I have read lots of posts about the volume of vapor, throat hit, etc. from the KR808D-1, but I got one a couple of days ago and am not having those results. The draw on mine is like sucking air through a straw, and the vapor and throat hit is nearly nonexistent. I can get a little more vapor if I try to cover the air slots in the cartomizer with my fingers, but this is awkward and still doesn't help a lot.
The batteries (autos) have two air holes and the cartomizers have four slots. I think there is just too much air flow.
Am I doing something wrong? I have tried drawing slower, faster, harder, easier. Does anyone have any tips?

When I first started with this model, I had the same thing. Some will claim that all auto batteries are the same no matter who you buy them from, but I disagree. I purchased a 2nd auto battery from a different vendor, and it definitely was different with a lot less airflow. I've since switched to manual batteries exclusively.

Try putting some tape over one of the holes. I did that, and it worked for me. The other thing I tried was take one of the rubber caps from a cartomizer, cut off the top so it will slide down to where the battery and carto meet. You'd think that would cut off the air flow completely, but it doesn't. You'll probably get a very stiff draw, but that's better than all air -- at least I liked it better.

You could also email or call the vendor where you bought it, and just tell them you're not happy with the excess airflow. Maybe they'll send you another one. It could just be defective.

Your mom said not to say...
I have another tip for you, get yourself a 5pk of GreenCig carts to use with that KR808D-1 battery, they are interchangeable between the models and the GC carts are a lot better than the KR carts in my opinion. I would also tell you to try out some Flue Cured Tobacco juice from LiquidExpress.com for the absolute best tobacco flavor out there in a juice. I am not affiliated with them I am an amazed customer that tried it on a recommendation of a fellow vapor and fell in love with the stuff, it's like I am smoking a fine quality cigarette and that's no stretch or hype.

Here is another tip for you, sometimes the cartridge execution is not perfect to match with the battery.
It worked for me when I just change the cart.
also, you will start to change your way of "smoking"... don't suck hard and, as you already found out cover the area between bat and cart with your fingers, and rotate the e-cig until you get the best "steam".

That tip with the cut protection cap helps a lot, but you still need some flow to go thru the holes.

I started with the 901, and it did get me off the analogs. But I love the KR best -- so easy to just pop on a cartomizer.

Some people really like the auto batteries, but I like the manuals best. They just seem a lot more consistent. I get tons of vapor, great flavor, and a good throat hit. And every draw is the same until the battery starts getting low. And now that they've come out with the xlong batteries and such, it's almost like having a battery mod. And at least one vendor has now come out with a regular-sized manual that has a 10-sec cutoff compared to the normal 5-second ones. So the model is being improved all the time.
