Just thought I'd introduce myself. I tried vaping crappy drugstore cigalikes a couple of years ago, and threw them out as useless. I'm 50 years old, and have been smoking since my teens. I've quit several times over the years (when pregnant, etc), but it was always a struggle, even with patches, Chantix, etc. Yes, I could white-knuckle it through, and quit, but it was sheer misery. I smoked 2 or more packs a day - I was a HEAVY chain smoker, and working on my laptop from home didn't help, as it made that easy to do. My husband was a much lighter smoker, mostly just on breaks at the hospital for stress relief (he's a doc), and a couple in the evening.

My husband happened to notice a month or so ago that there was a vaping store near us - Thanks For vaping. So we went to check it out, sampled lots of flavors, and got ourselves fitted out with eGo twists. As a matter of fact, we dragged my 53 year old sister up there and got her one as well. My last cigarette was one week ago today. My sister has also quit analogs, as has my husband as of 3 days ago.

I am freaking amazed because this was not difficult. At all. It was easy. I don't even want a cigarette. I'm having loads of fun with all my juices, and keep ordering more! It's like a miracle. I'm not white-knuckling it one bit. All three of us are happily vaping away.

Welcome to ECF. I lived in San Antonio from 92' to 2006. I miss my fav Mexican food places and Bud Jones, Jail house cafe now with a new location and new name believe it is not Lu Lu's as it is run buy the wife now since the husband is in prison. Miss those huge Cinnamon buns. Oh and Caparellie's Italian. Since leaving I lost weight LOL. OH must not forget Taco Taco I believe the name was.
Glad to see they have Vape shops now. My Nephew is usually there for the Fiesta he is in the Military in Hazardous Material handling. As in Nuk, Bio and chemical hazards. They look for terrorist stuff or respond to other stuff. I have not been back since 2006. Miss it.
Vaping worked for me. It will be a year in August for me. I have had no desire to go back to tobacco. I'm in the midst of cutting my Nic level at some point I hope to be off it except for maybe a really stressed day.
Glad to have you aboard. Lost of help on here. Do not hesitate to ask questions as on here THERE ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS except for the ones you don't ask. LOL

Here are a few things and links you may find useful.

Amazing huh? I'm 51, started about 16, tried everything except Chantix (which scares me from what I've read), could get easily to 2 packs a day (sometimes less, sometimes more) and nobody--especially not me--believed I'd ever quit.

Then came vaping.

Still trying to get my head around the idea that I don't smoke anymore. It's... it's almost a little eerie. :)

Welcome to ECF! Happy vaping!

Congratulations MartiP, I'm nine days in since my last analog, so I'm pretty new too. This place is great, lots of support and great information. I hope you like it as much as me. I tried Chantix and had moderate success, until I lost my meds in Costa Rica. Smokes there are $1.25, and that was bad news for me, lol. Two years later I tried this and found it far more effective and I haven't had any nightmares!
