Hey guys, newbie here and everything here is chinese to me lol. I've been reading up on vaping on reddit and decided to check out a forum to expand my knowledge, but holy ...., its a fun ton.

After doing some reading on reddit, I've decided on getting an ego twist. But what comes next is where I am at a loss. What do I pair it with? I'm not really an analog smoker but more of a hookah smoker. I like it because its relaxing, the flavor and I enjoy playing with the smoke. Also, I want to get into it so I could have my uncle try it for himself to hopefully get him off analogs. Can't really recommend anything to anyone if you don't know about it yourself and my uncle isn't really tech savvy and vaping has boat loads of information.

So anyway, back to my question. What do I pair the twist with? What I'm looking for is a set up where I could get the most vapor I could along with the most flavor. Of course I would be vaping with 0 nic juices and get some 24mg for my uncle when I have him try it out.

Thanks.

Well, alot of what you put on top of that puppy to hold your juice, depends on how much you'll be vaping.

You'll get the best flavor from an atomizer and a drip tip, because there's no filler in there. But atomizers don't hold very much, and if you vape alot, you'll probably tire of constant dripping.

Next step up would be a cartomizer. These hold more juice than an atomizer. They have filler in them, making them leak-free. There are also XL cartomizers (holding more juice)

Then there are small tanks, like the Stardust and clearomizers. They hold more juice than cartomizers. Some people love them, some don't. Matter of personal preference. I personally think they really mute the flavor of the juice.

Then there are larger tanks, like the sub tank, vivi nova, cartomizer tanks like Phiniac etc. These can hold anywhere from 3 mls of juice to about 5 mls of juice, making refills less frequent.

With you being new to vaping, I'd suggest starting out with atomizers and cartomizers, until you find some juices that really 'work' for you. Then maybe start looking into tank systems. You can do taste tests really easy with atomizers. If you like the juice, then you can put some in a cartomizer if you want. This way you don't waste a cartomizer on a juice you don't like.

I did start with this setup and it worked great. When you start vaping it usually takes some time before you find your favourite juices. I still have about 20 little sampler bottles left which I didn't like and without atomizers I would have wasted 20 cartomizers.

I'd recommend good quality 510 or 306 dripping atomizers because I thought I don't like dripping but it was only because I had some poor and cheap 510 atomizers.

Welcome to ECF!

I have to agree with the trial and error part. Good quality atomizers are great for sampling new juices and yes, they keep you from gunking up and wasting a carto if you are really turned off by a particular flavor/mix. Personally, I use a tank system. Between work and making long road trips on the weekends, this is the best setup for me. DO NOT DRIP AND DRIVE! It's like texting and driving(which I DO NOT condone), just messier. I have to use 2 hands to drip. Couldn't imagine doing that at 80mph down the road. If I am on a 7 or so hour road trip and I have to refill the tank, I'll do it when I stop for fuel or a bathroom break. What's an extra 20 seconds?

If there is a brick and mortar store within a distance you are comfortable driving to, I highly suggest making the trip if you have the time. Most places that I know will have samples of the flavors they offer. Some even have dripping atties for you to use. Bring your own drip tip. This way you can see what works for you.

Word of caution...some of us, including me, will notice the explosion of flavor goes away after a little while. From what I understand, this is normal. I just use mouthwash more often and drink lots and lots of water. The taste will come back. Don't get discouraged. My taste buds were so muted from the crap I was smoking and I never knew it until I finally got off the cigarettes. The body will repair itself and this is part of the process. Just stick with it and you will be fine. As far as suggestions for juice, my go to that really gets me through the worst of cravings is Gamer's Apple from iVape. This stuff is the Bee's Knees, man. Disclaimer: Taste is subjective. I love it. Others may find it disgusting. I can't stand tobacco flavored juice. Others claim it is the greatest stuff ever.

Experiment, experiment, experiment....oh, the twist is a great little device. I love mine. I've got more expensive VV mods, but the twist is awesome when I'm at work or in a public setting. It's just easier to get in and out of my pocket than the big boy.

Good luck in your search! You will eventually find that one juice that is your everyday "go-to" flavor when you just need that fix.

I totally agree with getting good quality atomizers for anyone, and I used to like this idea of using an atty to find the juice you like for anyone- but I'm wondering if it's worth it because the newcomer has to learn how learn the basics of using an atty, how to drip, and be trying to clean/dry burn it well when switching flavors.

Some flavors are very hard to remove from an atty, whereas using a fresh carto might give better flavor results. Cost -wise, I'm not sure it'd be that far apart in the end.

This is all just thinking out loud here......trying to best get a newcomer thru the basics with the least cost and helping to smooth out that learning curve.

    Thanks.

I highly recommend getting the bottom coil ce3, also known by many as the Phoenix. It gives tons on vapor and works well with the twist. For a larger tank option, get the vivi nova 2.5.

Personally, I don't like cartomizers or any tank that uses them since cartos can mute flavor. Here is a video that talks about the different options. It uses smokeless image batteries, but the information itself applies to any PV.

That's what I use. A twist with the bottom coil ce3 Phoenix (Firebird in Canada). Tons of vapour and easy to use. I'm tempted to try the new vivi nova 2.5 next time I order but these are working so well for me and then there's the budget.........

The vivi nova is worth the $12-$15 investment. Just make sure you get either the 2.0 or 2.5 version. I think 2.5 version is only sold by Gotvapes. The main difference is the 2.5 version uses a plastic that doesn't crack from juice. Also make sure you buy from a reputable dealer, there are a lot of fakes on the market. The real one does not have brass fittings. The companies selling fakes or even using a copy of the actual VIvi nova box.

Once you have it you only need to buy replacement heads every once in a while for a cost of $2-$3. If you are at all handy you can even recoil and re-wick them yourself. You can buy a 25 yard roll of wire for about $10

Wow you guys are seriously awesome. I was kinda expecting to get yelled at with "use the search button!" x]

Anyway so the general consensus seems to be dripping atomizers for testing flavors since dripping as a primary sounds like a major PITA. What's a good but cheap one to get started with? I also saw video linked by Mroutlaw about making your own out of cartos buuut since i'm new I don't have any cartos laying around (the 1 minute intro videos are a bit much tho)

As for the clearos, people seem to like the bottom coil phoenixes so I might get that.

I live in san diego and I only know of one B&M shops nearby which is called Vapure. Though looking around their site online, they seem to be pretty overpriced a bit (I guess since they hardly have any competition)

Also, I've heard some pretty good reviews about iVape's Sunfires, I also like how they have a 5 pack replacement coil for $6 http://ivape.net/index.php/Product-search.html?keyword=sunfire . Another thing, do these also come with a different name? I can't seem to find them on other sites and i've seen other products that are called many different names

What about the chibi tanks? I saw this video on one of my searches and the amount of vape intrigued me
Infinity Pro Review & Chibi Tank - YouTube

As for juice, I guess I'll hit up Vapure and just get some juice there, if not i'll go look for some online or if you guys have any suggestions. I like fruity flavors/sweet stuff soo if you guys have any that you like, let me know :D

Lastly, what about the upkeep? How often, or rather, how do I know when to replace them, what needs to be replaced and how much are the replacements?

again, thanks :D you guys are awesome

I know about the Chibi tanks. That was my intro into the tank world.:D
I figured they were the cheapest tank I could find, so if I didn't like tanks, it wouldn't be much of a loss of money.
Ended up I loved tanks! lol! The Chibi is a very good starter tank because they are so cheap and they are made well!
You just need to know two things. Firstly, you will need a syringe and needle to fill and refill the tanks. Secondly, since it's a mom & pop type of operation, it will probably take a few days before they ship them to you, but they WILL ship them, don't worry about that.

Wow checked out those Phiniac tanks. They're as beautiful as they are expensive XD. As for the replacement cartos, are there any vendors that sell em pre punched? I don't really know how its done, neither do I have the tools to do so.

Checked out the vivi nova 2.5s as well from gotvapes, unfortunately they're sold out ): Anyone knows another good place where they sell em? I'm kinda weary of the knockoffs.

Bah the more I look into em the more I get confused XD Getting so close to making my final decision then blam, more info, more second guessing

Disclaimer: I'm a bit new, but I was in a similar situation a little while ago.

TAKING THE NEXT VAPING STEP - YouTube

grimmgreen is awesome and kinda funny. His videos helped me get into vaping, and he and this forum help me be confident in my purchases when I decided to move away from the gas station semi-disposables.

Personally, I like dripping when I can…feeling like a mad scientist is part of the attraction, though…and I get that some people won't like the hassle……I think it's easier than almost anything else as long as you have the space to do it. I just de-bridged an atomizer that was tasting burnt this morning, and it's kind of awesome……though even more of a pain because I get fewer puffs per drip because there's nothing to absorb extra liquid. Still……amazing flavor and vapor. I think it's worth it. But I'd never do it away from a desk or coffee table. Because of when and why I drip, I'll probably be buying a couple "dripping atomizers" that come without a bridge (one of the cheaper ones from digitalcigs) in the next few days. I like the idea of the HH.357 atomizer (which costs like $22 for a single one), but it seems like the kind of thing you'd use once you had a few juices that you really liked. It seems like someone still in the "trying out juices" stage would do better to get a small pile of the cheaper $7.50ish bridgeless attys (like the ones from digitalcigs) in case you can't get a juice you hate out of one.

I also really like cartomizers & tanks. The taste is a bit diminished to me, but I find the simplicity is worth it so far. The cheap smoktech tanks seem to work just fine as long as you're a little ginger with them and don't expect too much……they do cost about 1/10 of some of their competitors, and it shows how cheap they are. I just hope the difference shows when I eventually get better ones. Also, I don't think dual-coil cartos (that come with the smoktech DCT packages) work well on the Twist…they try to draw too much current. But any long cartomizer will fit and you can buy the tank without the included cartos…costs less and there's no "useless" junk to throw away. The 3.5ml Smoktech DCT (with a single-coil carto) seems to give me a good bit of worry-free time. And it fits in my pocket on a 650 mAh Ego Twist very well.

I've never used a clearomizer, but I'll probably try out a phoenix bottom coil and a vivi nova when my budget allows. People seem to really like them, and they seem like they're easier to fill……not that carto tanks are exactly hard. Mine take about 2 minutes to fill including prep and cleanup, and I don't think I've had to clean up any spilled juice since the first or second time I did it. For me, the choice would be made entirely on flavor & ease of use.

    Good luck.

I've been dripping for almost three years, and I've never had a flavor that didn't eventually go away.
Granted, some do take longer than others.

I think the pizza flavor and the dill pickle flavor were the ones that took the longest to get past.
    :)

I think most people use an alcohol bath (everclear or vodka) to help speed up the process.
I can't say whether it is worth doing though, because I've never bothered.
