Hi,
Just received a my first New Aspire nautilus Mini in the mail. Came with 2 BVC coils. Put the liquid in, waited a few minutes and had a strange burnt taste. So figured maybe it was a dud. I added the 2nd one that came in the box, and that same thing as above, still burnt taste.

I then read some threads on here, tried to draw a few times from the mini without the battery. Made sure everything was tight (and not too tight), Even tried to take a pin and open up one of the holes on the side. Lastly, also tried to drop a few drops onto the screen in the coil as I so some posters recommended.

Now it's not much of a burnt taste as before, but tastes strange, barely has any flavor. I'm using a 50/50 3mg, tastes fine when using my EVOD Glass tank, so can't be the liquid.

Any ideas? Really lost on this one.

Thanks!

You might have already burnt up the wick when you hit it dry. I always drip a couple drops into my new coils(through the screen not the center hole) then fill my tank and put it together. Then i put my finger over the adjustable air hole and hit it a couple times without pushing the power button. If i can do this and not see any air bubbles come from the holes then its good to go. If air comes out i cover the air hole again and suck on it 5 more times and repeat. Hope this makes sense.

Yeah the inside is what i meant sorry for the confusion. You can also put a drop on each of the outside holes. A long time ago i got ahold of some coils that were not marked "bvc" and they were horrible. Would not wick juice no matter what i done. I bought my mini when they first came out and used the procedure above anytime i replaced a coil. All the coils marked BVC have worked like a champ. Hopefully you get it figured out. Please post if you do

Hi, Ummjay and welcome to the forum!
Once you burn the cotton around the coils, it's burnt. Depending on HOW burnt, it MAY "come back" a bit and give you a bit of flavor, but it will still have a burnt undertone even so.

The procedure of dripping on the screen, filling the tank, waiting for about 5 minutes (you'd be surprised how long that is) and taking draws without firing all help the juice to thoroughly saturate the cotton. You don't have to do ALL of those. I for instance. don't drip on the screen, but I leave a new coil soak up juice for about 5 minutes and take non-firing hits and watch for the bubbles. When no more bubbles come, the coil and atty are ready to vape.

Hope that helps and Happy Vaping!

If you are still getting a bad taste out of it then you might want to go ahead and get another coil since they are fairly cheap. The bvc coils are different than most but i think that is why they work better than most (in my opinion). The ceramic wick stuff is packed around the coil pretty tight so it takes a lot longer to prime it than a regular old wick or cotton. I know this all might seem like a lot of work just to vape but they work really good once you get the initial process over with
