its good if you have a couple extra cartomizers, just in case your cartomizers burnt
i switch flavors to often to "use up" my cartos with one flavor and hate to keep cartos with different juices hanging around so if the carto is still working good i keep them.
i have a jar filled with deionized water and i just drop them in it once i have like 10 of them in there i boil them for about 5 minutes and there almost good as new with no flavor left overs unless i had something really thick in there and if thats the case i just drop them back in the jar so they can get another boil later.

@OP Dirty? By dirty do you mean you got dirt in there, is it flooded? Try to be a little more specific.. If you flooded your carto you can fix it by blowing into the carto itself pushing all the juice out from the bottom but be sure you have a napkin in hand it will get messy! If it tastes burt then you didn't prime it properly or you burnt the carto.. If any of this helped at all lemme know.
I pretty much use cartos exclusively as does my wife. I refill them 10-20 times with the same flavor before cleaning. Since I have 150+ cartos on hand, I use the following cleaning method. I clean 50 or so at a time every 1-2 months.
1. Remove plastic end cap.
2. Soak in everclear or vodka overnight.
3. Rinse with very hot water.
4. Boil for 5 minutes-rinse and repeat until oderless.
5. Bake on cookie sheet at 175-200 degrees for an hour-turn off oven and let cool.
Since I have so many, I usually don't have to use them for another week or two, so they probably air dry some, but you could use them right away.

I've been using cartomizers in my tanks for several months. The thought of trying to clean the cartos never appealed to me. They aren't that expensive to just buy more.
I mean, they cost $2.00 each and will last you 1-3 weeks each. I spent $5-6 on cigarettes a day, so the cost comparison is obvious.

50! wow. why would you need so many? or use that many to the point that it needs cleaning?
