First off, been a smoker for 15+ years . Tried vaping last year with the store bought disposables and didnt have much luck. Loved the vape though and knew as soon as I had enough money to get a real set up I would. So two weeks ago I purchased my first set up. From reading I believe I have one of the mid pieces.

What I am wondering is, do I have a cartomizer, or atomizer? I think its a carto but am not 100% sure. With the setup I have, what options do I have for upgrading? I know mine has a tank adapter to allow for the different thread types. But would like to know what all my options are as far as upgrading and DIY.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

This looks like an eGo type device... with a branding I don't recognize. It doesn't look like a twist from the pic, so let's say it's an eGo clone with a stardust (or stardust type) clear mixer on it. Not really an atomizer, nor a cartomizer. It likely runs at 3.7V, and the resistence if the head is probably somewhere in the 2.2-2.5 range, but that's strictly a guess. This is a great starter device that should last most of a day depending on how much you use it. As for what you can put on it
... almost anything really. It has eGo and 510 threading, which means any delivery device that says it's 510, or eGo, should fit no problem. I would try to stay at the 2ohm or below range for best performance. Enjoy!!

Welcome to ecf you will have a good time here ask away and if you need help please ask. I personally like kanger mt3 or t3 because they are bottom coil and less fussy but that's subjective. I'm a bottom coil fanatic. I'm just starting to use carto tanks. As for my mod I won't say a name but its a variable voltage mod. I like that I can dial in my volts to find the juices sweet spot. Needless to say your starting out way better than I did. Congrats and vape on.

The Leo has proprietary threading but you mentioned you have the Leo to 510 Adapter.
Leo to 510 Adaptor - Only $3.00
If you have the adapter then you are free to use any 510 threaded accessory on your Leo. Your Leo may also work as a Pass Through. Unscrew cap on the bottom. Here's a review by highly regarded Scott.

Bought it at a local shop here in town two weeks ago. Loving it so far. Been two weeks with out a cig. Get about 8 hrs heavy use on a single charge. It does indeed have passthrough so i can vape while charging. It was a starter kit and came with one battery, the two tanks/cartos and one 10 ml bottle of juice of my choice. It ran me right at 55 bucks. Already paid for its self in savings from buying cigs. The brand is from a company called red kiwi? What is a mixer? Am I currently at 2ohm or below? Thanks for all the helpful information.

An atomizer is simply the coil that gets hot and turns juice into vapor. By itself it holds no real amount of juice except for just a few drops, so it's usually in some sort of package. A cartomizer is an "atomizer in a cartridge" with some filler material housed in a metal tube. It holds more drops, but not a lot more before refilling it.

What you have on your device is a clearomizer. It doesn't have filler material like a cartomizer, rather it has the atomizer sitting in a clear tank with a wicking system to get the juice to the coil. Clearomizers are popular because they hold more juice than a cartomizer and are easy to fill. A really good system for someone just starting out.

When I first tried out E-Cigs a few years back I was using carto's and ended up going back to regular cigs. This time around I've been using clearomizers and I'm loving them and a lot less refilling.

I'm in the same boat. Just over a week using using E-cigs and 2 days smoke free.

Good Luck cnmsales. I hope the cleaormizers help you kick the smokes.
