Just wondering if when you first start vaping do your e-liquids taste different after your taste buds return to normal? I'm wanting to try a bunch of different flavors, but I'm betting I shouldn't really judge them until I have been off of my analogs long enough for my taste buds to "recover". Any thoughts, ideas, experiences with this?

Hey Spoom,

I think everyone will say yes that your buds grow back after you stop smoking...and taste will come back/change.

I think the bigger issue is simply to find something you like to vape... some you will simply never like - regardless if your taste buds come back... After a while you will be like... ok, it isn't my taste buds... I just hate this juice...

It has taken me a while to even find something I like...

Yes, order a bunch of flavors in small bottles but if there are some you don't like, hold onto them because in a few weeks you may like them but find something you like now or it will be hard to give up analogs. A lot of us thought we needed tobacco flavors to replace our cigs but for me it was the sweet flavors that hit the spot, so try different kinds. Good luck and happy vaping!!!!!

Looking back, I should have ordered strong flavors,
i.e. Cinnimon, Licorice, in double or triple flavor shots.
IN SMALL QUANITIES, sampler packs!!! Smaller the better IMO.
After you get your tastebuds back, your preferences may
change, mine did in suprising fashion. I don't like tabacco,
I like menthol (never smoked menthol analogs), carmel
seems subtle but good. YMMV
The more your tastebuds recover the more different flavors
you may find you like, sampler packs make it easy to
experiment. THEN order a BIG bottle of your favoriate!

You're absolutely correct that your juice will likely taste different to you after you've been off analogs for a few weeks. You also may hit some days that you can't taste anything, but that will pass. The other thing is that if you are ordering fresh made juice it may take a few weeks before the flavors come though in a good way for you.

I find that juice taste different or doesn't have much taste at all depending on what I've recently eaten or drank so that's a factor sometimes to consider too when trying a new flavor.

Lastly, remember that liking or not liking an e-juice may have absolutely nothing to do with if you like or don't like that flavor in your food or drinks or past analogs. Taste for your e-juice is a funny thing that sometimes just doesn't make much sense.:?::)

I somehow ended up with a tobacco flavor that I actually kind of like, but I think it's because it seems to have a strong peanut butter note for some reason.

I like the sweet flavors, but I find that sometimes I seem to crave a bitter hit. If you like coffee at all, I would recommend at least one coffee flavor in your arsenal that isn't too heavy on the sweeteners/adjuncts.

Spot on, after about 2 weeks I couldn't stand the taste of most of the different tobacco juices I had ordered when I started out.

I never noticed any changes in taste like people talk about. I smoked for 25 years, and quit the moment I got my first e-cig 7 months ago. Food still tastes the same as always. My taste did not change and I noticed no other health improvements either, but I never coughed or anything from cigarettes. I'm pretty sure I smell better though!

Good thread, shows the variables in new users. I started out wanting nothing to do with tobacco. Sweet was my sweet spot. Now I like a sweet tobacco. Wyatt Earp to be exact. Also I taste a anise flavor in the WE...I hate anise flavor, but I sure love WE.
Get samples only imo from as many different sources you like. Your taste will change, and the liquid can also change flavors.

I just started my 3rd week and no analogs.
I'm just now starting to taste the cappuccino flavor, and the apple as well.
I like them both. I also have some vanilla, and chestnut that I can't really distinguish.

I just ordered some blank carts and some new attys, and that may make a difference.
I think I'll just use one cart for one flavor, and will try and label it such.

Thanks for the info everyone! So sampler packs huh? Any recommendations on where to get them? I would really like to try some coffee flavors, and some of the fruity dessert types, but I don't want to spend too much more money this week.

Oh, and great memory DocWyatt, I did order the Blu, then the 510 just hours later.) I assumed the prefilled carts were not going to be tasty.

I'm nearly a month without "analog" cigarettes and I've noticed that the coffee flavor I originally liked no longer seems to have the same taste as when I first started. I've been refilling the cartomizers that the original flavour came in so it might just be that I burnt the filler or something along those lines. I have some of those new ceramic E2 cartomizers so I'll let you know if there's a difference when I use the same liquid in different cartomizers
