Keep it up. Longtime dipper here.... probably a can every 2 days. Been vaping since last march and haven't bought a can of skoal since. Still occasionally use snus for the oral fixation..... but I honestly haven't felt better. Better dental checkups, no more mouth pain, no more stomach pain and queasyness... plus I'm saving a ton of $$.

Magicpad,
Thanks for the encouragement, and congrats on being Skoal free for... what... 10 months now? That is awesome! You're right about the pains going away... my gums used to get white sores when I was dipping but they are already healthy and pink after 12 days off chew :toast: ... but I haven't saved any money yet, since my e-cig rig cost about the same as 3 months worth of dipping. I will start "saving" money in March or April of 2014 :)

I also quit chewing because of vaping. It sounds like you got a great setup I love my Kayfuns!

Kenny,

Congrats on quitting the chew :toast:!
I tried quite a bit of gear (my son has a ton of friends who vape, so they hooked me up) before I decided to get my own... drippers, rebuildable tank atomizers (including several leaky ones, at least the ones I tried), cartos, etc... but no one had a kayfun for me to try. I read about the kayfun here on ECF and bought one on pure faith, hoping it would be a good atomizer (and wouldn't leak)... Right after it arrived, I set it up while watching a youtube video... and was vaping nicely in about an hour (took me several coil experiments to get the vape quality I wanted). No leaking, totally reliable and awesome vape quality (once I found the right resistance). The kayfun completely exceeded my expectations! Now I want another one hahaha!

Hey there 1911 and great job so far!

I am also new to vaping and had my last Copenhagen Straight 3 days ago. My question to you is: What did you chew and what e-liquid are you using?

My biggest difficulty has been finding the right juice. Finally found one that I find decent.

Eddydb,

Good job on making it 3 days! I chewed Copenhagen long cut, mostly wintergreen but any long cut would do. Before Cope long cut came out, I dipped Skoal straight long cut. Before that, I chewed leaf... Red Man and Levi Garrett. 30 years is a long time to have tobacco leaves in your mouth.

Best of luck in finding e-liquid that satisfies you... go to lots of vape shops if you have access to them and try lots of different things. Buy little bottles of the ones you think you like, but don't commit to large quantities until you vape it for a couple of days... there were some liquids that I thought I liked at the shop, then ended up hating on the second day of vaping. It would be a terrible waste to buy a $40+ bottle of e-liquid only to find out that you hate it.

I am currently using:
Hawk Sauce from Mt. Baker (primary ADV and my favorite so far)
Momma's Cookies from Adam Bomb
Peachy Ice from BJC (watch out, the menthol is strong with this one)
John Wayne from Uncle Junk's (WAYYYYY sweet but very complex... nice on occasion but not an ADV)

My Hawk Sauce is 20/80 PG/VG with three extra flavor shots (I like it so much I bought 236 ml of it). I think the rest are 50/50 PG/VG.

Welcome csantiago, you've come to a good place! I'm a new vaper and former dipper for 2 or 3 decades or so, and smoked for about 17 years or so to boot. Quit smoking about 16 years ago when the wife became pregnant, but doubled up on the dip to keep the nicotine monkeys beat down. So far I'm tobacco free since October 16th of 2013, so over two months without a dip. You can do it! Since I smoked, the vaping just felt "right" if that makes sense, but I did go through a few days where I could have eaten a can whole. I'm vaping 18mg now, and prefer tobacco flavors, and thought of stepping down myself, but I'm not quite ready I don't think. I still get the urge to dip every now and then when puff-puff-puffing isn't quite doing it...but so far I haven't had one. I still have my last can in my jeep, and when I really want a dip I get it, take the lid off, think how nasty of a habit it really was, how my gums would get sensitive, etc...and then put the lid back on and congratulate myself for riding out another wave. Then I puff-puff-puff some more, lol.

You'll get there man, you just have to take it one no-dip at a time. I might recommend starting with 24mg nicotine though, or at least get a bottle of that strength to keep on hand for the rough spots, and use 18mg or maybe 12 when things are going good or later in the evening so you don't get wired. Also, if you're like me, in a few days your sleep habits will get wierd...you'll be fine, then all of a sudden a wave of sleepiness will come over you and you just can't hold your eyes open. Other times when you're normally getting ready for bed, you'll be wide awake like you slept for hours or something. It probably took me 4 or 5 weeks for my sleep cycle and body rhythms to get back to normal, but that may just be my body adjusting and your milage may vary.

Anyway, I've rambled on long enough, it's after 1:00am here and I have to make myself go to bed so I can get up at 6:45 tomorrow. Ok, so maybe my sleep cycle hasn't quite gotten back on track, lol.

Congrats again though man, great support system here in this forum, and they don't mind you pestering them with "newb" questions either (not TOO much anyway, just remember, sometimes THEY start "nicking" too you know!) :p

Thanks Ricky! I'm staying with 18 mg nic for now, since it is what I have and there are no local B&M suppliers nearby (and I am reluctant buy buy 24 mg nic online if I am not sure I need it). So far it is 19 days off of tobacco and going well. I had a couple of cravings for Copenhagen but I chain-vaped my way through them. Feeling pretty good about vaping so far and really enjoying it. Playing with my vaping gear also helps keep me occupied... experimenting with coils and wicks is really pretty entertaining.

I'm also glad I chose to go the mech route with RTA/RDA. Reading these forums, I was expecting lots of trouble and difficulty in setting up, running and maintaining the gear. I have not experienced any of those problems that the veteran vapers warn about... my first coils were easy to build (and ran well) and I got the cotton wicking right on my second try. No shorts, hotspots, thermal runaways or any other mishaps. I am an electronics guy who uses ohm's law routinely so maybe it is just easy for me... but running a mech mod with an RTA/RDA is not difficult by any means.

Just ran across this thread, first off congratulations on a month tobacco free! That Cope straight is some hard stuff to put down. I was up to two tins a day some weeks, and it was hard to let go. Second, where in the US are you from? You got a fantastic setup but I can't believe it cost you as much as 3 months worth of dipping... You musta got some great deals on Cope because I was paying out as much as $100 a week! Still though congratulations and I hope you stick around and keep off the Cope
