I can't seem to find any information on this topic, but does anyone know if it's possible to rebuild the new vertical occ coils they just released recently? On the original occ coils you can pull the press fitted top off to build easier inside. But what I'm also curious about is if the juice holes are bigger on the new coils. I've been rebuilding the regular occ coils with no dry hits. I tried it vertically and had nothing but spitting and then dry hits after I vaped what was in the wick. Is there really that much of a difference going vertical? Has anyone else had much success rebuilding vertically?

Nah, from what I've seen rebuilding the VOCC heads would be a real nightmare. In order to just get the thing open you need to kind of tear it apart, and beyond that, the way that the cotton is sort of wedged up against the outside of the coil makes it really difficult to pull out without destroying everything.

But I'd guess it's only a matter of time before Rip Trippers or someone is showing us his "SUPER HEXADECIMAL VOCC REBUILD V2 ELITE DELUXE" or something crazy.

Also just as my 2c, I've had pretty damn good luck with the VOCC heads, I like them a lot more than the previous OCC heads. I've found they can tolerate higher wattage a bit better than the old ones and I've been hitting it pretty hard with no dry hits. The spitting is definitely a thing though, especially if I set it down for a little bit and then pick it back up to have a vape. Still, I really like 'em.

Lastly, with the RBA head included, why wouldn't you just rebuild that?

I can build my OCC "old" coils vertically and they are "just ok". I recently purchased a black subtank and used up the new vertical coil. On rebuild day I looked at it and told myself no. My impression is they designed it so the casual user will not be able to recoil it and they in turn sell more coils. I would venture to guess it is possible to rebuild them but it probably won't be worth the effort.

Cant say much about the rebuilding, although I'm guessing it would be a pain in the ..... As for the juice holes, yes they do look slighlty bigger but the main thing I notice it that the metal is sunk more which makes it easy to wick Id imagine..if that makes sense, sorry, im really tired after work..

Well for now I guess I'll just keep rebuilding them horizontal. It wicks just fine and can vape 1ohm at 30 Watts. Worst case scenario I end up buying a new rta and do away with buying coils period. I'm regretting buying the nano for not having a rebuildable deck. Although I hear the new decks fit into the nano. Not sure how long the tank of juice would last with that deck in. Right now I can go a full day with one tank filled in the morning.

Sorry, somehow your reply didn't show up when I checked the post. But yeah I bought the nano and it doesn't come with the rebuildable deck. I tried looking up more info on anyone trying that in the nano, and only found one person that did it, and he said it takes up like another ml of space. So I dunno. Cant find anyone else that has tried it to get their input.

I have seen videos on you tube that show hot to make the vertical coils in the OCC. It comes apart very easy. Just have to look at several of the videos to find the one that shows you how to take it totally apart.
Best way is to put a 2.5-3mm pin thru the wicking holes and the use small adjustable wrench to twist the top off.

Thats for the old style. I can build those, but I didn't like it. The new vocc coils apparently do not come apart like the old occ coils. But now that I think about it. Even the new coils can easily be rebuilt horizontal. And would be a lot nicer with the bigger juice holes, that is if they are actually bigger.

It's doable, but a real pain. I rebuilt a few of them over the last couple of weeks. Getting the old wick and coil out isn't bad... putting in the rebuilt one is a chore. You have to wrap the wick around the coil SUPER tight and shove it down the throat of the coil and let the wick unravel to fill the coil housing. It's an insanely tight fit. Works great, though... those huge juice channels make a lot of difference. And until Kanger releases the vertical ni200 coils, I'm stuck doing this for temp control.

The main reason I rebuild the OCC heads is because when I am fishing, I like to be able to just have a spare or two on hand just in case one craps out on me. I would rather just be able to pop the old one out and the new one in as opposed to fiddling with building a new coil while I am fishing. Simply comes down to convenience.

I definitely agree with this sentiment, when I'm using the RBA section I'll keep a spare head on me somewhere just in case the RBA starts getting funky or misbehaves.

That said, based on information I've seen -- and simply the construction of these VOCC's -- I'm not sure we'll be able to rebuild them easily anytime soon. The way that everything's kind of packed in there is almost "too tight", and with no real way to remove the top part of the head to get access to the inner giblets I can't see any way you could replace the coil, re-feed the leads, and re-wick it. I mean, maybe there's a way to do it, but I'm tentatively leaning on a "big no."

Unfortunatus.
