Hey all! I have a few questions.

Last week I was visiting my mother. She quit smoking about 6 months ago and had been talking about this E cig she has been using since, and wanted me to give it a try. I went on these forums, and did some re search about what I should start with, so I bought myself a KR808 starter kit. Since then, I'm down to about 2 real cigs a day, down from 20+! I'm currently going through about 2 cartomizers a day, and have been buying them pre-filled .. which has been getting semi expensive (still cheaper than real cigs!). I also wanted something that produced larger amounts of vapor. So I did some more research, and ended up buying myself a E-Power 16450 kit. So onto my questions!

The kit comes with two batteries, battery housing, switch assembly, and 2 "massive" 4.5ml e-power dual coil cartomizers. I also bought a 50ml jug of eliquid.

So, I'm wondering .. what cartomizers can I use after these 2 need to be replaced? I'm thinking they have the 510 threading .. but I'm not sure. How many ml of liquid can be run through each of these? Are there better bang/buck cartos that will fit this model? and last, are they difficult to fill? I did not buy a bottle/needle .. but I can if I need to. I wish I would have, as now I'll have to wait on shipping.

I was looking at these "tank" cartos, and they seem easier to fill .. but i'm not sure if they will perform as good.

Thanks for any help! I'm extremely excited about receiving this tomorrow. I'm loving my KR808, so I'm sure this will rock my socks.

Anything 510 should fit.

If you like using cartomizers, a carto/tank would suit your needs. Or you can try some sort of clearomzier/tank. I'm sure the members will offer suggestions and where to purchase. After you have 5 posts, you can send me a PM if you still need help.

I like that your Mom got you vaping! Usually it's the reverse.

I just figured using a cart would minimize hassle .. but I'm also trying to save a little money as well. I'm glad to hear it's all 510, that makes things easier. I got worried for a minute that my selection would be slim!

And I know right?! Aha, she had been smoking for 31 years and my uncle a while back told her about his E-Cig and she ordered one and hasn't looked back. I've been smoking for 8 years, and getting down to 2 real cigs a day has been by far my closest attempt at quitting. I'm excited! Plus, this looks like a fun hobby.

My 14650 comes today! I'm hoping filling the carts wont be impossible without a syringe .. I'd really like to give it a try today!

To begin with, a $22 HH-357 is THE LAST THING I would suggest a new person try. The 357 is an advanced user atty. This is a far better choice for learning how to drip with.

I didn't even know that the E-Power came in a 16450, are you sure you didn't mean to say 14650?

I personally don't like anything dual coil, but that's just me. So I will leave that one alone. I will say that a 2ohm Boge or a 1.7ohm Smoktech carto are both a pretty good vape on an E-Power.
My poor ole E-Power was one of the first ones made, and it has sure seen better days. So it is now a back up to the back ups, and resting peacefully in the zombie box. I flat wore that thing out!

14650!! I must of been typing a little fast! Sorry! :(

I'm not sure exactly what I'd want. I'm looking for large amounts of vapor .. but I also do not like it to be really hot and scratchy. This KR808 I have now, when I slow, long (5 second) drags, it gets really hot and starts to taste funny, and makes my throat scratchy .. If I take shorter (3 second) drags, it tastes good, and isn't scratchy, but the vapor amount is all the small side. (I do create the vacuum with my cheeks, then inhale after). The faster I chain, the worse is gets. I'm not sure if the atty/carto type will have any effect on this. The ones the kit comes with are dual coil 1.5ohm. Link:

    http://www.litecigusa.net/E_POWER_4_5ml_1_5ohm_Dual_Coil_Cartomizer_p/epowerblkdualcoil.htm

Do you think the 14650 was a smart buy? I had plenty of money to spend .. but I read that the 14650 is a good entry level mod past the slim cig style mods. I was also looking at the eGo-C .. but this was half the price, and ran at 3.7v vs 3.4v. Don't even know what that means really. haha.

I use an E-Power 14650. I bought it in November of 2011 and I'm still using it this this morning. The only other APVs I own are two other E-Power 14650s that I purchased at the same time as back-up units. Those are still in the cupboard, unused.

My units are equipped with latest switch module: 5-click safety and LR capable.

I don't recommend using dual coil with the E-Power 14650 unless you have it equipped with 950 mAh IMR 14650s. My preferred setup is 1050 mAh ICR 14650s with 1.7 or 2.0 ohm single coil cartos. This produces all the vapor I could possibly want.

Well, good to know they last! :)

You use these? Smoktech 1.7ohm Single Coil Blank Cartomizers

Yes, that is one of the cartos I use most often, in fact I'm using one now. Most of the time I use the Smoktech 2.0 ohm LR XL in stainless steel: it's a just a tad cooler. I use cartos without a tank. The 1.7 ohm single coil must be topped off twice often as the 2.0 ohm. I usually buy both cartos here. I like the stainless steel finish to match the stainless steel E-Power 14650.

Here is my E-Power 14650 after one year of heavy use. It's fitted with the long XL sized carto. The stainless steel battery tube and cone has held up very well. The switch module is the center piece with chrome finish. It shows just a little wear of the plated finish near the power button. During the summer I run the E-Power without the cone: that keeps the carto cooler. During the winter I leave the cone on to conserve heat. We get a lot of 100+ degree days here.

I opted for the matte black finish. How big is this thing relative to the slim e cig style units?

Just a few more hours until mine should be here .. any tips on filling one of these:

    E-POWER 4.5ml 1.5ohm Dual Coil Cartomizer

    without a syringe?

Oh my. You'll have to drip if you don't have a syringe...and it's going to take about..what?...about 60 drops? Or thereabouts? Whew. So I guess the best tip for you is...PATIENCE!

Beware the dual coils. And 1.5 is awfully low resistance. I've not had the best luck with 'em that low. And dual coils are WAY too hot for my tastes. Plus they run down faster, and wear harder on the battery. JMO. But anyway...good luck! I've used the mega cartomizers lots before (single coil) but I do have a syringe. In fact...I have LOTS of syringes, and a few needle top bottles, too!

Edit: You can get 18 guage luer lock needles and syringes at your local pharmacy. Just tell them what you need it for. Most pharmacies are pretty cool about it.

E-Power 14650 battery tube is 17 mm in diameter. It's an APV with a fairly big battery in the 1000 mAh range so it's quite a bit bigger than a cigarette or cig-sized PV. E-Power 14650 is an ideal size for a pocket carried APV.

I haven't filled a carto as large as 4.5 ml. Prefer to drip fill my 1.8 ml XL cartos by holding them them more or less vertically. The carto is filled when liquid comes out the bottom end of the carto onto some kleenex or paper towel. Filling with a syringe also works well but I don't like the hassel of having a syringe around that must be cleaned for re-use.

The important thing to remember about any carto is they have to be keep at least partially filled at all times if not used with a carto tank. The fluid in the carto filler acts as a coolant. If they get too dry they will burn and will never taste good again.

I vape a little more than 2 ml per day. I usually change out my cartos after one week or after I've run about 20 ml through them. I have used a carto for twice as long many times but the flavor during that last week is not as good, depending on the juice.

I was wondering about that .. I just didn't want to go in and ask about needles haha. you know, that whole stereotype .. I'll go in later and ask after I leave work.

I was just reading up on PG/VG .. and the liquid I bought is 100% PG. I'm worried I may be looking for more of a VG based mix .. with the thicker vapor ect. Although, PG is easier to work with though, yes?

Yes..PG is thinner and easier to work with. It also delivers more flavor and stronger "throat hit". VG will pump up the vapor, but even a 80PG/20PG mix will do the job very nicely. VG will also impart a slight sweet taste...some people like it, others don't. I am not fond of VG..for the sweet thing and also because it tends to mess up my sinuses and leave a "coating" sensation in my throat. I DIY my own juice now and put 15% VG in, just for a little oomph to the vapor, but far prefer PG overall. PG does produce vapor...and lots of it...just fine.

Try the 100% PG. It's good stuff. VG will will produce more vapor but more flavorings must be used with VG. You can get blunt-tip syringes from a lot of the online vendors. Sharp tips are not necessary.
