Hello new in the forums, been lurking for info on here for couple months now. Just recently got into the world of vaping after trying my buddys ego twist. Just ordered everything I need (I think) let me know if Im missing something

  • Vamo VV/VW mod (w/ Helix hot spring replacement)
  • Vivi Nova tank
  • Kanger T3 tank (w/ 510 -> Ego adapter)
  • 2x AW IMR 18650 and 2x AW IMR 18350 w/ Nitecore i2 charger

Anyway now Im looking at different sites to order my e-juice from. Now my question is lately Ive been slowly cutting down on the number of analog cigs I smoke to slowly make my transition into vaping. Now what nicotine strength should I start with so I can still have that real cig hit/flavor. Also any good sites you guys recommend that comes close to Marlboro (non-menthol) flavoring? Thanks

It'll probably differ between people, but I started on 18mg. As far as tasting like a cigarette, nothing will. The taste that comes from them is mostly the burning/carcinogens. I would experiment with some tobacco variety packs and try to find one you enjoy. Also, don't restrict yourself. Bluemistvaping.com has variety packs you can get where you choose your own flavors. Don't be afraid to try some of the more exotic things, like dessert flavors. Happy vaping!

If you have been cutting down on the cigs, then you may want to get a 18 mg (1.8%) and whatever the site has for the next lowest... some do 16 mg some do 12.
that is #mg per 1 mil which some sites do as a percentage and some do a a mg. confusing, but weather it says 1.8 or 18, it's still an 18 MG... I'm not the best for explaining it, but I started at 18 and am now down to 6. The nic will enhance the flavor of the juice and also increase the Throat Hit (feeling of the vapor going down the throat) so I don't know if I will be going much lower, but my original intention was to work my way to 0 nic.

That's a great setup to get going! I bought the exact same kit for my nephew for Christmas and he's loving it.

I smoked Marlboro Reds (2PAD/33years) and as far nic goes, I'm really good with 18mg/ml (1.8%). I tried to find something that tasted like Marlboros (never found it) but finally decided that vaping wasn't smoking so instead looked for flavors I liked (instead of what I used to get from smokes). Everyone's tastes are different so your best bet is to try some sample flavors from different juice vendors. For me, I've settled in with some all day juices.

Alien Visions: Boba's Bounty & Gorilla Juice
Ikenvape: RY4 Gold VG
Heather's Heavenly Vapes: Shadowfax
Backwoods Brew: Malty Toffee & Green Apple
Juicy Vapors: After Dinner D'Lite

Good luck on the quest!

From what I understand it will taste more like the smell when you open the pack and not like the cig when it is burning. So whatever pack when you break the tinfoil, if you think you would like the taste try it, also much of the board agrees buy small samples and the ones you like buy more of so there is less of an initial investment and more of you buying what you like.

Some flavors take time to mature so if you don't like it and put it away somewhere then come back it may taste way better then it did on day 1, like a chili as the spices mingle they change. It can also work the other way.

Trial and error buy small until you like something.

I get your point, and thanks! I originally wanted to get like 1-2 flavors from different flavor categories (i.e. 2 tobacco, 2 fruits, 2 exotic, etc) so I think I'll order a couple variety packs from different vendors. Thanks

Also, your screen name/avatar combo is awesome haha

Haha! :toast:

Hmm I only smoked Marlboro Lights so I might start at 12mg/16mg or so, didnt know the nic is what enhanced the throat hit/flavor thats good to know thanks for the info

With the Vamo you have, nicotine strength won't make as much of a difference because you can just turn up the wattage to find the flavor and throat hit you like best, so feel free to start a little lower. When I was first starting out, I bought a bottle of unflavored 3.6% (36mg/ml) so that if I found I needed that much, I could vape it straight or just add it to 0-nic flavors or low-nic e-liquids to find my "sweet spot"....but I think that bottle is still mostly full and sitting in a drawer somewhere...3 years later! ;) 1.6% - 1.8% (16 - 18 mg/ml) is generally a pretty good starting point since commercial cigarettes average about 1.63% nicotine, but again that depends a lot on how much power you're using: More power means more liquid is vaporized, so 1.2% at 10 Watts will produce a similar throat hit as 2.4% on a standard voltage / standard resistance e-cig running at 5W or so.

Bottom line on nicotine strength is finding the amount of "throat hit" that you find comfortable. After years of smoking combustible cigarettes, you probably have lost some sensitivity in your throat so many people start out on pretty high strengths but find themselves working their way down over time. It looks like you've got a great starting setup, but if I was going to recommend anything it would be to get a good "dripping" atomizer like the 306 or HH.357 since those allow you to switch to a new liquid without sacrificing flavor. The "tank" style atomizers you have are fantastic and produce flavor that's *almost* as good as a dedicated atomizer, but really work best when you just use a single flavor all day, and it might take you some time before you find your ideal "all day vape". With a dripping atty, just a couple of drops will be great for a few (about 4-10, depending on how much power you're running) puffs and when the flavor starts to fall off, just add a few more drops or switch to another flavor.

Good luck, and happy vaping! ;)
