Hey guys so I'm new to vaping . I'm trying to quit cigarettes and my friend actually had the mvp 2 with kangertech mini protank 2, i liked how it hits almost like a cigarette. so i went out and ordered my set at caterpillarvape, I got the MVP 3. and Kangertech Mini Protank 2. So i got it today and have been messing with it and i have millions of questions.

1. What am i suppose to put the Volts and Wattage at!? the resistense or ohms read at 2.3 (currently i set the Watt at 7.5 and i set the volts at 3.7.. Am i suppose to do just one or the other? or Adjust both?!

2. Why do i get these burning taste and hits?

3. Good brand e juice? MY friend lent me his HALCYON APACH'i e juice and taste pretty good.

Thanks!

Congratulations on trying to quit cigs and trying vaping. Now on to (what I hope) are good answers....

1. You set either volts or watts, if you set the voltage the resistance of the coil will determine the watts and vice versa for setting watts. With a 2.3 ohm coil 7.5 watts would be 4.15 volts, at 3.7 volts you're getting 5.95 watts.

2. The burning taste/hits could be any one of a number of issues. First try setting the volts/watts lower and see if it goes away, if not it's possible you've burned the wick in which case you'll have to change the coil. It's also possible the coil is defective, it's been known to happen.

3. Good brand of ejuice? Now that's opening a Pandora's box...
There are quite a few good brands, and a veritable cornucopia of good flavors. You've tried your buddy's and liked it so you have a starting point. If possible I'd recommend going to a few different B&M's (brick and mortar stores) and sample a number of different juices to find what you like, you can either purchase it there or buy it online afterwards.

Question 1- You can't use both settings at the same time. Which ever one you set last, is the current output. The sweet spot that works for each person varies. But for me, I liked to have the wattage set around 8 up to 10, depending on setting which the flavor came through the best. Voltage works differently, on that the resistance of your coil will also need to be considered.

Wattage is basically set it and forget it, voltage on the other hand, you will need to adjust it depending on the tank and coils resistance inside of it.
* With this being said, I found my happy spot at 8.5 watt and never messed with it. Well, for the most part anyway!!

Question 2- Burnt hits could be many reasons. First, check your settings aren't too high. *see answer to question 1* Second, make sure your not hitting it to fast and hard long draws... its not a cigarette and vape works much differently. Slow pulls work best until you find what works for you. Also, if you find that its nasty burnt and nothing helps, you may need a new coil.
*** And there's more, but these are the basic mistakes. And the ones I'd check first.

Thank you so much ! I kind of get it.. but kind of dont hahhaa, So since you explained to me that i do either volts or watts, im sticking to watts, Is there a right or wrong number i can set the watts at? like right now i ahve it 2.3ohms at 7.5 watts is that good or bad? What would be ideal?

The 2.3 ohms you can't change unless you change the coil (I don't know if Kangar makes lower resistance coils for the Pro Tank or not). As for the 7.5 watts, if that's where you like the vape you get then it's good, if not then drop it down to 6ish and vape it slowly raising the watts until you find your own sweet spot.

So its just my personal preference ! thank you so much!! Man it was so confusing i dont even think my friend gets it! but time to meet him up and tell him what ive learned in just a couple minutes! you guys rock!

Question 3- There are sooo many juice makers out there, its not even funny. The best answer I have, is scour this forum for companies that have been recommended and pick flavors you usually would enjoy.

Some that I have found that I really like are - lowered priced juices: ITC capes, mt baker vapor, and nicquid

More costly favorites are: Five Pawns, Cosmic Fog, Hold Fast Vapors

I don't have many to list, mostly because I quickly learned DIY is best for me personally. Its cheaper and I have what I want.

I hope some of this can help you. I love helping, especially if it means saving an ex-smoker!!

Five Pawns Gambit and Cosmic Fogs Church are two of my favorites. Haven't tried combining them but I'm tempted

All good advice.

One thing I didn't see mentioned was the importance of priming the your coil. It doesn't work very well if you put a new coil in, fill the tank and start vaping away immediately. If the wick isn't wet it will burn. What I used to do with that kind of tank was take a couple of primer draws. Basically suck like you are vaping but don't press the button. That will draw liquid into the coil. Two to four pulls should do it then slowly ramp the watts up.

Pro tanks, Evods and tanks like that are finicky that way. Or you could let it sit for a 10 or 15 minutes after you put a new coil and juice in the tank but I never had that kind of patience.

2. Why do i get these burning taste and hits?

My guess is the burning taste is because your voltage/watts are too high. I am using the Protank 2 mini with the iStick 50 and I have to set it all the way down to the lowest setting of 5 watts (3.6 volts). Any higher and by the third hit, it just tastes like burnt juice. I think with the single bottom coil, it can't wick the juice fast enough. The coils that came with my Protank 2 minis are 2.5 ohm coils. I don't notice a difference in the vapor production whether it is set at 5 watts or higher, just the pop and sizzle is much louder when the wattage is pushed up.

Since wattage is computed by taking the voltage squared and dividing that by the ohms of the coil, setting one (wattage) should automatically change the other (voltage), or vice versa.

I also have a Kanger Geni Mini tank with a 1.5 ohm coil and that I can bring up all the way to 12 or 14 watts and I don't get the burnt taste. One thing could be that the Geni Mini tank, with the adjustable air control is just more airy than the Pro2 mini.

Also, are you drawing hard and fast or slow? I find that with vaping, you get the best results (best taste and vapor production) by doing a slow and easy draw.

Ahhh i think i bought a fake pro tank 2. But not sure.. The authenticy code is not the scratch off one but the scan and the little code. But it doesnt shine in diff colors its silver at all lightings.. good thing i bought another mini protank2 when i bought the mvp just as a backup.. i put that one on and no problem. The new one that came has a purple K sticker that disappears and appears in water. the fake one didnt. Also it came with a authenticy card which again the fake one did not.. oh gawd becareful guys lol or am i trippin!?

I am just going to come out with this.

I have 5, maybe 6 mini Protanks. If you run them at too high power, they will burn.

On the iStick, that means using the minimum setting. (3.0v) which, according to some reviews is actually near 4.0v.
On an Evic or Vamo, that means under 9 watts, maybe even as low as 7.5w.

Even a rebuilt, handmade coil in a mini Protank will not get into double figures.

I can't speak for the MVP v.3, but I'd imagine it's the same as most other mods,
