I bought an ecig from a friend and had it for a week or so before I decided that I wanted to design my own. So I sold my ecig and bought some parts online. I bought a 3.5ml tank, a 900 something battery and a drip tip. When i got it in the mail and assembled it, I noticed no wicks. i dont know why I assumed they'd come with it but whatever.

So my question is, what do I need to buy in order to complete my ecig? if you have any recommendations of where to get whatever I need to get.

Also, the friend I sold my ecig to asked me why the wicks were turning brown. Someone want to explain this to me? is it bad?

Sorry im a total newbie at this stuff haha. Thank you!!

Well what type of tank you have will determine what type of wick you need to buy. Im guessing the Battery is an "ego" style battery, the kind you screw the atomizer/tank onto with a button towards the top?

Wicks will discolor as they are used and the coil will build up residue on it. this is normal. Depending on how you vape/how much you vape will determine how often you need to replace the coil. the only other thing you havent mentioned is e-liquid. You will have a long road ahead of you to find your favorite flavors but its a great journey.

Is the tank that you bought a "carto tank"? If so, you're supposed to put a cartomizer inside of it. If you can provide the names of what you bought, it would help. Did you buy a charger for your battery?

As for wicks turning brown, they do that sometimes, sometimes it's just discoloration from the liquid, sometimes it's gunky build up from the coils flowing back down the wicks. If it's not effecting the flavor, it's not a problem.

Can you take a picture of the tank for us? I'm thinking it's a carto tank as well.

On the top and bottom of the tank is there a hole in the middle that would fit a tube like piece. If so you need to purchase cartomizers (the correct sized ones) and prime the carto with juice and fill the tank. The cartomizer would be punched (either by you with a small tool or purchased that way). These tiny holes will filter into the carto from tank and vape until you need to fill it again.

Julia,

I am guessing that the tank you have is a "Bottom Coil Clearomizer" (BCC). These do have wicks, but they're very very small. If you look at the base of the atomizer (when it's opened) you might see 2 tiny white "fluffs" just barely sticking out. These are the wicks.

The top-coil clearos have very long, stringy wicks which hang down into the liquid, but with the BCC's almost all the wick is hidden inside the coil assembly.
