I think you have read that e-cig advertising website that mentions PG400 or best mix, something like that. LOL. I have been vaping for quite awhile and no one talks about PG400 or best mix. It's a scam advertisement for their juice. I'm not sure if it even exists or what that is except maybe some fancy way of describing their base they use. Most (or every single vaper I know personally, which is alot), use a combination of PG/VG, or 100% VG. It's all personal preference. I tend to use 50/50. PG produces more of a throat hit and flavor, while VG produces more vapor. Some prefer 80/20 PG/VG if they use tanks because the juice is thinner and feeds better. It all depends and you can try out different variations until you find what you prefer.

I am new also, to both the forum and the experience.
I have tried 100% PG, and 100% VG (same flavor, same company, same mixer). I enjoy the VG better, and I find the PG to have too much throat hit.

I think its a completely personal choice though, I really disliked cigarettes with a harsh throat hit too.

PG is a man-made compound, typically described as more flavor, more throat hit, less vapor.
VG is made from plants, typically described as more vapor, less flavor, less throat hit.

Many people believe that VG is safer, but I have never seen any proof either way.

I have no experience with PG400, but I have seen it being sold in eliquid.

+1 on what Miami Mom says, there is a list of ECF approved vendors of eliquid on here most all use a mix and some 100% vg for those with PG allergy. here is a link to that list good luck, Heathers Heavenly vapes, vapoligy, alice in vape land, alien visions, Back woods Brew, and many more are all a little different and all great.

Here is the link:

Forum Suppliers

All of these guys are approved by the ECF if you want to see what they have to do to be approved there is a thread somewhere on here I couldn't find it too quickly though. hope this helps. Also make sure you're getting good quality juice I prefer USA made, others like eruo made too, most everyone I have talk to warn to stay away from chinnese ejuice. ;)

Really funny coincidence but when I first started searching about ecigs and vaping, I came across that same ad about PG400 and wondered about it. If you try googling PG400, you will see that site is the ONLY site that mentions any such existence of a PG400. LOL! I just tried googling it again and can't find anything vaping related having to do with PG400. I've mixed juices 50/50, 80/20, 70/30. I haven't mixed 100% VG yet because it's just so darn thick. But I just recently ordered some alcohol based organic extracts and 100% VG nic to mix with and try out. I have fallen in love with the alcohol based 100% VG juices from Clouds of Vapor, and they are thin and have a great throat hit because of the alcohol base in the organic extracts. I will see how it goes :)

From Wikipedia:

Liquid
Liquid for producing vapor in electronic cigarettes, known as e-juice or e-liquid, is a solution of propylene glycol (PG) and/or vegetable glycerin (VG) and/or polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG400) mixed with concentrated flavors, and optionally, a variable percent of a liquid nicotine concentrate.

and:

PEG 400 (polyethylene glycol 400) is a low-molecular-weight grade of polyethylene glycol. It is a clear, colorless, viscous liquid. Due in part to its low toxicity, PEG 400 is widely used in a variety of pharmaceutical formulations. More recently, it has been used to make "E-Liquid" for electronic cigarettes (personal vaporizers).

Chemical properties

PEG 400 is strongly hydrophilic. The partition coefficient of PEG 400 between hexane and water is 0.000015 (log), indicating that when PEG 400 is mixed with water and hexane, there are only 15 parts of PEG 400 in the hexane layer per 1 million parts of PEG 400 in the water layer.[1]
PEG 400 is soluble in water, acetone, alcohols, benzene, glycerin, glycols, and aromatic hydrocarbons, and is slightly soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons.

I've never knowingly used a juice with PEG400. It seems like all the reputable vendors (that I know of) use (or at least claim to use) PG and/or VG as their base.
