Hey everyone. Fairly new to vaping here, I smoked my last cigarette on November 5th of this year and started with 12 mg nicotine and an Evod 2 with an itaste vv V3.0 battery. Recently I thought it'd be cool to get a new tank so I got an Aerotank V2 that I love! My original plan was to cut down my nicotine to 0 as I started vaping to quit smoking, so I am at 8 mg's right now, but it's been a little rough so I think I'm gonna go back up to 10 or 12. I'm vaping about 30 ml a week right now which I'm told is pretty normal. Look forward to chatting with you all.

Congratulations buddy, quitting is not easy to do so take your time. I'm in the same boat you are. I wouldn't make any big changes to your vape style until you're 100% comfortable. I made some rash decisions after a week without a cigarette and I went right back to smoking. A wise person on this forum once said, "switching to vaping is about the cigarettes you don't have, not the ones you do". I tell myself this every time I start to freak out. Looks like you are on a great path, keep it up and congratulations again.

Hello StrahmNoMore, Welcome to ECF. Everyone is different but I think most people here will agree that you shouldn't rush to cut the nicotine to quickly. First you have to replace the smoking with the vaping if that is your goal. Then once smoking is a thing of the past you can cut down on nic if you still feel the need, but you might find out that your body will give you signs that it's time to cut down or not. For now it's a good idea to keep a stronger nic handy for the rough times. Congratulations on the progress you have achieved so far.

It is all about the cigs you don't smoke. Don't beat yourself up if you feel you have to have one, you might find out they taste horrible to you now and that will make it harder to even want to smoke another one in the future.

Congratulations and welcome aboard. I agree with Whitewolf - no need to start dropping the nic level right away. Enjoy the new experience, sample some flavors outside your comfort zone, and you'll know when (or if) you're ready to move down from 12mg.

Oh, and read the forums. They can seem a little overwhelming at times but there's a wealth of information and shared experiences at your fingertips.

I was a very heavy smoker...for 40 years. I started at 24mg. At about 2-3 months my body told me to drop (anxiety, sleeplessness, woozy) I slowly dropped for about 18-24 months until I was down to 6mg. If I had cravings I increased the nic...anxiety, wooziness...I decreased it.

No hurry, you'll get there. Good luck.

to ecf StrahmNoMore. So glad you are here and a big congrats on the 35 days. That is awesome. Good decision on the amount of nic also. You have plenty of time to cut down later. I am not real concerned with nicotine. I just increased mine again.

I always recommend people keep a higher nic juice around for those moments that you really need it. I call mine my "reserve nerve" juice. It works for me. Look forward to reading more about you Have fun and continued success.

Hello StrahmNoMore and welcome to the ECF family. Well done on giving up the stinky sticks. Don't be in too much of a rush to lower your nicotine levels. Just listen to your body it will tell you when the time is right. I intend to lower eventually but certainly not until after the holidays, things are stressful enough just now.

Happy vaping. :)

Thanks for all the replies and support everyone. Sorry it took a bit of time for me to respond. Yes, these forums are a little overwhelming! This seems to be THE online vaping community though. I think Google even says so. Yeah, I am not stressing on the nic levels. I am MOST of the time okay with 8 mg's right now actually, but there are times my mental state becomes a little "frazzled" you might say. I think the suggestion to keep something stronger on hand is a great idea. Unfortunately all I have right now is some 26 mg cherry iced menthol a guy gave me. LOL I should probably get a small bottle of some 12 mg methinks. One thing that does get me a bit about these is the maintenance. I'm not complaining, but sometimes I freak out if my coils or juice get low. We don't have any all night vape stations around here, but I guess I can deal with that. I have had some tech issues which I made a seperate post about. Thank you again for your kind responses I look forward to learning from you all.

Congrats and welcome . If you feel you need to move back up in nicotine then move up a little until you're satisfied. As long as you stay off the nasty analogs you'll be ok. Whatever works for you may not work for the next guy. I've been cigarette free since the day I started to vape March 3,2014. 9 months and I'm a proud to be involved with all these folks here. We all look out for one another. I hope to hear from you and if you ever need something hit me up maybe I can help you with whatever. Take are and Happy Holidays,

Thank you. Everyone has been really helpful so far. So, this is going to sound dumb but how can you really tell when a coil is bad? I know the burnt taste, but sometimes I get that if I am hitting the vape too fast and if I leave it for a few seconds it tastes normal again. Does that mean the coil is going bad or I am just chain vaping?

Glad things are going well on your vape journey. Seems like you are experiencing some dry hits. To produce flavor and vapor, the wick (the cotton material surrounding the coil) needs to be properly saturated with juice. If you vape too frequently like repeated one toke after an another, the wick can't keep up. It needs some time to saturate itself with juice again. If you're constantly dry hitting, you can ruin the coil because once the wick becomes dry, if you fire the mod, it will burn giving you a bad burnt taste. Once its burnt, it's burnt and ruined. There are other factors that are involved, such as the PG/VG ratio of the juice. More PG means the juice is thinner and can get to your wick quicker. If your juice is high in VG, it is thicker and the wick has a hard time keeping up even on the most expensive attys and builds. Some cheaper clearomizer coils (aerotank dual coils for example) don't play well with high VG juice at all and will continue giving you problems if you take tokes in rapid succession.
