For a dripper stick to the .5 ohm depending on what battery your using if its 20 amp or higher you will be perfectly fine on that. I use the purple efest 18650 35 amp but it really is 20 amps continuous and 35 amp pulse and im not sure of the time they rated that pulse for and i run my mutation x rda at around .35 ohm with 24 gauge kanthal a-1 and for them getting hot its ok as long as its from the inside out and are doing to as close to the exact same on each coil

I've only been vaping 3 weeks. I just built a dripper. I am wondering what ohm rate is good. I get a .5 with my 24 gage Kanthal. But ended up braiding my own mix but it checks in at 1.2. I made a test set of wires and the coils turned cherry red quickly. Curious if this will work or if it's too high.

This depends on your atomizer, your battery, and what you're going for. I parardoxically have a Magma build at .2 (dual) and a Mutation X V2 at 1.9 (single) that are both giving me something I love this morning.

Follow the link in my signature to "Bad's Awesome Blog"... read through the posts there and you'll start getting a good idea of what you need to know for sub-ohm vaping...
For now, stick to coils that are no lower than 0.5 ohms... don't try to get all fancy with twisted/braided wire coils... just get good and proficient with making standard micro/macro coils and enjoy your vape. But above all, be safe and do your homework!
