Hi guys, I'm new to vaping. Got myself an itaste v3 and a kanger evod, been vaping away quite happily for a week or so. I want to get ahead of the game as far as replacement parts etc. From what I can tell at a minimum I'm gonna need some new wicks, how do I know when to replace them and also where is best to order them in the UK? What else am I gonna need and any other tips on products or websites would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The evod takes replaceable coil heads. Can get them at most venders. You just unscrew them from the base of the tank base, and screw in a new one, fill tank, let juice saturate the wick, then vape, easy peasy. You can rebuild them if so inclined, but they were designed for replacing easily. Can get them here in the states for about $6 a five pack. Can't help you out for the UK, when you get your posts up to 5, wander over to the UK section of the forum and you can post there and get lots of help.

Firstmost - Hi and Welcome :toast:

Every 2 ish tank fillings wash out the entire evod with warm/hot water. If you notice decreased vapor production wash and dry burn ( How to Clean & Dry Burn Kanger EVOD & MT3's - YouTube ) Once dry burning no longer restores function screw in a new one.

I also am not certain of the best UK resource for coils - UK forum will be able to help the most on that :)

Hi and welcome to ECF!

I second CreepyLady's advice, this will really extend the life of the coils. As for how you can tell, there will be a significant decrease in vapor production/flavor when the coils need to be cleaned/replaced. It should be pretty obvious when they get to that point. If you start getting a burnt taste, it is also likely to be a good time to replace the coils.

As for what else you will need ... juice :) Seriously though, you got a very good kit to start with, the one thing you might consider is a spare battery and a couple extra tanks. Regarding spare coils, I'm sorry, but like most on this side of the big pond, I don't know where to tell you to find them, other than the internet. Order early so that if they get held up in shipping you will still be okay!

Good Luck!

Another clue that the coil is getting gunked is that you'll find yourself turning up the power (watts or volts, depending on your mode) to get a decent vape. Then follow the info CreepyLady posted.

Yes, a second (third... fourth...) battery is important. While the VV3 can be used in "passthru", that's only useful if you're someplace that has a port or mains for an adapter. And get a second charging cable for it. Any USB2 to USB MICRO will work.

And get a second (third.... :) ) topper. If you like the Evod you can stick with it. The ARO pyrex looks good on a VV3, holds more, and is impervious to any tank cracking juice. (ARO and T3S heads will work in the Evod, but Evod heads won't work in them...)

As mentioned, lots of juice.

What you want to avoid is having any part of the vaping system fail and leave you without being able to vape.

hello i would recommend looking on youtube on how to rebuild the heads for starters as the ones you buy are crap compared to a rebuilt one look for the rip trippers vid and make some micro or even nano coils for them with cotton wicks i use the cotton wool john sons make 100% cotton boil it up first an dry it out you will be amazed at the results clouds of vapour and very satisfying

I don't recommend noob's rebuild the coils. Way too time consuming and you'll end up wasting a lot of liquid.
Because of the nature/position of these coils they have to be made and placed perfectly in the coil holder. If it ends up to high/low you'll get leaks/gurgling. if you make the coil to wide/narrow you get the same. But I do recommend swapping the installed wick (I use cheese cloth). Once the actual metal coil is severed it's time to change the coil head which can be bought for about a dollar a piece.

I would say wash and dry burn the head every time you are changing flavors. Don't even try it. It's going to taste burnt otherwise while the new juice struggles to replace the old juice in the wick. Research tank crackers for the plastic evod tank. Switch to glass and you won't have that problem. The protank mini II can be had for about ten bucks from 101Vape and you won't have to worry about tank crackers. After you wash out the inside of the evod, use a hair drier or something to dry out the inside of it otherwise condensation will still be present in that nook by the drip tip.

Barry, you really should have more than one topper, whatever style you like. It does make it easy to swap flavors, and you have a backup, just in case.

I typically have several flavors loaded and ready to go, as changing off is fun and tasty. Keeps from getting burned out on one, no matter how good it might be.

Yes, a good clean can help. But going from a strong to a mild flavor, may not be as successful, as the strong flavor will stay in the wick and alter the light one. Of course, you could swap heads at the same time, and put the used ones in small plastic bags, labeled with the flavor...

And yes, your posts here count :)

Sweet, just bought myself 5 pack of evods, 5 pack of spare coils and an ego-t as a spare battery. Once they and my various juices arrive I'll be sorted. Just been on the tobacco flavour so far which as an ex roll up smoker suits me but I'm keen to try other flavours. This forum is really handy for me, I don't know anyone else that's into vaping though I'm pretty sure I may be making a few converts amongst my friends.

That's quite possible, once they see you happy and off the cigs!

If you can, find an online source that ships to the UK and offers "samplers" of flavors. One of the nicest parts of vaping is expanding our tastes, and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised.

The last few years as a smoker (or 45 +) was roll my own, so tobacco was where I started. And I still vape several juices along those lines, but I also really enjoy flavors like lemonade, watermelon.... go figure! (Chocolate is hard to do right, haven't found one I like yet. :( )
