vs. Brushed stainless).
Now, as far as juice, I like Mt. Baker Vapor. I see you're from Savannah, I am from Lawrenceville. Here, they have Madvapes, and I really don't like their juice. That's why I order from Mt. Baker, they seem to be consistant. However, they do mix it fresh, so some will have a chemical taste until it "steeps". Currently, I buy 30 ml of 18mg 50/50 juice. I then take that 30ml and put half into an empty 50ml bottle. I then fill the rest with VG and mix vigorously.I wait a bit, then mix again.... then wait.. whole process takes about 10 minutes. works fine forme though.

18mg for 15ml with 35ml of 0mg added comes out to roughly 6mg juice.

I was planning on getting the basics down, before I moved on to a rebuildable Section. I like the amount of vapor sub ohm coil puts out, but I would have to buy a new mod to go lower then 1.1 ohm.

If you wanted to "dip your toes" into rebuilding, you could try rebuilding the Kanger subtank coils. All you need is a bit of Kanthal and organic cotton. You can get organic cotton at Wallgreens prety cheap, or if your vape shop has it, you can get some ko jen do (sp?) or Muji cotton. A bit more expensive, but still comparitively cheap in the long run. Rip trippers shows how to do it here. He uses 26 gauge, but for the Vamo, you might need to use 28 gauge and adjust the wraps to get 1.2 ohms. Just don't throw away your old coil heads, they can be rebuilt, and used as a learning tool. :)

First off omega uses a couple alcohol based flavors and needs to steep open for a day at least or 30 min in hot water. It is also a higher pg content and doesn't need high power. Run it around 3.5v

2nd you probably started out way too much for what you need. Your mod is good but your tank is not new vaper friendly in that you don't have coil options in the 1.6-2.2 ohm range. A major mistake on Kangers part. I see many new Vapers with the same issues as you and it's all because if the sub tank/Atlantis high power push. Keep your sub tank but go get a nautilus with 1.8ohm coils. If your going to rebuild get all the proper tools and start out @2ohms and work from there up or down as you progress in your vaping

It's true Kanger did nonsense only offering 0.5 and 1.2 with the subtank initially, but subtank users do have coil options in the 1.6-2.2 ohm range.
Here is an example of the 1.8 ohm subtank coil:

I'm a newbie myself. First got those Mark (something) e cigs you could get for free cuz its Phillip morris' (still their name?) Ecig offering and they can afford the experiment. Had ok experience. I have a White Rhino and am not satisfied. No throat hit.
My Advice is read read read.
I know battery effects how hard cig hits(ssetting may be why you are coughing). Also know many makers make vapes with crazy high mAmprage batteries that go beyond what is useful. I see you've bought a unit you can customize. That's good. I've read clear tanks (llike on my Rhino) degrade in as little as a couple weeks and start to leak so I gotta get a metal one. I'm considering a lotus starting pack next with adjustable battery. It's $15 at a store up the street with tons of options. Got my White Rhino set for $15. Not dropping $100+ on a device til I decide if it's a viable option to smoking thay may lead to me eventually quitting. I'm vaping cuz it's the only option that give that smoke lung feel. And boss don't like me smoking when im recording. Even though he smokes Capone rillos as hus cig substitute. Smoked the whole time he was in the White Stripes and quit when he Had kids. There I go again. Damn. Incapable of typing less than a page. Ha. Verbosity in motion.

Welcome.....though my experience, if you up the ohms a bit, lower the wattage, seem to get better flavor.
That actually makes a lot of sense. We may be the only two that can see why though. Ha. How much does one run with variable ohms and not just mA? I can probably adjust my not adjustable white rhino. Though wouldn't be accurate and may not be able to go back of I eff up. Side note, had to replace a friends Mcintosh tube amp (!!!) Cuz he didnt wire speakers serial (ex. + output hooked to + input of one speaker and - in - input of another and hook + of that one to - of first one. that reduces Ohm. Not like parallel That multiplies) and blew it by pushing too many ohms.

If you like to vape, a iStick 30 watt with an Atlantis tank is a good combination, their both inexpensive and you can adjust the power on the iStick to suit your taste with the Atlantis tank....or any tank for that matter...even inexpensive Eleaf Air tanks, which have super inexpensive coils which last.
