Hey all

Like just about everyone here I guess, I am trying to cut down my daily intake of cigarettes (normally around the 15 mark if I am not drinking alcohol). I have been interested in e-cigarettes for a while but I didn't realize that such a big community and so many products existed!

I have been looking through these forums and either the 910 or 510 seem to be the best to start of with?

I found the following:

901 starter kit for £28.99

  • One Black Atomizer
  • Two Special batteries with Motorola Microprocessors in Black with Blue LED
  • One Battery Charger with UK plug adapter
  • Five Cartridges of Mixed Nicotine levels
  • Two Cartridge Holders
501 starter kit for £35.99

  • 2 x Black lithium batteries Blue LED (2 Manual)
  • 2 x Black Atomizers
  • 1 x Battery Charging unit.
  • 1 x UK Charging lead.
  • 10 x Atomised Cartridges (5 x 16mg, 2 x 11mg, 2 x 8mg, 1 x zero)
Both from Totally Wicked e-liquid.

Would you recommended either of these? Or do you think I should opt for something else?

Also what about pre-filled cartridges or e-liquid? Is there any major advantages of one over the other?

Any help would be majorly appreciated

Get some extra juice!

I really like my 510 for the most part (havne't used anything else though). The battery life isn't great, but with 2 batteries on hand, I've been ok so far. I just make sure to keep one charged at all times.

The inconsistent vapor is really my only complaint, and that seems to be an issue across the board, hence the number of cart mods and filling methods.

I have been at this for 6 months now. I like the 901 OK, but prefer the 510. But that's me. However, the 901 you list is it auto or manual batteries? Believe me when I suggest manual batteries over auto. The 510 looks to be more cash, but does come with 2 atomizers... Never be without a spare atomizer!!! So if you got the 901, I would suggest getting a spare atomizer anyways.
I also suggest getting fluide to refill those cartridges with.
AND for consistency, great hits and flavor, see the highping cart mod. Easy and simple.

Until they come out with better cartridges, this is currently the easiest to use IMO.

Welcome to ECF :)

I think the 901 I listed was auto. It didn't say otherwise and the image didn't seem to have one of those little manual 'button' things. The 501 is manual however.

Is manual the way to go?

In terms of e-liquid how much does it take to fill up a cart? And, on average, how much would be used per day of a 30ml bottle? Obviously I know it is subjective but a rough idea would be great.

Thanks for all your comments so far!

I have a 2-piece set-up - KR808D-1, which you can buy pre-filled cartomisers for, or blanks to fill with your own choice of juice. Cartos are reasonably priced, & can be refilled a few times before using another with a fresh cart & atty. No hassles with cleaning, & burnt attys like the 3-piece. It's also easier to swap flavours, & they hold more juice than a standard 3-piece cart set-up, so less refills.

It is a very subjective thing though. I LOVE my KR808, but others LOVE the model they have. Best to weigh up the pros & cons of each, & go with the one that suits you best.

Good luck! :)

Actually a lot of 901's will run the KR808 as long as you can get a draw through it because it is the same threading, if not adapters are available. A 510 you can run 510 cartomizers OR get an adapter for the KR808's. And I also like cartomizers for convenience, but vapor production and flavor are not up to my 510 atomizer IMO.

As far as juice, I consider myself to be a heavy vaper and use about 3ml a day. When I vape like I smoked (1-2 5 minute smoke breaks an hour), I only use about 1ml a day. So YMMV. The 510 and 901 cartridges both hold about 10-12 drops of e-liquid.

As far as the auto battery: It requires you to suck on it to activate it. Any juice gets down there and it starts clogging the auto batteries. Also, on the autos I have tried, I honestly get tired of the draw. I find a manual battery is better because I hit the switch before I take a draw to warm-up the atomizer, then I can draw as hard or light as I wish to, and as long unless it has an auto shutdown protection). But realize that everyone has their preferences...

Good luck and have fun!

Autos are convenient only because you don't have to pres the button. The drawback is that you have no control over heating the atomizer other than drawing on it. With a manual you can depress the button to heat up the atty for a second before you inhale. The main drawback for autos for me was that many have a vibration sensitive switch that will activate near wind or fan noise.

The 901 will give you more flavor and milder vapor, but I prefer the heavier vapor and throat hit of the 510.

I average roughly 2ml per day, but measuring that is an inexact science and your mileage may vary.

I'd go with the 510 kit. But, whatever you buy, make sure it's a MANUAL!! You MUST have some atomizers and liquid. No atomizer = no vaping..no liquid = no vaping. IF you decide that you enjoy vaping, you can always upgrade to an EGo and continue to use your atomizers and carts from your original 510 kit! :)

The Ego's battery life, depending on your vaping habits, last anywhere from 6-10 hours!

Good luck and welcome to ECF!! :)

And I have read more "bad" reviews about TW than "good". Just an observation. Surely you have more options for a supplier than TW

Well considering the OP is from the UK and TW UK has a very good reputation, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from them. I personally have had nothing but good experiences with TW USA, but to each their own.
