I just got my first 5v (a WetBox) and my fav juice tastes just nasty through it. I'm assuming this is the burning that sometimes happens at HV. My question is since I really like this juice, what causes some juices to burn? Is it the base, or more like the flavorings?

The company I get it from (E-Cig[.com]) offers 3 different bases and 2 blends, so if thats the case, I can switch bases easily while still being able to use my favorite flavor. I'm currently using "Best Mix 2" which is a blend of VG and PG400. I've noticed that it's a bit thinner than all the other juices I've tried so I assumed it'd burn.

First of all, dumb question but it must be asked - are you using standard or low resistance atomizers on your Wetbox? If you're using LR then that would explain the burning. You should only use LR atties at 3.7v. Now, I'm going to assume you're using a standard resistance atomizer on your PV. Most juices aren't going to burn at 5v. It's when you hit around the 6v range that things start to get dicey. With that said, there is some extra level of care involved with 5v vaping and the first is you have to make sure your atty stays wet at all times. If you take one toot that tastes a little off, add more juice. At higher voltages it's better to flood an atty than let one burn dry.

Another thing to consider is that 5v will bring out flavors the way 3.7v can't with most flavors. A flavor that may be good at 3.7v may taste fantastic at 5v of 6v. And a flavor that may be just okay at 3.7v may have all of its flaws exposed when vaped at a higher voltage.

Some flavors work better at higher voltage and some not. I don't think it has much to do with the PG/VG ratio. I've got flavors that I like at lower voltages but getting up around 5v or over kills the flavor and start to get that burned taste, it's great for vapor and th though if that's your thing. The best flavor for me on most juices tend to be in the 4.3v range or less. You might want to try and HV atty as it won't heat up as much and definitely as said above don't use a LR at 5v.

Thanks for the tips, I figured this juice'd suck at HV. It's by far the cheapest juice I buy (50ml ~$9), unfortunately it's my fav though. I guess I'll either switch to HR atty's (even if just for this juice) or switch juices.

I did have an order that came in today with 4ml bottles of e-cig's newport juice in PG, VG, PG400, PG/VG and VG/PG400 so I'm testing those out. So far PG/VG isn't perfect but it doesn't quite burn so bad.

... are you using standard or low resistance atomizers on your Wetbox? ...

Standard atty's

All I've used on my mods at 5V is standard atty's. Some of my juices don't have the same taste, but none of them have tasted burnt. I usually vape 50/50 or 60PG/40VG juices. This is just a guess, but it could also be the quality of your juice. The funny thing about some of my juice is that the taste isn't as strong at 5V as it is at 6V, and some just taste better at 3.7V.

When I started using my 5v passthrough, I realized that I had to relearn how to draw on it. I didn't need to hit the button quite as long as I do on my eGo. Bigger clouds, shorter puff. Most of my juice handles well on the passthrough, but it does make it taste different, as previously mentioned. The best thing I can say is that you might want to explore other juice suppliers and flavors. I have some flavors that I use at 3.2v, which my eGo puts out, different ones that my 5v makes taste good, and now I just got a Leo, which is putting out 3.6v, and I am finding that I am having to learn some new flavors. (LOL, yes, that extra .4v does make a difference.) There are a couple suppliers that offer high voltage juice, but I can't offer any input on those yet.
