I have the same issue as the OP with RBA's. He's getting a very wet and HOT vape from his nano. When I say HOT, I mean the temperature of the vapor droplets hitting the throat and lungs. Even at the lowest wattage setting.

With my Kayfun lite V2's I have this problem. The vape from a 0.5, 1.0, 2.1, 2.5, 2.8 coil all produces a way to hot vape for me. I choke everytime.

The problem is that the coil is exposed directly to your throat, and nothing to cool it down. It doesn't matter how little or how much airflow you give it, the coil is still exposed to the throat and generates big hot vapor droplets.

What I did was to make a special piece (out of 26g wire) that allows a "flavor wick" to be placed over the top part of the coil. Exactly like the Kanger protank single disposable coils. By covering the top coil with a flavor wick, the hot coil is not exposed to your throat and a cooler hit.

I could not deal with the HOT wet vape, so I had to switch back to a ProTank 2 with single coil. The single coil has 2 top flavor wicks that cover the coil which gives a cool, velvet smooth vape. Just what I like.

OP, you may just have to ditch the RBA and go with a replaceable coil tank that has a top flavor wick. I had to, and have $300 in RBA's just sitting.

Just my 2 cents. Had to have a sub ohm setup guys at work blown big clouds made me wont one even more so dumped out about $300 just to find out i'm not a sub ohm vaporer (is that a word)?
Too hot -too much vapor (had atlantis and kanger sub ohm) back to the tanks.

I think I may be in the same category. I've been working with the Atlantis and an Aspire Sub-Ohm battery, as well as the iStick 30W, and I'm finding the vapor to be too hot and stinging, no matter what power setting I use, and it tends to trigger off my Asthma. I tried diluting the nicotine, but didn't feel satisfied nicotine-wise despite liking the big clouds. At any rate, I'm back on the Nautilus Mini right now, and I am happy to vaping without roasting my throat.

Yes I did the same thing. I tryed to cut
back the nic level but found myself only blowing big clouds, but not getting satisfied. I think this is probably where we have to decide who we are as a vapor and what we need and not want we want. But I don't know about you. It's a hard thing for me to do.
I like new and shiney and cool stuff. LOL..

Thanks for all the repies guys.

Yeah ive been thinking about it and have come to the conclution that its heat related. I think that even the one ohm coil is too hot and is whats causing my burning. If fact after reading this post i had memories of when i used to light my ciggerette off the toaster or stove when i could not find a lighter.. LOL the first pull always burned from the heat.. its the very same sensation im getting with this vape. Tons of vape but the burn is too much for me.. :( Which is too bad cause i really like every thing else about this little guy from the looks, size and taste....

I don't have a nano, but would assume the RBA head from the Mini would work just fine in there and allow for a dual coil build in tight quarters, if you want to tackle rebuilding the OCC head you could pull off a twisted dual coil.

I ran the 1.2 in my mini at 10-20 watts without issues on an istick 20w.
I currently run a 0.5 ohm single coil in my RBA at 25-35w with no issues on a mech mod.
Airflow will make or break your vape and needs to be explored in combination with applied voltage and vape style (mouth to lung) (direct to lung)
My juice is 10mg/mL and the only time I get excess harsh hits is after eating certain foods, this has been true for any atty I've used though and should not be attributed to the subtank or coils.

All of this is subjective and cannot apply to your preference.

Hey mate,

As stated above sucking on a nano isn't far from a dripper, and while many crave the warm flavorful vape it's a lot for some. There are a few things you can do to alleviate it:

1. Make sure your air control is wide open, and lower the watts.

2. Up your VG ratio. You said you're using 65/35, and that should be reversed for a tank like this. Consider picking up some USP vegetable glycerin at the store and diluting, as the VG will soften the hit in a big way. This is probably the #1 thing you'll needt to do.

3. Get a longer drip-tip, which will allow the vapor to cool more before it gets to your mouth and lungs.

4. If you're stuck, look at "slip-streaming" where your mouth isn't sealed around the drip tip so you're taking in even more air.

*gives the horns*

I had the same problem when I first got my subtank and I'm an experienced vapor, I switched from the stock coils to the rba problem solved. I don't know if you are having the issue where the stock coils are popping, I was and I realized I was getting a pop of juice in every hit this was a big part of the reason I was getting throat burn, with the rba this doesn't happen and I don't get the throat burn anymore. I'm using 12mg 50/50 gwar juice running a 0.9 ohm coil at 12 watts but sometimes bump it up to 15-20 watts and I still have no issues. Be brave watch a few vids and try the rba you'll be glad you did. Also be careful with chain vaping that will also lead to dry hits and hits that burn. I have also thought about rewicking the stock coils to see if they helps haven't got around to it yet when I do I'll update this and let everyone know.

I'm on board with the OP. Heard so many people gushing over the whole sub-ohm thing, but I found out I hated it. Way too intense and hot of a vape for me.
I much prefer a cooler, more flavorful vaping experience like I get from my Kayfun and Russian 91% at 1.2 to 1.8 ohms. Don't mind sacrificing the clouds at all.
