Without planning it, I smoked my last cig on July 27, the day my E-go arrived in the mail. I had smoked for almost 20 years, 2 packs a day. Of course, I had heard about e-cigs, and had even seen a few people using the tiny ones that they sell at the mall kiosks. The thing is that everyone I knew who had any experience with e-cigs talked about them as a way to reduce anxienty when quitting: they would take only a few drags a day, when they really craved a cig. And I had no intention of quitting; I loved smoking, although I knew it was causing serious damage.

Then one day last July, quite by chance, I heard someone in a podcast talking about the Joyetech 510, and how they had replaced smoking with vaping. So I could still get the pleasure that I got from smoking all day without killing myself in the process? Now this I could get behind!

I went to the Joyetech website, found a supplier in my country, and decided to buy an e-cig. At the last moment, and without any kind of knowledge to back up my choice (I hadn't discovered this forum or the various online vaping communities), I opted for an E-go. It was mostly the battery: this supplier has the E-go C with the 1000 mah batteries and I thought that I needed something that lasted longer than the 510s. Obvioulsy, in my ignorance, I ended up spending waaaay too much for my kit. Also, like a fool, I thought that since the kit had 2 E-gos, this would be enough for me and my wife (who was more than willing to try a cig alternative as well).

Truth be told, I never thought I would quit smoking. Best case scenario, I thought maybe I would cut back the amount of cigs I smoked in a day. But after filling my E-go tank with Dekang Desert Ship and vaping for the first time, I was hooked. I started chain vaping on my E-go C and left an open pack of cigs that now sits in one of my desk drawers as a symbol of something, I guess.

I have not touched a cig since that day: even after going to parties and being surrounded by smokerrs, I haven't felt any temptation. I now feel vaping is so much better than smoking, it scratches my nicotine itch, smells good, and won't kill me.

But obviously, after a few weeks of vaping and educating myself (mostly on this forum) I realized that my setup was totally inadequate. First I got some proper juice (from Copper Creek) and my old Dekang was sent to the emergency roster, in case I ever run out of the good stuff. Then, I had to deal with my fussy, finicky, unreliable Ego-C: I think I spent more time fiddling with it to fix leaking issues, burnt taste, stiff draw, etc., that I did vaping. And since my wife and I only had 1 battery each, I would trey to chain vape for a few hours and then nervously wait for the battery to be recharged. I needed a big battery PV, with a big tank that would last me all day.

On Friday, I received my new shiny yellow Silver Bullet, yellow Altsmoke DCT tanks, a bunch of Smoketch 1.5 ohm single coil replacement cartos, AW 18650 3100 mah batteries, and yellow ming tips. My wife still is not ready to go so big, so she got a couple Kanger T2s to use with our E-go batteries, which are now only hers.

I have to say, I'm still going through a learning curve with cartos and tanks, but this feels like vaping heaven. And I would not have been able to get there without this forum and all its members.

So, thank you! I know this post is now almost novel-sized, so I will stop.

Happy Vaping!

Congratulations! Your story could be mine except I'm only three days in and haven't needed to chain vape. I haven't had a cigarette since I started vaping and am keeping an open pack right next to me at all times. I did it as a way to give myself permission to have a cigarette if I seriously craved one. Now the open pack is a reminder that I just don't need a cigarette and prefer vaping.

People like you who share there journey away from smoking cigarettes help to keep me from dwelling on the "too good to be true" feelings that I'm still having. Thank you.
