The two biggest questions you need to answer are these two:

How important is it that you e-cig be the same size as a cigarette and do you feel that you can learn to drop liquid into a small container?

The larger the battery, the better your chance to quit smoking. The cigalike batteries only last 3-4 hours between a charge, so you need at least 3-4 of them to last you a day. This gets tiring to change between batteries all day. The smaller batteries are also severely restricted in the variety of juice carrier devices that they use.

The larger batteries (about the size and length of a long cigar) are call eGo's, and are much more convenient if you can get over their size. They can last 7-13 hours between a charge, so you only need 2 of them to last the day. ( You need at least 2; one as a backup and when the other is charging). These also have a better selection of juice carrying devices to put on the batteries.

Size comparison: cigarette with two cigalike sizes, and three ego size batteries.

I highly recommend the larger batteries. I put together a starter setup for a couple of new vapors in the following link. They are the eGo that everyone will likely recommend to you here, and these have variable voltage:

I already listed two juice carrying devices that I recommend for a beginner in the link. But just to learn what else is commonly used by others is listed in this picture dictionary I made:

What an excellent reply, thank you so much! I don't believe the size of the battery will be an issue with me, so I will definitely look into the larger, longer lasting batteries. Much appreciated. Will check out the link now!

Haha that is good to hear! Some of the devices on a few of the sites I have scene look quite creative and hi-tech. My thought on the electronic cigarette was that they all looked like a cigarette, and smoked the same lol. What kind of set up do you personally use if you don't mind me asking?

Vaping has a learning curve, so I have lots of stuff. The main reason you will get so much advice on ECF, is we hope you won't end up spending the money we did, although I have to say that I still use almost everything I've bought, and what I don't, I've loaned to friends to try out. I started with this: ElectronicStix.Com · Original Joye eGo Starter Kit with 510 Atomizers (650 mAh Kit)

Then I got some of these: GotVapes VISION eGo Stardust ™ 1.6ml 2.1-2.4 Long Wick CLEAR [gv-NEWvisionstardust-2.2-CLEAR] - $4.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more and these: Vision MINI Vivi Nova Clearomizer Tank System I also bought a couple of Kangers and Idk what else...

Then there was a regular 1000mAh eGo; then a 1000mAh eGo Twist (my fav, I now have two); and after that I got into carto tanks (which is a cartomizer inside of a tank). I still use all this stuff, but my favorites:

For dripping: a LR306 atty with a Cannon drip tip: Cannon | Drip Tips | Cisco 306 | LR | Atomizers | Cherry Vape
For daily use: An IBTanked glass tank with a LR carto on a 1000mAh eGo Twist (picture below; also the same tank on a 650mAh eGo) I also use a polypro carto tank from Valley View Vapes everyday.

***I only used these links for the pictures, not that they have the best prices or were where I bought mine*** This is my journey, others will certainly vary

I was thinking of Baditude when I suggested you get enough posts to read the blogs. He has some excellent ones explaining gear!

Just curious if I were to go with something like this, 510 Manual Kit, Blue LED, would I be able to use prefilled cartomizers with the batteries? My brother used to vape and always complained about his atomizers burning out. If I'm thinking correctly, cartomizers have individual atomizers in the cartridge? Not saying this is the kit I'm going with, but maybe something similar?

Here is a site I use and a good cheap kit. KGO kit1100mAh by SLB

I second this suggestion.

I started with a couple Vision Spinner batteries, a charger, and a couple of clearomizers and some juice. Was inexpensive and worked good. I've already upgraded to a Vamo after 2 weeks of vaping though... I kinda wished I'd started with one, but I didn't know if I would like it and wanted to get something cheap to start.

The other suggestion is to make sure you get some good juice. The first I tried was crap, so I almost stopped right then. Get a sample pack from Mt. Baker, Alice in Vapeland, or ECBlend and try a few different ones. I was a clove smoker, so I thought I would only want cloves, but after trying a few different juices, I found I liked a lot of other flavors much better than clove. Basically, even though you enjoy cigs now, you might find you prefer a non-tobacco flavor- so make sure you get a variety of juice that you think you might like.

Thank you very much. Do you know of any dependable online retailers that I could get this from? The kit that I am looking at as of right now is this, 510 Mega Kit with no Box.

I got my Spinner, a clearomizer and a charger at PBDragon. They currently have a cheap starter kit with an ego 1100 mAh battery, Vision Clearomizer and Charger for $21.99
eGo Vision Kit

Make sure to pick up an extra battery though, and don't forget the juice!

DEFINITELY considering purchasing this. Great price. May do this today! Thanks for the recommendation.

That IS a great price.

I picked up a kit last week which was basically 2 of these, and a bottle of juice, and it was quite a bit more than $50.

I actually just ordered it. Not too familiar with the site, so just hoping it's all legit haha. I just can't wait for it to get here so I can start vaping! I don't think I've ever been this excited over a pack of smokes haha.

I've ordered from them a couple times since they're always running sales. When I got my spinner, they were $19/ea. They've been very reliable and helpful when I've had questions. Found out about them on these very forums in fact. Probably wouldn't have if someone else hadn't pointed me their way when I was looking to purchase my first ecig.

I guess my last question would be, anyone recommend any certain online retailers for the juice??

Try sample packs from different places. ECBlends is pretty good and very inexpensive. Mt. Baker is better, and also inexpensive. VapeDudes has some nice flavors. Alice in Vapeland is more expensive, but exquisite flavors: wait on them though until your tastebuds recover.

Don't get discouraged. When I first started, after a couple days, I couldn't taste anything. That was a symptom of my not smoking. My tastebuds came back after a week though. Try sample packs and get a variety. You may find you like non-tobacco better than tobacco, you never know.
