New Vision Spinner, general questions

UGGGH! I am heartbroken. Yet another problem, please advise!

Been using my spinner for about a day and a half with no problems. I start to notice that my juice is becoming a kind of gunky brown color (is that normal?) There was no burn taste to it, though. I also start to notice that it's leaking a bit. Not, like, everywhere, but enough to make it sticky, which is how i noticed. I'm still only at 3.8 volts, max. So again, i take it apart, and sure enough, there is juice all over my battery contact, and in my cartomizer, again. What is the problem here? Stuck with analogs til I figure out what to do. This thing is a week old, how could it possibly be the coil? (I've been googling). Guess I CAN'T blame it all on the boyfriend.

Oh I forgot to add: When I'm not using it, I tend to let it rest on it's side, not sure if this could affect it, but thought I'd give as much info as possible. Also, I charged it for about 15 minutes for the first time ever. Again, no idea if this makes a difference, but I'm kind of afraid if I keep using it without knowing the problem i'll break it. There is a very, very slight gurgling/popping noise, but that's only because I 'warm it up' for a millisecond before I hit it. I find this gives me a better throat burn.

Thanks again, guys. This forum has been a life saver. Never knew how much there was to learn about vaping!

remove tank, clean off battery, let it charge while you do this

you flooded your coil (it happens)

pull drip tip off (so tank will sit upsidedown)
take base off, (let tank sit)
blow thru the chimney to clear out excess (no need to remove coil)
wipe everything off, re assemble
also a q-tip down thru the air tube in center helps
(pull some cotton off qtip so it will fit in)

if you don’t feel that was good enuff
you’ll have to dump fluid and wash it all

the tank is a sealed system under slight vacuum so it will sit in ANY position
change in air pressure (and temp) will make fluid push/seep out

keep asking

Thank you so much!! I did most of this while waiting for a reply this morning. I hadn't made the connection that I could remove the tip so I could clean it out without removing all the juice. I did end up completely disassembling it, washing everything, letting it dry. How exactly DID I flood the coil? I'd like to know so I don't do it again. If it happens while filling, I can't see how, because I'm making sure no fluid gets into the middle, and letting it slowly drip into the sides. With this tank it seems pretty easy to see.

You said keep asking, so HERE I GO: : )

1) How tight should I be screwing these pieces together?
2) How often should I be charging?
3) What's my next step if it continues to drip into my battery?
4) How high should I be filling this tank? It doesn't have a ml marker on it.
Should the liquid be turning kind of gunkier and more brown as it gets low?

I promise, I'll stop annoying you soon. : p

1- ONLY thing that needs to be tight is, COIL in base
the rest, just snug up and let o-rings do their job
if something seeps, just snug a little more
DON’T crank the topper ONTO the battery either, just till it touches
2- charge soon/charge often Li-Ion likes to be active
best not too low, not full charge – so if possible charge it, or just run it
thru its complete cycle
4- fill as much as YOU want – to fill to max, is up to the top of center air tube

3- my guess is air flow causing flooding, including how you ‘draw’ on it
a qwik fast hard draw will pull excess fluid into the wicks,
more than your heat applied will burn off resulting in gurgle and
to much fluid escaping THRU coil & into battery

like you are doing (push button before you start sucking)
then take - l o n g - steady draws
pay attention/be aware of air bubbles rising inside tank as you vape

sunlight, air, heat will change colors (like cooking on stove)
normally has no noticable effect

:)

One other thing is to make sure that the coil head (the part INSIDE the atomizer) is screwed down tightly. Often these will loosen up when you put the head on the battery, and will cause major leaking (onto the battery).

The liquid turning darker color is normal.

When you put the head on the battery, it should be just snug. Don't crank it hard (you can either wind up unscrewing the coil head, or damage the battery)

ETA: By "coil head" I mean the replaceable coil. By "Head" I mean the whole atomizer. Sorry if that was confusing!

You guys are the best!! Seriously, way more helpful than the 19-year-old stoners at my local shop where I bought it. : )

All of that makes sense to me. Much to learn, I still have.

I think I am sucking on it too much too hard to get the burn, like a cigarette, because that's what I'm used to. Gonna try and turn the volt up a tiny bit and draw slower, give it a charge, and just keep cleaning it out every day if I'm still getting some small leakage onto the battery while I learn how to 'perfect' my vaping with this piece. Thanks again so much!

Getting the draw right, for a particular atty, is a learning process.

What might work better is to:

Hit the button, wait a second
Draw in slowly. Let go of the button BEFORE you finish inhaling
Keep inhaling for a bit.

The bizarre thing about e-ciggs, vs cigarettes, is that for a cigarette, you get a stronger hit by inhaling faster. For many e-ciggs, you get a stronger hit by inhaling slower. It gives the head a little more time to vaporize the e-liquid. Very counter-intuitive!

Yes, I'm back again, with more questions. Just when I thought I had it all figured out...just call me needy. I AM NEEDY. I want to start using this thing with no problems, and I'm getting frustrated by how many problems it's had. Luckily, I've learned everyone here is lovely and nice. : )

Happy New Year, everyone! Not a great start. Had to go out and buy a pack of cigs. After a few days of loving this thing and using this forum help to 'correct' some learning curves and boyfriend indiscretions : ) , my vape lost all flavor, was hitting really weird. Had to charge the battery for the first time, and after, I can't even describe how nasty the hits were. Coughing, hacking, just gross, on the lowest volt. No clue if the charging contributed to this issue, I just know after I charged it, it seemed to be worse. I haven't been constant vaping, just off and on for 4 days. Because of the 'issues' I've been having, I've still been using analogs while I get it figured out. Is this long enough to burn out the coil? The juice is getting really dark and gunky really fast, whereas before it wasn't.

Here's what I have done:
Completely cleaned it out, disassembled, completely let it dry. twice in 4 days.
Tried screwing on the battery a bit looser, didn't seem to help.
Had a full day and a half successfully pulling slower, gentler hits, and it made a world of difference. Now, on the lowest volt, even the tiniest hit is just awful. The juice is turning a gross color way faster than it was 3 days ago.

Talked to some vaping friends and they said there's 'no way' my coil burned out that fast. But I'm completely in the dark here, so I'm taking all the help I can get. Gonna try and include some pics from my crappy phone to help with the explanation.

I am just getting so frustrated. Was feeling super positive about this, and I'm just getting more and more confused and peeved. I'm realllllly hoping the answer is a new coil, boom, done. But how do I KNOW when the coil is burned out?

So here's the difference between the colors after about 6 hits.

Here's my coil.

hang in there and keep hitting up the questions! I wish I was more help but I haven't ever used the set up you are using. I am just wondering if your tank has been faulty from the start?

Yeah, i don't know. It's so hard, because I was feeling so positive about this, and it's just become so frustrating! I really, really, like it when it works correctly, so I think if I can just keep learning, fixing, etc, I'll be able to stick with it. I hate that i bought a pack tonight. : (

It happens to the best of us! I started with more basic set up to get going but they were probably not as satisfying as what you have. I am waiting on my istick by ileaf and my mini naughtilus tank which is also variable volt etc so I will probably be on here next week with the same issues until we figure it out :)

I have called the place I bought this thing 3 times, and every time they act like 1)I'm annoying them, and 2) I'm an idiot for not knowing how to work this thing.

I'm a reasonably intelligent woman. I know how to google. I found this forum, and obviously have been asking a TON of questions. Honestly, this forum has helped me way more than anything else. I just hope I can get this crap figured out so I can enjoy my new life changing christmas present for longer than a day and a half. From what I understand, I have a decent kit, so I just have no clue what the problem is.

your pic of the coil is hard to see should it have a little bit of string/wick on top? do you have a replacement coil to compare?

I don't have a replacement coil right now. Going out tomorrow to get one before work to talk to someone at the local shop, which to be honest I'm dreading. The customer service so far is not great.

I don't think mine is supposed to have a string or wick....someone on here linked me a pic which you can see if you read back in the thread, which is approximately my whole set up, the only difference I can see being the o-ring on the coil, I believe because mine is the mini. But what do I know? I'm just hoping I don't have to spend a ton of money on fixing/replacing anything. I work retail. : (
