Just got my ecig Joye Ego-T LR. Bought a variety of liquid which are mainly 18mg. the ecig unit worked great, fussfree(though there were residue liquids when handling the cartridge).

i have been smoking for 15yrs (25 sticks a day). the first few puff I tried sent me to a coughing fit. Ive tried slowing dragging and exhaling which is ok. Tried smoking it like a cigar which was ok. But Once I tried to inhale, I will go into a fit again. Is this normal for first time user? The vapor was very harsh on my lungs ( i smoke melb red).

Does anyone have the same experience?

Yup, that is very normal for a new vaper. You can try taking a long drag and holding it in your mouth for a few seconds before you inhale (if you decide to inhale). That technique will save you from the killer throat hits (THs) until you get used to vaping in a way that's comfy for you. From what I've read on ECF, the majority of the nic is absorbed by the tissues in your mouth so even if you don't inhale, you should still be getting some nic. Also, let some of the vapor go into or out of your nose when you have a mouthful because it will allow you to taste your juice better.

High nic levels and/or high PG % in your juices can cause a wickedly strong TH. Some people love the massive THs, but if you're not a fan, you can try to decrease the nic content of your juice and put some VG into your juice. Most vapers seem to like an 80/20 or 70/30 ratio of PG to VG. The PG will make the flavor stronger and give more throat hit, but not much vapor; the VG will make the flavor a little duller, have little to no throat hit, and produce glorious clouds of vapor. Hence, the mixes of PG/VG in an attempt to get great flavor, the desired throat hit, and a fog bank of vapor exhaled (there's just something very satisfying about blowing out a wall of vapor!).

Good luck finding your perfect vape. If you have any other questions - come back and ask away!

+1 on everything Momster said...my first vape, as my brain exploded, leaking out my ears and my eyes hit the far wall, I thought OOOOOOOOOWEEEEE(when I could think again)...it took me about a week of experimenting to get my technique down and even now, I find, I am still modifying, changing and refining my technique............

After going though 7+ PG based flavors, I was still having the coughs and chest wheezing. I ordered in 50/50 and a full VG based. The 50/50 was still causing the coughs but the full VG turned things around for me. No more coughs.

I'm sticking to VG now (even though its less nicotine for the buck). If it hurts, why try gettin use to PG? Makes no sense to push it for 1 year and come back proclaiming "PG f-ed me up and thats why E-cigs are bad" like someone here did

Yo might wana let your mother try VG and see how it goes...

Thats me though...
