Hi,

I am looking to transition from smoking to vaping and I have been looking around. I want a long battery life so looking at box mods but I want a kit rather than needing to purchase different items but I want the battery to be good enough to last so I just need to replace the additional devices from time to time.

I have looked at;

Kanger SUBOX Mini Kit
Eleaf iStick with Aspire nautilus Mini Kit
The One Box Mini + Subtank Nano Kit

Would you recommend any of these? Are there are other suggestions? I had an evod vape pen recently which just leaked straight away and the battery was shocking.

Finally, with these kits if you suggest any do I need to purchase coils, etc etc in addition?

Thanks

I'll let someone else chime in on the One Box, as I have never heard of that device.

Eleaf iStick + Nautilus mini: I was not aware these came together as a kit (they're made by different manufacturers, after all) but they are an oft-recommended combo. I went in a different direction with my upgrade (VaporShark and a Kayfun Lite) but I could very easily have ended up with iStick + Nautilus instead, if I weren't set on something with rebuildable instead of disposable coils.

Kanger SUBOX kit: this will have more power available to you than the iStick (presuming you're talking about the 30-watt iStick -- there were some "issues" with the 50-watt and I don't know if they have been worked out or if the company just moved on to other things like 100 watts and temperature control, but the 30-watt is the one I see people recommending), and the Subtank Mini it comes with is I believe more versatile than the Nautilus (sub-ohm, plus-ohm, plus it comes with the rebuildable section). The only thing I think the Nautilus might have going for it is if you prefer a really tight, cigarette-style draw, even on its tightest setting the Subtank can be a little airy, whereas the Nautilus, even wide-open, might be a little tight. If you prefer something more "in the middle" I'm sure either one would be fine but on the extreme ends, the Subtank opens up wider and the Nautilus closes down tighter. If I were in the market for a starter kit today, still knowing what I know now, I think I would look long and hard at the SUBOX kit. Plus, it comes in that sexy Stormtrooper-esque white-with-black-trim color scheme *drools*. I'm not usually one to sticker-up my stuff, but that thing is just begging for an Imperial Crest.

Of the three you mention, I would pick the Kanger kit. In fairness, I've never heard of the One Box, whatever it might be. There are, of course, a wide variety of other choices out there, but I recommend the Kanger to people all the time and haven't had anybody punch me in the nose yet. If you settle on the iStick, get the 40 watt TC model. Be aware the batteries are the weak point in any mod, and if you buy one with a fixed battery, when the battery goes, the whole thing is toast. That's why the Kanger is a good choice; it's removable battery. You will certainly need to purchase coils as you go along, they are wear parts and have to be periodically replaced. Another option is learning to build them which is much cheaper in the long run. In addition, if I were buying the Kanger, I'd recommend a minimum of two batteries and a stand alone charger.

Ok thanks I'll probably go for the kanger. This costs around 40 pounds. If there is any others not mentioned please let me know.
Personally, I'd push the boat out and get the eVic VTC. You can then use Kanger/Innokin tanks with or without temp control.

This looks interesting too.

In that power range, the Cadillac model is the SX Mini ML. If you're not in a hurry, hang around a week, get yourself verified as a member, and buy a used M class on the classified ads here. There were several last time I looked. Other mods in the 40-75 watt range I'd recommend are the Sigelei 75, the Snow Wolf 75, the Sigelei Mini Book, the Cloupor Mini Plus, the Smok Treebox and the Evic VT or VTC.
