Hey everyone,

so i hoped in sort of blindly to vaping, have a local store, local as in 40 miles away, so i don't get there often and it seems the juice prices are a bit high, 16.95 for a 30ml bottle. but the flavors are really good. probably the best i've tried from other friends who vape off and on.

they really pushed this new vaporizer on me but didn't really go into details of what it does, how to clean it, what all these accessories are for, etc etc., so Im wondering if you can help me out.

sorry if all this information has been posted, I don't have a lot of spare time, so I figured I would just ask.
guy said this was the newest thing and showed me his and it produced quite a bit of vapor so i just went ahead and bought it. he was saying some stuff about it, but acted like he was in a hurry and i didn't catch all of it.

anyway I purchased a Kangertech Subox Mini, so far i am pretty happy with it, although after about a week of use it seems to me that the flavor is losing quality. it comes with a usb charger, and 2 of these square metal things that im not quite sure what they are for. looks like the one in the white glass tank. and some cloth.

can anyone tell me what im supposed to do with this stuff, or how do i get the flavor to come back? like i said i really hoped in this blindly, and have some juices ordered online that are a bit cheaper than this store. so i don't plan on going back anytime soon just to ask a few questions.

the only thing i know for sure is, I have it set at 37 and use the max air flow setting.

Edit there's also a small screw driver, a little spring

My guess is the small square things are the replacement coils. Normally the subtank comes with a .5 ohm coil and a 1.2 or 1.5 ohm coil. It also comes with a rba deck that you can use if you wish to build your own coil (this one is more round--or cylinder--in shape). Keep in mind that there will be quite a difference in how each coil operates. The goal is to figure out which coil you like and then buy more of that one. You may find after 1 week that you need to change or clean the coil...that is why you are noticing a drop off of flavor.

Welcome to the world of vaping and finding us here. :)
The square things are the premade coils. There should be a .5ohm and a 1.2ohm one. The round one with a screw on the side is the rba.....rebuildable coil. (Got some more research to do, ohms law ect. Before building)
The flavor is muted most likely bc it's time to change the coil.
The tank......what holds the juice, can be taken completely apart to clean by soaking in alcohol or I just rinse mine under hot water, dry and re assemble. You can also soak the coil in alcohol then rinse and let dry to extend the life of the premade coil.
My biggest suggestion is to read thru here and let YouTube become your best friend. I learned a ton by watching Grimm green, ruby roo, and rip trippers. Wait and I'm sure others will hop on here to help, we're all family here :)

I have the same unit, subox mini starter set....Mine came with the 0.5 ohm coil already installed in the tank,I added a fresh charged sony vct4 and filled it with a 50/50 blend of unicorn milk and V.G. set it at 30 watts and it billows the fog!...All day long!....In fact,I've been running the same occ coil for at least seven battery charge cycles and the taste and clouds are still as strong as the first hit!....VC

I am going to be throwing a lot of information your way all at once, but don't sweat it. This is the internet, and you can take as much time to read and study it as you need.

The square metal things are the "coil heads" for the tank. If you take a look at the one that isn't in the tank, you can see that it has some wire on the inside with cotton stuffed through it. That wire is what is actually getting hot and producing the vapor. The cotton is what is wicking the juice to that wire. Since you bought the kit, you should have two of those metal parts that are square(a 0.5ohm one should be in the tank, and a 1.2 ohm one should be in the box), and a round one in the box. The square ones are pre-made coils that you just replace over time. The one marked 0.5 ohm is probably the one you are currently using in the tank. It is made for direct lung inhales, and to be used between 15w and 30w. The 1.2 ohm ones are made more for mouth to lung inhales, and should only be used between 12w and 25w. Lastly, there is the round one. It is what is called the "RBA" in the kit. RBA stands for ReBuildable Atomizer. It is for more advanced users. The RBA is not pre-made. If you want to use it, you need to make your own wire coils(there should already be a premade one installed in it, and should be another in the little tool supply bag that came with the tank), and then wick it with some cotton(this is the cloth that should be in a small bag that I assume you were referring to).

What you are describing about the flavor dropping off is not uncommon. It is typically a sign of the coil going bad. Since you are new, I would suggest you just replace the coil with a new one. If you are very happy with the one that was included in the tank, you can buy another at the shop or online. If you want to try the other resistance one that came with the kit, you can do that(I would recommend trying each to find out which one you prefer). To change it, simply unscrew the base of the tank like you would if you are going to fill it. Place the tank somewhere so it does not get knocked over and spill out any juice that is in it. With the base of the tank, you should be able to grip the little square piece in the center. Simply grab ahold of that, turn it counterclockwise, and it will unscrew and pop right out. Take another coil head, drop a drop or two of juice right down the hole in the top onto the coil, and then another drop or two onto the wicks on each side of the head, and then just screw it into the base. When it is screwed into the base, screw the base back on to the top of the tank, and wait 5 minutes or so for the wicks to be fully saturated, and set the wattage somewhere in the recommended range(I recommend you start low). When you are ready to take a puff on it for the first time, take two or three puffs without pressing the fire button on the battery. This will ensure the wicks are completely saturated and ready to go. After that, just use it as you normally would.

Since the coils only last a while, I would suggest you either go back to your "local" shop and get some more of them, or order them online. If you order online, they will probably be significantly cheaper, especially after you factor in the cost of gas for you to drive to the shop. If you are ordering online, you will want to order coils that are designed for the subtank in either the 0.5 ohm or 1.2 ohm resistance. They may also be referred to as Kanger subtank occ coils. Just make sure you don't order the nickel based coils. These are extremely low resistance, and will not work with your device.

For a first vape you did well. As someone mentioned before watch YouTube videos. Rip trippers is very useful and covers all aspects in his reviews. He did one of the kit you got recently. Other videos he did will show how re wick your coils when the cotton goes bad, as well as how to build on the rba. I have the same kit and learned everything I need to know from his videos. Highly recommend him.

Happy vaping!

Hi, and welcome to the board. You've heard the advice you need, so I won't chime in. I will say you've gotten an excellent kit for starters, much better than most people start with. The Subox folks around here-- one of which I am not-- will shortly have you straightened out and get you and your machine fogging the room. Well done. Welcome again, and you'll find all kinds of good info and friendly people around here.
