I was totally excited to have a new vape shop open up today in lisle illinois, Foghouse vapor. I hobble on over there and find they have a small selection of juice.. And on top of that the owner told me my ego was fake, after I purchased it from an authorized joyetech retailer. I purchased it from the only authorized retailer in illinois, which is on joyetech's website. Very upset with the service. Especially on their grand opening. They obviously didn't know what they were talking about. They had no idea about mtbakervapor, what a provari was.. And plenty of other clueless give always. C'mon!!! Everything was way overpriced as well IMO. UGH. My expectations were broken. So upset. What a waste of a trip.

Damn, that's somewhat close to me but if it sucks, I'll skip it. Thanks for the heads up.

They carried about possibly 25 juices max? It was called foghouse vapors at yackley and Ogden. A few tanks, many different batteries. And sampling of juices too. It's up to you if you wanna try the shop, doesn't hurt to try. What I don't like might be something you do like in a shop. I just lost respect from the owner who said my products were fakes.

Try rockys smoke shop in westmont illinois for juice. They have a decent selection with sampling available. They carry pink spot and high caliber. They're my go to. They don't carry a lot of hardware but they're honest knowledgeable people there. John is, at least.

What and how did he bring up/say that your batteries were fakes? Can you give us a somewhat paraphrased version of the conversation that lead to him saying your batteries were "fakes"? And "fakes" these days doesn't really mean much anymore. Joyetech shot themselves in the foot, "genuine Joyetech" lost its clout, and an eGo battery is an eGo battery. Some are better than others, yes (looking at Vision Spinners), but unless you bought from the bargain bin at the dude from the flea market, your battery isn't "fake". Nearly everything from China is a fake of a fake of a fake of a fake. I'm just curious as to what made him or prompted him to say that in the first place.

EDIT: Him calling a customer's battery "fake" in hindsight seems incredibly rude and unbecoming of a store-owner.

I agree that is a sales tactic that loses my respect. Why do they feel they need to put down the quality of another vendor to boost their own?

A friend and I were out a few weeks ago and this dude comes up and says he's opening a new vape shop in the area. I was very intrested. I am always happy to see vaping spreading and growing in popularity. The more people doing it, the less likely a ban or too much regulation will be possible in the future.

So this guy snatches my pv out of my hand (simple ego batt with an Evod) and reads the vendors label printed on the side (Spring Vapor). He starts telling me how horrible this product is! Oh!! Their juices are just NASTY! They add CHEMICALS to their juice!! It's WORSE than smoking! And the batteries don't last more than a WEEK!!

What I found most amusing about this guy was that when I asked him what the name of the shop was, he couldn't tell me. He changed the subject and started flirting with my friend.

Then he lit up a cigarette.

He grabbed my battery and looked at the bottom, which has cignot (cignot.com) logo and he said, "wait I'm gonna burst your bubble here" and went to the case and grabbed an EVOD battery and showed kangers symbol on the bottom of the battery. He said, "where did you get this?" I answered, "cignot down the street". And he snickered and said "see this is why batteries are blowing up in kids faces. They're getting fake batteries". I stood back and gave him the fact that Cignot is the only authorized retailer in Illinois for joyetech products. It's on their website.

In my mind I was thinking, your products are prolly fake themselves. Cuz I was so angry. They were comparing joyetech to kanger which is like apples and oranges, yet both fruit. They had evod tanks in colors I've never seen before either online or in stores. Leading me to believe their tanks were fake too. Their drip tips were priced up to $15 dollars. Too much IMO.

I just was so taken back that someone who is trying to build clientele would bash their customer's equipment on GRAND OPENING DAY. On his business card his name said "owner/vape ninja". So mad that he didn't know his facts about his own products. They sold egos!

If only you could have mentioned Evod batteries were recently recalled.

What he did was uncalled for and completely derogatory. Sounds snobbish.

P.S. Batteries aren't blowing up in kids faces. I'm sure the 18 +/- crowd who are getting their hands onto ecigs to experiment might get a battery hot, but if they were "blowing up in their faces" vaping as we know it would be done and over with within days.

Is he worth your patronage? If not, live and let live, brush that dirt off your shoulder, and move happily along. He isn't worth your money. No owner of a shop who even subtly does what he did is worth his weight in salt, has never been to business school, and is most likely a charlatan.

Vape ninja? Really? I love me some ninjas, I'm a nerd to the core, but I would never put "ninja" of any sort on any kind of business card.

Were all evod batteries recalled? Sheesh. That's terrible for him.

Does kanger even sell Evod tanks in light blue or chocolate brown? Cuz that's what they had.

If it doesnt say Kangertech or have a K on it probably a clone. Plenty of EVOD clearomizer clones and I even have a few. They use the Kanger coils and perform well but I knew they were clones going in.

This is the kind of stuff that irritates me about B&M's sometimes. I have quite a couple of good ones nearby now that know their stuff & are in the business because ecigs helped them & they now want to help others but this is the prime example of why its soooooo important to do your homework before going into some of these places!! Good for you for handling it the way you did! You should see the idiot at one of mall kiosks I recently ran into. He's never smoked a cig a day in his life. Just to see if he knew absolutely anything I asked what kind of clearomizers he sold & he looked clueless. The guy doesn't even vape! Smh!!!

Prices are out of control but I do buy some juice from time to time to help support them. I'd hate for the good ones to disappear before people actually get a chance to learn about vaping here.

Wow, he sees the Cignot logo and doesn't know they're a Joyetech distributor when they're nearby? That tells you his are most likely fakes.
(BTW, the "only authorized" on Joyetech's website is distributor, not retailer. Retailers can sell genuines that they buy from any distributor.)

I'm glad my new local isn't like that. They wanted me to pay $10 to come to a battery safety and RBA class. They didn't pressure when I was like that's all reruns for me but I did like the $10 for a RBA included with the class (and he clarified it was a clone).
And instead of being 300% over FastTech prices his are under 200% over. Plus his drip tips are $2.

I get the idea that my guy got into the business because he quit smoking with ecigs and saw he could make money. I get the feeling your guy just saw the money, there's a lot of that going around.

I'm glad I saw this now as I was going to stop over there later this afternoon... not any more.

I am lucky that I have 5 shops close to me that are all good in one way or another... I'm in Aurora, IL and we have:

Most Dope - Aurora
High Tech Vapors - Aurora
Elixrz - South Elgin
QuickNic - Sandwich
Black Forest - Batavia.

They all have strengths and weaknesses but what they all have are friendly, knowledgeable people.

Prices? Well, as we all know, shopping online vs a B&M is going to be far cheaper... but I don't mind buying some things from all of them and I do, as I would like in some small way to help support them.

Just having the ability to sample flavors right there offsets the money I would have wasted in buying juices sight unseen...
