How long have you been vaping on your tank before you started getting a burn flavor?
There are many reasons a vape will taste burnt. Once a atomizer has been used for awhile it will start to get gunked up, and start to not perform, can also give a burnt flavor when enough juice isn't getting wicked. Needs to be cleaned, changed, replaced or rebuilt.
Often a new vaper won't allow sufficient time for a new wick to become fully saturated with juice before taking that first vape and scorch the wick, reducing its capacity to wick, and shortening coil/wick life.

Getting a regulated mod is a good investment but is no guaranty that it will improve ones vape without the proper care and knowledge that goes with all the aspects of vaping.
