New to vaping! Liked it so far, til Nautilus Mini!

Hey guys! New to vaping! I've only been vaping about a month now, I started on a basic evod starter kit(I believe that's what it's called) and loved it. But wanted a little more. I got the SmokTeck ARO Winder 1500mAh vv battery, because a friend and fellow vapor told me to try the ego-twist, and that was the battery that was most similar to it in my store. About 5 days ago, I purchased the Nautilus mini to go along with this sick battery, since my basic starter kit clearomizers couldn't handle the higher voltages than 3.7 volts. I got the Mini and loved it. Even suggested it to my friends I loved it so much. Wouldn't go higher then 4.2 volts on that, even though the shop who sold it to me said it could handle about up 6 volts, and it was 1.8 ohms. Just today, my lighter liquid started turning a darker color really fast along with a slightly burnt taste, and it's been the same liquid I have been using. So I decided to vape until .5 ml and dump the rest and clean the tank. I cleaned it by washing over warm water, and drying everything off and continue to air dry. I assembled everything back up, and got an even worse burnt taste, especially on the exhale, yet my liquid returned to the normal color. So I dumped everything out, and changed out the coils(got an extra coil with it) and was shocked that I had an even more burnt rubbery taste on the exhale and slightly on the inhale.
What did I do wrong? Is it duds? Or my own stupidity? I can say I currently don't have the money to get anything replaced, but I'm going to the store tomorrow.
And any suggestions on what somewhat like me should move up to?
Thanks and sorry about the long post

As far as clearos go, the Nautilus Mini as about as good as it gets if you're going to be using that kind of battery IMO. Did you make sure that when you first put the new coils in to let it sit for 15 or so minutes and maybe give it a few dry puffs? If not, you might have burnt the wicking material by engaging the battery before it was fully saturated.

Well the thing is, the second coil was straight from the box hadn't been used. And I didn't always vape on 4.2 volts on it. I usually went down a whole volt and would work my way up slowly every .5 volts or so. I mean it lasted me 5 days I'm just wondering what's the deal? I was so pumped about getting the mini, because all the hype about it online and on YouTube, I'm just kind of disappointed right now ya know?

mistakes I have made: when cleaning your tank make sure you don't get the coil wet with water. sometimes a coil is just bad and the local store I used here for my first kit replaced a coil for free when I got one. When my liquid that's normally very light colored turns dark and nasty looking the coil has been bad every time. keep volts/watts on the lower end of what's recommended and the coil will last longer. if the liquid has too high of a vg concentration the stock coils can't handle it and you get a dry burn (nasty taste). you can always add pg to your juice. tic tacks work well for your taste--sort of resets your taste buds (for lack of a better description). i hope some of my discoveries help you!

IMHO i have noticed my Nauts, (i use several) Have to, for lack of a better term "season" for a tank before they feed perfectly. The coil is surrounded by a ceramic paper, with the absorbing material surrounding that. once they get "broken in", the coil is a beast for at least a week. The mini im on right now is good from 8 w up to its current setting of 11.5w @ 4.6v, reading 1.8Ohms on a IPV Mini. I can clean and reload a Naut in less than 5 minutes. One of the secrets is to keep the coil wet, i dont let them dry between changes. This would all be easier if i just made a video. The Nautilus is the best clearo out, again IMHO!
