Hi eveyone,

I have been reading all over the forum on which model to get and have settled on a DSE901 and bought a couple bottles of eliquid and all was good in my little world. As I kept reading I've started to become really scared at the prospects of having pure nicotine liquid made in China in my home. So I have a couple of questions.

I know that smoking now is doing harm but the threat of instant death tends to scare me a little more. How real are the chances of spilling some liquid on yourself and killing yourself? Thoughts of a bottle breaching and getting all or me or my spouse or spilling on cut on my hand start entering my mind and make a little uneasy

The other question is my fears of these chemicals being mixed in some bathtub in China... Are there any way I can protect myself that I'm not inhaling some chemical that someone substituted because they ran out or the real ingredent was too expensive and my future children have birth defects? Are the sponsered sites listed on this forum order from reliable sources?

Don't want to sound too paranoid but I just want to know what I'm exposing my spouse to before I open the package when it arrives.

Sikki, well it's understandable to have some fears just starting out. And it is wise to be careful with the liquid, but, for one thing, your liquid is not going to be "pure nicotine". It will actually be something less than 4% nicotine (with some variation from less than that up depending on the strength you have ordered).

And, again, I'm not telling you to disregard all caution, but I constantly get the stuff all over my hands, with no affects whatsoever. Now, I was a very heavy smoker, and people's tolerance for nicotine will differ, but absent drinking it or deliberately pouring it all over yourself, you really needn't be quite so concerned.

There are those here who are extremely careful, maybe to the point of wearing gloves even, there are those who wash their hands carefully if any of the liquid drips on them, and then there are also others like me who have found it's really not a problem at all. All I do is wipe my hand on whatever is handy if I have a minor spill, and keep doing whatever I was doing.

The chemicals we use are unregulated everywhere so quality is not assured. I try to stick with brands I think might be more worth trusting like Janty. Totally Wicked and Ruyan have made public their tests so are probably safer than untested brands.

Ingredients could be tainted but compare the risk with the known hazards of smoking before discounting what is probably a less harmful option.

This is what I do too. It has also been said on this board that we didn't get a list of ingredients of what was in the analogs before smoking them and we are picking the liquid apart. With all of the cancer causing agents in analogs, this seems to be safer. JMHO. I see your point and agree that caution should be taken to some degree. This is a kind of, hope for the best situation.
I am pretty new here myself, but I think that there are a couple of places that have put their liquid though some testing. one of them being Totally Wicked. Someone please correct me if I am wrong on that. Good Luck!

Ditto the above. Slight spillages really haven't proven to be fatal in my case.

Nic juice can be an irritant, though and may cause redness and a slight burning sentation to sensitive areas of skin. THis happens to me so I need to be careful and mop up any seepages when topping up my 901s BEFORE vaping. Hasn't killed me, but if any juce makes contact with the skin around my mouth, the effect is pretty much instant.

Like any product, and I stress any product, unless you are the only one involved from raw materials on up to product completion, you have no guarantees of anything. Look at all the produce recalls last year. The only way you could get hold of a guaranteed safe to eat (tomato, pepper, green onion) was to grow it yourself. Look at peanut butter. And this isn't even the 1st time it's happened. You take a risk with anything you consume. It's not just China. You really don't want to know how many consumable products in whole or part come from outside the US.

As to the spilling issue. Little on my hand, wipe off and wash when I'm done with whatever I'm doing. Dump a bottle in my lap, well I'm going to change and take a shower. Would do that after a big spill with a lot of things anyways. It's not like get a couple drops on your hand and call 911.

Agree that it hasn't been a big deal getting a little on myself here or there. I just wipe it off. If it's enough that my fingers feel greasy I go wash them.

About the bottles though... with juice that comes in the glass bottles with large openings, I do think there is merit in avoiding a full bottle spill. I keep small plastic drip bottles such as 4ml size or empty Sweet Breath bottles and transfer liquid into those for regular use. I don't sit and drip or top carts using any fully open-type bottles.
