ok so my initial starter kit I received Monday and have not smoked since. However I'm having some problems I hope people could help me with. I ordered some e juice with my kit 36mg. I started getting a itchy throat when i vape. similar sensation I use to get when i first tried nicorette. I think my ejuice may be too strong. before I order more I would like to know anyone out there who was close to a pack a day smoker like myself what strength is best to avoid the throat burn/itch. I general smoked about 14-20 cigs a day.

Thanks:oops:

First of all, congrats for your healthier choice! Welcome in!
I used to smoke about 10-13 cigs a day.
I'm actually vaping Do More Eh from vapables.com at 24mg/ml (great flavour!).
Maybe you could try adding some PG or VG to it just to dilute the nic level a bit.
Of course it's just an idea, i'm still new to ecig (2 weeks).

Vaping is quite different than smoking to your body, and many people seem to experience a bit of a sore throat when they first start. Vaping also seems to dry a lot of folks out, and if you're smoking less or not smoking at all, your body is also busy attempting to repair the damage done from analogs. I would suggest you make a conscious effort to intake more fluids, especially water.

All of that being said, I would tend to think that your nic level is probably a bit high, but everyone is different in that respect. Most of the time I usually use 16 to 18mg nic, and I was a little more than a pack a day smoker for 25+ years. Occasionally I need to jump to 24mg to satisfy me, and sometimes I can drop down to 11 or even 8mg. I keep a variety of nic levels around so I can adjust as needed. I think the 36mg would be way too much for me, but it might be just right for you, only you can say for sure.

My personal experience: I use up to 3ml of e-liquid a day. I buy a 30ml bottle of 24mg and I use a little 3ml bottle to cut it in half with VG. On the days when I NEED more nicotine, I just use the uncut 24mg stuff. Those days are getting fewer and fewer. :)

When I started I really needed to drink more water. Gatoraid or something like that helps too. After a month or so I didn't have a problem at all. I would say that most of the side effects have more to do with kicking the other 4,000 chemicals. However, some of it is getting used to vapor vs smoke.

it's weird too because this morning I had the best vap session since I started full flavor and enjoyed every minute than by evening which has been the case most days so far my throat starts getting irritated. so I will for sure try a smaller nic dose. also should i try a diff ecig I have vap4life currently so I would not mind a diff type of ecig any suggestions?

sorry total noob here but what is meant by vg pg how do i add ?
PG: Propylene Glycol
VG: Vegetable Glycerine
They're bases for e-liquid.
Most of the juice on the market are PG based which means they're mainly made with PG and flavour.
I like to add about 10% of VG to my e-liquid. Doesn't change the taste (barely noticable) and gives me more vapor.
I think PG and nic are the 2 things that give throat hit (can anyone confirm?).
It's pretty cheap, you can get some at happyvaper.com (fast shipping, great prices and amazing service).
It might help to reduce nic level and throat hit. But you could also try to vape a lower nic level e-liquid.

24mg gives me a pretty good throat hit.
Right now i'm vaping vanilla at 18mg and throat hit is really good, not too big, just enough.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker and I started with 18mg which I found was to low for me. I went to 25mg and felt better. Never tried 36mg. Maybe too high for one pack a day smoker.

I had a sore throat for at least 2 weeks when I started to vape. It will go away as your body adjusts to vaping.

Take others advice about drinking water. I missed that one and I think that is why it lasted so long for me.

Welcome and good luck:)

I use NOW brand pure VG (vegetable glycerin). I went to Amazon.com and did a search just to get some ideas on prices and found a link there with a great price. If your liquid is 36mg and you mix it half and half with the VG, you'll get 18mg liquid. Hope that helped.
that's true, but then you'll dilute the flavor by half too. maybe a VG doubler is the way to go.:) IMO
