New Vapor - Why do all my juices taste like........nothing????

Hi all,

First I'll intro a bit.....I've been a smoker (analog I guess it's called now) for 30 years. Was pretty excited about vaping and have been giving it a try for about 7-8 weeks now. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to trying new things and buy everything right away. Lol

So far I have ....started with the Blu set up....moved to some throw aways (Fantasia) was the brand...then the OCD kicked in...lol.

And many more.....

I try them (or read lots of reviews if buying online) and they taste great.......I buy...fill my tank.....get 1/4 through and........it's all air. :-(

I've steeped.....I've watts up....down...more air...less air......no difference

I've tried....75/25 PG.......50/50.......25/75.......100% VG ......no difference

No nic....3, 6, 12 and 18 mg......nope....

I've changed coils...built my own....cleaned and cleaned.....nothing...

Note.....none of the above means I in any way know what I am doing. Not even close.......lol

I'm frustrated and annoyed and have gone back to cigs (not as many but....)

Are my taste buds just crap or wth??????

If they start out tasting great and then become tasteless, you may be experiencing the phenomena known as "vaper's tongue"

It appears to happen a lot to new vapers, although it can apparently happen to anyone. Search vaper's tongue and you'll find a lot of info about it.

You might want to consider DIY'ing your own e-juice. Sometimes mine has too much flavour so I just open the tank and add some more flavourless mix. Other times if I find I don't have enough flavour I just add a couple of more drops of concentrated flavouring. Some of the e-juice I purchased had too much flavouring for my tastes so I rescued it by adding more flavourless mix. In other cases I rescued it by adding some flavour but now I use only my own recipes.

I wasn't able to kick the analogues to the curb until I started making my own juice which gave me complete control over the strength and amount of flavouring. I never found a premixed e-juice I really liked any oddly my DIY efforts were immediately successful (I've read lots of posts where folks are disappointed with their initial DIY efforts).

Sounds like the next logical step for you. Don't give up, you'll get the vape you want!

Okay, so if you go back to cigs, you will continue having the problem most likely. You will continue having trouble tasting flavors. Around the 2-3 month mark it was flavorless to me too. That's when I started changing flavors regularly.

You can try going with more intense flavors, like red hots, or cheese cake. I've noticed the lack of flavor was mostly fruity flavors. If you have some fruity flavors, try putting in 2-4 drops of lemon juice per 10ml to make the flavors pop out a bit more. If that fails, go to your local b&m and find some coconut, or banana type flavors, it's almost impossible to not taste those.

I feel your frustration. 8 weeks in, I was still using a cig-a-like and getting nothing off it at all. No flavour, hit or nicotine relief. (and my moods were shocking...)

3 or 4 months in, I was off on 'planet tasteless' as the taste buds were beginning to find their way back, and had to vape menthol solidly for 2 weeks.

It's a hard road. Once you even out, there is taste to be found, I feel sure.

Hang in there. Don't throw any liquid out either, you'd be surprised.

Sounds like a classic case of vaper's tongue to me. Make sure you are drinking PLENTY of water. Vaping can dehydrate you if you arent taking in enough water. It will pass. Now is a good time to vape those juices you bought and found that you didn't really care for. There is a good bit of information on the forums about vaper's tongue. I'm no expert on it and don't want to give you wrong information. Search the forums and read up on it. I have had it and still get it from time to time but eventually it goes away. I make sure I have a water bottle with me all day everyday and it seems to not happen as much.

Your diagnosis is Vaper's tongue.

Your prescription should be as follows: Drink plenty of water, more than you usually would. Vape one of the following flavors; Menthol, Cinnamon, or Coffee.

Try rotating your different flavors often, keep several on hand at all times.

agreed w/ what others have said. increase your water intake.. quite a bit... also mix up your flavors more. even when i did use tanks i rarely filled any up.. i like to rotate flavors constantly.

I must admit I had thought i had increased my water intake but realize my "pre-vape" intake was dismal so my "increase" may have been actually pretty low.

I'll be trying all....upping water intake.....changing out a few tanks now to different mixes of menthol and other non- fruity to swap throughout the day....grabbing some bioteen, pickles and tongue scrapper (ok...now that sounds quite funny actually lol) and warning my other half that I'm going straight vape and he should duck and cover for his safety (seriously. ....I'm a sweetheart normally but my previous attempts have been rather........hmmm......I'll just call it stressed as psychotic may scare people ;-)

I have been vaping for a few years now. I still get the tasteless attack once in a while when I vape one flavor for to long. I switch up - it helps, but sometimes nothing will solve it - only time and patience. I keep a little menthol around for those moments - it breaks through all tasteless moments, but I really do not like menthol much. The key is - do what you have to do, but do not go back to the stinkies (cigarettes that is). That is the worst thing you can do... It took me 3 months to totally give up smokes - the ones right after meals were the hardest ones, but I won and I am not going back - you can too...

Just a quick heads up that if you try hot cinnamon or some citrus flavors you really do need to use a glass/Pyrex tank with them. I learned that the hard way after getting a glass tank for those flavors, then getting absent minded and filling the polycarbonate tank with hot cinnamon.

I do the same thing. I have 4 RBAs that all have distinctively different flavors, and I vape all 4 throughout the day and evening...and it works great.

Yup water, water, water. I havnt read this anywhere but I think the oil coats your mouth and taste membranes and maybe cloggs em up. I drink alot of coffee, water, soda whatever I have available. I can tell you that my all day vape is a couple of DYI Tobacco flavors. one menthol one not, I blend three different flavors for each. I never get vape tounge with my tobacco's and I really like them. I do use other flavors, fruits some bakery and coffee. Those get me vape tounge quick.
