Tooter was very happy in Terrapin Station. After a time though he became restless and thought it was time to catch that train again. After some tearful goodbyes, he hopped that train.

Tooter ended up in San Francisco. He had a grand time in the City and had heard there was a cool music vibe going on in the Haight. He stopped in this coffee shop and met two cool chicks, Grace and Janice. They found out Tooter was in a band and the three of them broke out their guitars and jammed to the delight of the crowd.

A man sitting in the corner named Pigpen came over to Tooter afterward and said Tooter played with such soul. He told Tooter he need come over to his house to meet Jerry and the guys.

After he meet the guys, Jerry said "Man, you gotta join our Band"

Tooter was happy and night looking out over Golden Gate Park, He thought 'Wow.... Sometimes the songs that we hear are just songs of our own'.

Tooter really felt at home touring with the Dead. He received much loved playing for the home DH's at Winterland and the Greek. There was something special playing for the NY Heads at Filmore East.

But Tooter was completely overwhelmed when they got to Red Rocks. The natural rock formations, the acoustics and the DH's made it his most memorable venue.

They're a band beyond description
Like Jehovah's favorite choir.
People joinin' hand in hand
While the music plays the band.
Lord, they're setting us on fire.

Keep on dancin' through to daylight.
Greet the morning air with song.
No one's noticed, but the band's all packed and gone.
Was it ever here at all?

After the last show at Red Rocks, Jerry asked Tooter if he liked playing in the sand. Tooter's eyes lit up and Jerry just gave him a big 'ol grin :)
