Hello everyone,

After deciding to call it quits with cigarettes, as my habit progressed to two packs a day. I am making the switch to vaping. I bought a starter e-cig kit from a local tobacco store, but am looking to upgrade to something better quality-wise.

I am looking for any suggestions of starter kits to buy, lets just assume that there is no price range; and anything would work.
Thank you in advance,
-Mike

I started with an Ego a couple years ago, but I thought it was pretty lame.
Went on to a 6 volt mod (discontinued now...) and bought a Vapage Vmod 2.0.
It was great and I beat the hell out of it...numerous drops, a couple dunks in the lake, camping/hunting trips, etc.
Bought another one, and I was really disappointed in the quality. Barely lasted a month and I need to send it back.
I wish I would have gotten an REO mod, instead. They get great reviews here.
I don't like the long flashlight mods. I prefer something that fits in a shirt pocket.

Basically you are going to get 20 different opinions from 20 different people. Do your research and see what's in your budget and what would be comfortable for you. I personally have the Halo Triton starter kit almost the same as a ego but thread size is different. I also have a mvp2 box mod not really a favorite and I have a mechanical mod awesome hits and taste but you have to learn how to recoil and wick them. Again its all up to preference and budget. Good luck with your choice.

I was looking at those two and came across the Kanger EVOD, which got very high ratings. Any thoughts on this?

Cant go wrong with the Kanger Evod kit.
$40 online gets you good quality tanks, backup atomizers and backup batt. Add juice and you are good to go with very little hassle.

3 months in and yes I have many tanks and a couple of mods now but still use that starter kit every day when portability and reliability matter (out and about town and such).
Its a great start and can be a finish depending on how much you can resist shiny new toys or a vaping hobby!

I don't think anyone here that began with a ego starter kit still uses one on a regular basis. They have move on to bigger and better, me included. I now have protanks, aspires, IBT carto tanks, 2 MVPs, 2 iTaste V3 and saving for a provari. If you want to jump ahead and that is something that interests you, then please research and perform due diligence. But if you don't know variable watt from variable volt, how to prime and setup a carto, trouble shoot problems with bottom coil clearos and desire to rebuild coils, then please read and ask questions.
Do I regret getting the evod? Emphatically no! Would I do it again, knowing what I know now? Yes. It was simple, satisfied the nic craving and something I could understand.

I agree with Psyc63, you're going to ge a lot of different recommendations from everyone so I won't go with a specific mod or brand BUT I highly recommnend a variable volt/watt device with something that has adjustable airflow. This will allow you to completely customize and fine tune your vaping experience to your liking. I started in Nov of last year with a simple 1100 mah battery and a mini pro tank II and swore thats all i needed at the time. Well...a billion tanks and mods later ....here I am lol. Good luck on your journey and Vape on!

Innokin MVP2

Another vote for the MVP2 here.

My general advice to folks asking about getting started is: Skip the ego style batteries. They are cheap to get started but you will quickly want something better. So spend that money instead on a good starter pv.

And the MVP2 is just that. You will not need to worry over buying the proper batteries and charger. Simply charge it off your android phone cable. It will go a day or three on a charge, depending on your personal habits. Fits in a pocket, front, back, jeans, shirt, etc. Has a greater range of wattage for you to explore and is suitable for any clearo style tank or single coil rebuildable. Even comes with a charge cable and decent clearo.

It's $45 at vp-wholesale for everything you need minus the juice. That is a few dollars more than the dual ego twist starter kit I bought. But the quality is exponentially better.

I started with the Kanger Evod kit as well and couldn't have been happier. I think we all look back and say that we would have skipped the start up set ups but, while I also outgrew it quickly, I think it was the perfect place to start. Not intimidating at all, very simple to use, reliable, great experience. I would suggest to anyone new to vaping even knowing they will most likely move on from there.

The people you hear saying they tried vaping and quit often say they got a really cheap starter kit that leaked, broke, they couldn't figure out, etc. so they dropped it because of the experience. I thinking learning to walk before you run is usually a good thing so, imo, high quality starter kits will always have their place.
