Hi there :)

I've been smoke free for 40 days already, and enjoying vaping a lot. There's something troubling me though...

I'm not sure if there's something wrong with my taste buds. I started tasting food and drink better just one day after i quit the smokies and that's still true, but somewhat the taste i get from my usual setup, an eGo-T with LR atomizer, or even with different clearos, got diminished for the past few weeks, no matter the hardware i use.

I guess it takes quite some time for the taste buds to recover, and it'll be different depending on the person, but still...

Anyway, how was your experience with vapor tasting in the first months? Any tips/tricks for any new member in this happily growing vaping community? :D

PS: Sorry about my english

What taste buds? :p

Seriously though, I've been vaping for about 2 1/2 months and I have the same problem as you. Finally, some days I think it's getting better, but I still have days where the only thing I can taste is mint and licorice. I fear this may always be the case for me though, my nose doesn't work right. Most times I have a hard time smelling things, and I've read on here many times that your sense of smell is as important to the vaping experience as are your taste buds.

Good luck!

I've been vaping for a month now and like someone else said, i sometimes taste the flavor and sometimes I dont. The other day i was trying a couple of different flavors (cherry, vanilla, coffee, etc) and they all tasted like burnt bacon. I was vaping with a couple of friends (whom i convinced to quit smoking and start vaping BTW) and I was the only one having this issue. I definitely have not seen any change in taste or smell. No side effects for that matter, except that i have been eating like a pig.

So, it takes patience and some bumps along the road? Is that so for almost everyone?

The only real mistake you can make is assuming that your taste in vapor will be like anyone else's or that it won't change from day to day! ;) The great thing about vaping is that you can customize pretty much every aspect: Flavor, vapor production, throat hit, nicotine strength...whatever! The secret is figuring out what you like/want/need and then tweak until you find it.

I have been vaping for about 6 weeks now, after being a pack & 1/2 smoker for 15 years. I have noticed my sense of taste start slowly coming back, but my sense of smell has come back much quicker. I notice to that whatever I'm vaping "loses" it's flavor after awhile, so I switch flavors fairly frequently. I also exhale through my nose about every third drag, and that helps the flavor come through.

That happens to everyone. Clean your atomizers. Smell your vapor. Alternate between contrasting flavors - don't get in a rut. Boge cartomizers are great for alternating flavors - each has its own atomizer - no blending of flavors. I vape 2-3 contrasting flavors in cartomizers.

Also - some things (besides vaping the same/similar flavor over and over, or forgetting to smell the vapor) that can diminish flavors - hot drinks, food or drink flavors left in your mouth, alcohol, fans or wind keeping you from smelling the vapor, stuffed nose.

Exhaling through your nose (French Exhale) is a great way to get a strong flavor. Another "pro" technique is the "French Inhale": The nicotine in e-cig vapor isn't easily absorbed by our lungs, so keeping it in your mouth or upper respiratory system is the best way to get the nicotine--holding it in your lungs doesn't really help and the only real reason to inhale at all is to get the "throat hit". Instead, slowly drag the vapor into your mouth for a good 5 seconds or so. Then let the vapor escape your mouth while you inhale through your nose. It might tickle a bit and not everyone can do it, but its the best way to get the most flavor and nicotine out of any e-cig.
